Dannyben, you are correct I don't believe you. But it was fun while it lasted.
LOL. And I'm having even more fun knowing my post is accurate and picturing you when you verify and see each thing i said is true.
I really get a kick out of some of these posts - its almost like some folks have never owned a consumer product - ever. Everything from Cars, Motorcycles, TV's, music and video players, computers, tablets and cell phones (you name it) have a product life cycle. Some products may get a few 'bug fixes' before or after the next product comes out however most products don't.
If it were not for recycling I'd have a box plumb full of cell phones that the OEM or wireless carrier did not offer a single update for - want the newfangled feature? Buy a NEW ONE. (I have a bunch of tablets and PDA's that were never updated ether)
I recall one nice chap telling me that I should NOT use the USB port for charging my SX as it might break it and make it useless for updating. Gee - never even thought of 'updating' a disposable product. While the battery in mine has been in there almost since the day I bought it I did finally find a Windows box to upload the Ti firmware. (funny I'm currently running an Ni tank on it - obviously 'upgrade ability' was not a selling point for me)
Back on topic - while the "ML Class" sounds interesting I think some of the other chips have more to offer. I'm currently eyeballing an "Apollo" box mod. ~$100, TCR adjustment and single 18650 battery.
While I currently like and use my two YiHi chipped mods daily, I'm in no shape or form a 'fanboy' or feel the need to have any (IMHO silly) 'brand loyalty'.
Just give me the best bang for the bucks.
Except for the fact that phones, TV's, cars etc.... "usually are only updated once a year and regularly. Here You received one month on the S, 5 months on the M, and what appears to be 2 months on the not even released ML. When you buy a phone, they generally continue to update the OS for a minimum of 2 years after discontinuation.
Yes, vaping and mods are changing rapidly. No one expects their new purchase to be state of the art for even a year. But the issue here is the PROMISE and LIST as a FEATURE firmware updates. Dont expect that to be forever, but as i stated none once they introduce a new mod and they clearly have the marketing plan to abandon support so that you will buy their new device.
I'm not telling anyone not to buy a ML. Never said yihi doesnt make great chips. Just that they should NOT advertise a feature of upgradability if they have done what they have in their past 2 devices. If they were a US company there'd be a class action suit against them. And thats why they won't get my $200. But, it's your $200 and your choice if you want to shell out that money for a mod that will have a life span of 1 to 5 months with zero support afterwards. People should be aware that. Aware that support ends as soon as something new is introduced. Aware that the current v1 (M class) is discontinued and not expect any features to be added, just as the 75W or anything else was never added to the people who paid $190 for their S class. Aware that other companies current mods that utilize this chip are also effected. And there are no plans to offer the old or new chip to ANY dealer or mod manufacturer.
Of course, yihi might wake up one day and realize what they are doing and do a complete about face. But as long as people fall for this marketing tactic and send them their $200 every few months for a new feature or two why would they give it to you for free -- even if they promised it to you to buy the mod in the first place. I guess when you own other companies like Sigelei and Pioneer 4 You it doesn't matter as much if one fails.
