A different perspective, i bought the Sx M Class on launch, within 5 weeks it was replaced due to the paint flaking off, the replacement has operated well since, but and its a big but! A couple of weeks ago i got the hcigar DNA200 and honestly this board is way ahead in its ability to configure just about everything, i hold no allegiance to any make, i want a decent mod for a decent price, and if this is YHI's answer to the dna 200 god help them!

Quite honestly the Evolv board is way ahead, and a hell of a lot cheaper than the £169 for the SX

Yep, I'm a stupid user who thought that the much ballyhooed 'Upgradable' chip was just that, upgradable. You know, introduce new features, like SS settings, cooler screens, etc.
Now, I have had the benefit of information from a smarter user who knew in advance that this 'upgrade' feature was just going to be about bug fixes.
Had I known that the expensive mod I was buying would need bugs to be fixed, I would have had second thoughts, though I may have bought it anyway depending on the nature of the bugs. I'm kind of funny that way, you know, liking things I buy to perform the function advertised.
Had I stroked my crystal ball differently and known that I'd be saddled with an orphaned mod after 5 months, I would have held on to my lovely dollars.
Now that I've had my expectations set straight, I'll not be buying anything YiHi again. Doesn't matter to me in the least about semantics and guessing what a vendor means. It isn't Alice in Wonderland and words do not mean whatever vendors want them to mean. Even if they pay them more.

Let's not talk about the 3 devices it took to get one worth the price demanded. Thankfully, Yeti Vape took care of me on the second bad device. YiHi said no, but Yeti said send it in and we'll replace it.

You know, folks, why don't we wait to be certain there won't be any more upgrades first?

I'm sorry, but one of the adament posters in this thread saying the chip is done has been wrong about other mods in the past. I take what he writes with a grain of salt. I've also heard from a little birdie he may be wrong again. The key words are "may be". But, I trust my source more ;)

Looks like the mini is on a 6 month schedule. lol

With all this .....ing about Yihi, some people seem to not realize that the DNA40 isn't even a year old yet, it officially shipped in October of last year. The DNA200 was officially released in June of this year. Just eight months between the two models. But wait, there's more.

The DNA40 was updated at least three times in that eight months, and that's not counting the introduction of the large screen versions. The owners of the older versions had no way to update unless there was a warranty replacement issue that netted them an update.

For that matter, there are people who had retail DNA200 LiPo mods in their hands before Evolv announced the 133 watt dual 18650 support. Some of those folks who would rather have had an 18650-powered mod are screwed too, by the logic of a few posters in this thread.

Now, getting back to Yihi. Guess when the SX Mini M Class was released? Late March, 2015. Almost six months ago. And the ML is at least another month off. That timetable look familiar?

But with the SXM, at least there's some HOPE of getting an update rather than having to buy a new mod.

Your right, everyone that got the dna40 were bent over like never before. Bubba came calling and left smiling. Yihi has not let anyone down that I know of.

Naw, I wouldn't go that far. Everyone that bought a DNA40 device, no matter what version of the board, got an advanced, capable product that worked as advertised. Nobody got bent over.

Sure, some had issues with defects and failures, but most of them got taken care of one way or another.

All I'm saying is that the same pretty much applies to Yihi too.

I guess I may have gotten evolv bent over with my many warranty returns by destroying dna40s accidentally. Every tinge was my fault. Or it could be the amazing customer service that they provide, that no other chip manufacturer provides.

Just sayin

In any case, I think that Yihi will try to upgrade the class M for stainless steel and other TCRs (NiFe52 for example). The fact they updated the firmware to support Titanium shows it's doable (unless there's a limit on how low they can go, but that shouldn't involve NiFe52 at least). It would wonders for their brand reputation and they'd be fool not to take the chance, especially considering their image as one of the (only) reputable brand from China for high-end stuff.

Disclaimer: I've never owned anything by YiHi and just the old Kick from Evolve.

Oh I'm aware of the DNA stuff. I didn't think it was relevant to vent about that in a yihi thread. I find the fanboism around here comical. Unless someone works for yihi or evolv they really shouldn't care. We're talking about an electronic device, not family and friends. lol

That was just in response to all the premature agony about the future of the SXM, the wailing and gnashing of teeth and proclamations about never buying anything from Yihi again because they're such a horrible, inconsiderate, money grubbing company for releasing an updated model and not taking proper care of prior customers.

You know, trying to point out to the folks that feel so certain they've predicted the future, that they've forgotten the past.

There is a difference with the v2 chip. Some things may not be doable with the v1 chip. All we can do is wait and see. If its not doable, its not doable, and Yihi as a company must move forward to stay in competition.

That's no different than not being able to change a DNA40 into a DNA200. You can't change an old nag into a racehorse.

Vaping moves too quickly for anyone to expect long periods of support add in there are very few companys in vaping that haven't crapped on customers at one time or another and the whole thing is buyer beware hence why I said buy the device that meets your needs at the time you have them don't buy any device from any company expecting all your future needs to be accommodated. This is business and to a point a customer driven business go on any vaping forum anytime you'll find someone wanting more and expecting to have it soon, the point about the v1 chip not being capable of what people want from it now may well be true but yihi nor most company's are going to shout from the rooftops about their products failings.

Reality is the m class works and is more then satisfactory for the vast majority of those who've bought it and the miniscule minority not happy with it being totally honest yihi doesn't overly concern itself about too much. That attitude is not unique to yihi and vape long enough and buy enough stuff your going to suffer from it at some point.

Truth. I expect a few years from now this will change.
