Hi all,

So i'm due to order some more 1.s for my STM after an absolute disaster with the first batch from Amazon (3 duds and 2 iffys)

It now appears that there is a smaller, rounder "SSOCC" for the STM instead of the older fatter, squarer "OCC"

I wish kanger would stop messing about with things, it does nothing but confuse people like me who are not all clued up on the vape game.

So a quick nosey at reviews on the newer type coil on the kanger site and it's bleak reading.

Has anybody had any experience/feedback with the new smaller, rounder SSOCC coils?

Thanks in advance

Adam

No experience, but just what I've read.

The square OCC coil housing was made of some chrome plated material, like zinc alloy or brass. SSOCC stands for stainless steel organic cotton coil. The coil frame is stainless, not the wire.

This next part I have not confirmed.
  • Pink O-Ring... Stainless Steel wire. Power or SS TC mode, your choice.
  • Blue O-Ring... Nickel wire. Ni TC mode ONLY.
  • Black O-Ring... "Clapton" coil. Probably Kanthal, Power Mode ONLY.
  • Red O-Ring... NiChrome wire. Power Mode only. Made to use with the NiCh TC mode on the brand new Kanger TC mods. Doesn't actually TC according to reports.
Table from Fasttech.

Yeah, I bought a genuine pack from a reputable UK distributor.
First one was total garbage, the rest have been good though. I found it took longer to break in the round ones than the old square styled ones.
When they have had a tank full through them I think they are decent enough, had my current one in for about 10 days now, at least 8 full tanks through it and still going strong. Plenty of flavour and tons of vapor.

Thanks for the reply.

Can you tell me how you break yours in?

I simply just run it at a lower wattage for the first half a tank or so.

Also which UK distributor did you use?

Thanks

Let's hope it's correct. As I said, I have not confirmed it. I'm still using the old square OCC (horizontal) coils. Picked up 5 boxes a year ago in a group buy.

To prime the coils, I drop 5-8 drops (sometimes less/more depending on the size of the coil head) of juice right inside the coil, another drop of juice in all the holes on the side of the coil. Put the coil in the base, fill the tank and screw the base back onto the tank. Once you put the tank on the battery give it several unpowered primer puffs. This will make sure the wick is fully saturated.

Turn you voltage/wattage down, take a few hits, bump it up, couple more hits. Repeat until you find your "sweet spot". If it starts to taste funny, gets too hot or tastes burnt, back it down. Different flavors will have different sweet spots so you just have to experiment.

Yeah pretty much the same, prime it well, let the coil soak up a good few drops ( feed holes and at the top but be careful not to flood it!)

Then I let it sit in a full tank soaking for at least 20 mins so I know it's fully saturated.

Pull a few draws through with no power and airflow closed. Then a few with low power and low air flow, gently building it up, normally towards the end of the first full tank it's settled down to where I like it :)

This is totally subjective of course but it works for me.

Ukecigstore, is where I got these coils from, but they are a bit rubbish at having things in stock!

Brilliant. Thamk you both very much for your input. I have come across ukecigstore before and you are right, they rarely have what I want in stock.

I've managed to find some of the older square ones for now so i'll give those 5 a go before I order the new smaller cylindrical shaped ones.
Any time :)
Happy vaping!

@Susan~S

I drop 5-8 drops (sometimes less/more depending on the size of the coil head) of juice right inside the coil

Does this not flood the coil?

I guess i might have another awful batch of the 1.2 square coils and even when poking a hole right through and letting it soak i get a burnt taste almost immediately even at 10w, that's after i've spat a mouth full of eliquid out.

If I do it your way by a few drops right inside the coil when i connect it all back up it's a really tight draw, gurgly, flooded, mouth full of juice etc.

Getting really impatient with vaping now. I'm back to my old pen drive thing as the subtank mini is causing nothing but problems and kanger change their coils everyday. The amount of people that i read getting bad coils is surely something kanger cannot get away with, do they not have quality control?

Thanks
