Supposed to be chilly tonight. I think it might be a good time to make soup for dinner.

If it's cubital tunnal syndrome than it affects mainly the pinky and ring finger. If it's more of a whole hand, than it could be carpal tunnel. Wrist braces while you sleep help with that so your fists don't ball up and bend over.

Yeah, it's the whole hands.
Was thinking I might be cutting off circulation cuz I think I cross my arms while I'm sleeping.

Getting cable TV and internet this Saturday. So I got the Motorola SBG6580 SURFboard extreme modem & gigagit router. It's an all in one unit. Anyone know if these are any good? Didn't feel like paying 7.00 a month for a modem.

Motorola does make quality stuff... but you need to check with your cable provider to make certain it is compatible with their equipment or not first.

If your wrists are bent when you sleep, then a wrist brace would definitely help. Fortunately they sell those all over the place in stores. For the elbow brace I had to order online and it was a lot more.

Yep that's the one I've got, I think I've had it about two years and it has worked perfectly, no problems at all and relatively easy to setup if I remember right. I did have to go to the website that shows all of the information after it was hooked up to get the wep code to connect some of my other wireless things but it wasn't that big a deal.

I had severe pain in the base of my right hand one day -- carpal tunnel, repetitive stress, bruise... When I woke up the next morning, it was worse so I decided to treat it like carpal tunnel. I switched my mouse to my left hand (I'm a lefty so that hadn't been hard in the past.) Within 2 days, the occasional numbness in my left hand became severe so I switched the mouse back.

While searching for an ergonomic keyboard, I came across a comment from someone who said he had cubital tunnel syndrome. I'd never heard of that so I looked it up. There was a complete list of all my symptoms, including having my hand go numb if I held a phone for more than 10 minutes (solution — a headset on my main phone.)

Braces on both hands helped. I mainly use them at the gym now.
I got some beanbag wrist rests but my hands don't like them. I keep one on my desk to rest my elbow on which does help.
I often wake with my left hand tucked and rolled into my body (and completely numb.) A cheap little wrist wrap ($9 a pair) with a thumb hook ($9 a pair) has solved that. I put it on a little loosely at night and there's just enough material in the way that it's uncomfortable to tuck my wrist.)
I have yet to find an elbow brace that will fit around my fat elbow.

Recently had my annual physical. My doctor said cubital tunnel is mostly the two outer fingers, carpal tunnel is primarily the forefinger and middle finger.

ETA: I had to return an Imak SmartGlove. It's basically a padded splint to keep the wrist straight at night. It would have been fantastic if it weren't tight enough on me to act as a tourniquet.

Here's the one I have:

Amazon.com: Corflex Ventral Cubital Tunnel Splint-M/L - Black: Health & Personal Care

It's open on the elbow side and the middle strap actually goes just above the elbow, so it doesn't put pressure on the point and that helps keep it from sliding down in the night. Totally adjustable with velcro so I can get it JUST tight enough to stay in place and not cut off circulation.

And it only took me a week to stop waking up and smacking myself in the forehead with it trying to scratch my nose! :D

gonna add a little more about the ulnar nerve here....ever hit your funny bone? that jolt you get is from the ulnar nerve. How many times a day to do bend your arm? Neurosurgeon explained that it's much like a piece of elastic that loses it's elasticity over time and ceases to snap back, remains stretched. Ever lean on your elbows? don't do it !!! Puts pressure on that nerve. When you reach a point where that pinky and ring finger won't wake up....it's amazing how the entire hand is affected and how fast muscles, you weren't even aware of in your hand, atrophy. Surgery isn't a guarantee to work. IF the nerve renews itself...you're looking at a rate of 1/2" a month.....how many inches from your elbow to those fingers? ;)

Yeah, I've really had to watch myself and how I use my right elbow. I don't lean on it on tables, but I do tend to wedge it against the arm of my chair at work when I'm on the computer. The biggest thing for me was the flex during the night because I've always slept with one arm crooked rightly under my head and the other one curled up against my chest. I'd wake up with those two fingers of my right hand numb for a while and I thought it was just from sleeping on it and cutting off the blood supply. Then they started to be numb and wouldn't work. And when it started taking longer and longer for it to go back to normal, I knew there was an issue.

Sunday on the Gotvapes contest forum - Now featuring carpal tunnel and nerve damage talk. Monday will be back to your regularly scheduled contest! LOL

I'm surprised how many people this effects..... and Iz one of 'em.

I call mine Photoshop elbow because intense, pixel bending for hours renders my right arm useless the next day. I suffer radiating pain with the numbness in the ring and pinky. Unfortunately my left hand has the coordination of silly string.

As much as computers ease my workload, for me anyway, they surely do have their physical and mental downfalls.
