gonna add a little more about the ulnar nerve here....ever hit your funny bone? that jolt you get is from the ulnar nerve. How many times a day to do bend your arm? Neurosurgeon explained that it's much like a piece of elastic that loses it's elasticity over time and ceases to snap back, remains stretched. Ever lean on your elbows? don't do it !!! Puts pressure on that nerve. When you reach a point where that pinky and ring finger won't wake up....it's amazing how the entire hand is affected and how fast muscles, you weren't even aware of in your hand, atrophy. Surgery isn't a guarantee to work. IF the nerve renews itself...you're looking at a rate of 1/2" a month.....how many inches from your elbow to those fingers?![]()
Yeah, I've really had to watch myself and how I use my right elbow. I don't lean on it on tables, but I do tend to wedge it against the arm of my chair at work when I'm on the computer. The biggest thing for me was the flex during the night because I've always slept with one arm crooked rightly under my head and the other one curled up against my chest. I'd wake up with those two fingers of my right hand numb for a while and I thought it was just from sleeping on it and cutting off the blood supply. Then they started to be numb and wouldn't work. And when it started taking longer and longer for it to go back to normal, I knew there was an issue.
I got some beanbag wrist rests but my hands don't like them. I keep one on my desk to rest my elbow on which does help.
