Depends on where you get them. I get mine from Sam's Club and have to butterfly them. One breast would be a whole pound if I didn't.
Wonder if I can get a grant to do the research?
I don't know whats going on but every time I buy a bunch they look bigger than the last batch, the ones i bought today have got to go over a pound each

Its hormones they put in their food. I am not sure what it is but it gives me a huge headache when I eat it. I have to get free range or hormone free and they are smaller

6 weeks form chick to plate....... how is this?
So it's not just me,my chickens never got anywhere near that big the ones I bought today look more like a lg goose than a chicken
The farmers put a form of arsenic in the feed to get them to grow faster is my understanding.
I never knew that until I moved to Arkansas in the Tyson Chicken Capital.
Wonder if I can get a grant to do the research?

My son thought he would go work one of them factories.... The job lasted all of 2 weeks.
I was happy he did not lose a hand before that.
My uncle has a farm for fieldale, 9000 chickens a coop.
he runs 4 on his property. The chickens then go to the factory on truck live to semi live for the last step..
