Some of these things are a mystery to me : ) I know you're busy but if you ever have the time could you explain a little more in depth how a 470 ohm and a 10k ohm resistor could do the same thing. I'm not doubting you for a minute, I'll take your word for it, I just want to understand it. Like what does "tied low" mean? Thanks man for everything!

I am actually here about the board as well trying to figure out what the hell i did wrong when i was building my box mod because i have 1.2-2.5 volts at the battery connector without having the button pressed in. no wires or solder connections appear to be touching. i can post pics tomorrow when i get off work. in the mean time any ideas?

pics would be good or maybe a diagram of how you have it wired.

Robert: On the ncp 630a, the control pin has to be tied to a low state. Thinking in digital terms, low is a 0v and high is 5v. (it's actually a bit different with the newer circuits working at lower voltages but it's the general idea). If the pin were left floating, the output could be on or off intermitttenly, so tying the control pin low makes sure that the regulator is off.

The reason for the resistor.. If we had the control tied directly to ground without he resistor, when we apply a positive voltage to turn it on, we'd have a direct short to ground. the resistor stops that from happening..
