Nice. I've been brewing for years. I make a German apfelwein style cider than takes folks by surprise.
OK, I have to crash now but My first real question is how do I know when it's done cooking?
I've been told by the people at the brewery supply store that it takes one week cooking then rack for one week.
Ive read that it's done after the vapor lock slows down to one bubble per minute but it's been one week and it's still bubbling one every 4 seconds???
What you need is a hydrometer. You wait for the specific gravity to stabilize before you rack.
My first rda was a a7 mini, it was a PITA, the area to work with was SO small and the air hole was between the wire posts, coils needed to be VERY small in diameter.
The dual coil I posted earlier was in a smoktech rda ( octopus ). Lots more room.

The only negative thing I can complain about is the air hole is small and come from under the coil ( the little silver piece below the coils in the pic ) and if you drip to much it will leak like crazy.
this is easily fixed by plugging the hole with a toothpick and drilling a new hole in the cap.
just don't do like I did and go to big on the first try, start with the smallest bit you can find and try it, if its good your done if not go up one size bit and make the hole a little bigger, keep trying and drilling until you find what size you like.
But remember the lower the ohms the bigger hole you will need to get the best vape possible ( up to a point ). But if the hole is to big it still wont work like it should, it is a trial and error type thing.

I do want to learn how to build my own coils. Reading up on a little about a couple of the different ones. Everyone seems to have a favorite and their idea of what is an easy one to start on. I thought I narrowed it down to an Igo-L for easy, but I am confused again.
I will go through this cycle for probably another month or so. Have not bought anything yet, just have pages bookmarked.
Apple cider. Wow, I have not had that since I was a kid and we would go up to Vermont for the fresh cider and maple syrup in the fall. Sounds yummy.
No on the snakes. Sorry. Talking birds are ok. Yorkies are real cute but in this house we are afraid we would sit on them.

Pro tanks and evods can be rebuilt, you are just limited to how big a coil you can use, with 28g wrapped on a 1/16 drill bit 1.8 ohms is about as high as I could get with out taking a chance of a short because the coil touched the inside of the coil chamber.
but with 32g I have accidentally made a coil that was over 3 ohms ( had to un-coil it some to get to the 2.2 ohms I was shooting for ).
But it isn't that hard once you get the hang of it, there are a TON of videos on YouTube about evod and pro-tank recoiling.

I'm saying that Yorkies are little, little dogs. I don't want to hear that any of the legless members of your household "like" them. Just the humans. Because the human type of liking involves petting only.
Usually they are "RBAs" rather than "RDAs" (the D is for dripping.) But if what you don't like about dripping is the frequency of the refills, RDAs take 10 or so drops, depending on the amount of wick.
I'm not really an advice giver. I have yet to successfully build a coil. You will get no tips from me on how to do it. But as I'm only a couple of weeks ahead of you in the research phase, I will point you at things I've found that look useful.
And I'm not even trying to build again until I figure out which one of this-type thing to buy:

I'm tired of squinting and trying to see the tiny wire. It's worse than threading a needle and my eyes are getting very old.
Dang I need to get one of those. My eye sight isn't to bad, but some time the wire is hard to find the home with.
His channel on YouTube has a bunch of tutorials. Some are more pertinent to me than others, but I like that he doesn't skip the basics. The hardest thing about learning the technical stuff via YouTube is plowing through 30 self-indulgent, useless videos in order to fine one that has actual info. (And I don't mean reviews aren't helpful. But there "here I am, vaping" videos are not.)
I had a harder time getting an old coil off than putting a new coil on. I have astigmatism, so my eyes have always taken a few seconds to refocus. Since getting cataract surgery, it takes even longer. My vision is fine for reading or working on the computer. But playing with ultra-thin wires in a not well lit room is a monster. On the plus side, Dad was an orthodontist. When he was moving from independent living to assisted living last year, I got a bunch of picks, clamps, locking tweezers and wire cutters. I didn't know why I wanted them. Now I know.

That way if you wanted to do dual coils down the road you would have a easier time, but it will still work just fine for single coils.
