For the Windows 8 users... If you weren't aware, you can get Win8.1 for free from Microsoft.
Just go into the Store ( on the Win8 Start Screen ) and click to download the update.
More than likely you will want to burn the download to disk ( asuming they give us that option, I'm 50% the download so I'm not certain if it is an option as of yet ), in which case you will need a blank DVD. This is a large download, close to 4Gb so be prepared for a bit of a wait.
My husband has been working on updating his for a few hours today. I am letting him test it first before I break mine! LOL
I'm performing the update on my home system first before attempting it on the work computer....
So far, it has errored once saying it couldn't install with an 0x80004005 error... an odd one since I believe that indicates an activation error and I purchased directly from MS so I know the key code is correct. I've checked for disk errors and if the next attempt ( which I'm in the middle of ) doesn't complete, I'll have Windows check it's own files out for a possible corruption ( ie sfc.exe /scannow ) .... After that, who knows..![]()
let us know......I don't want to screw up my computer....Certainly....
btw, second attempt did fail also, again without much info to use to track down an error so I'm on my own in that department.
!(((hugs)))
