New York Attorney General Schneiderman harasses (and issued witch hunt subpoenas to) many companies that market e-liquid to adult vapers, penalizes four companies because several of their products didn’t comply with NY’s child-resistant packaging law several weeks after new law went into effect, falsely insinuates law would have prevented the death of a toddler whose adult supervisor irresponsibly removed a child-resistant cap from e-liquid bottle and then left the open bottle near the unattended child.

Note that AG Schneiderman sent subpoenas (demanding virtually all of corporate records for the past 4 years) to more than a dozen e-liquid manufacturers and/or retailers several weeks after the NY State child-resistant packaging law went into effect. No NY state agency has yet to notify/warn any e-cigarette companies located in NY about the new law.

I won't be convinced about the cause of death of the child until I see the official report. I have read the bottle was unflavored 10% nic. How much did the child consume? I'd like to know what action the care givers and first responders took. I recall something reported that the baby sitter might have tried to induce vomiting. Did the child choke to death? If politicians are going to use this case for their political agenda then the incident deserves further disclosure.

except for New York city coroners in the state are elected.
most if not all also work in the funeral business.
unless there is reasonable evidence other wise the coroner
determines the cause of death by interviews and the physical
evidence on hand. a child was found convulsing next to an
opened bottle of liquid nicotine. the child was transported
to the hospital and died there.cause of death. nicotine
poisoning. it is unknown if in fact any toxicology was done
pre or post mortem. i do not think the coroner not being a
doctor has the authority to request any testing. testing
could be requested by the police dept. if they thought it
was needed but, they rely on the coroners opinion unless
sufficient evidence indicates otherwise.someone has to
be responsible to pay for the testing.
the cap for the bottle of nicotine was never recovered.
no one knows when, why or,how it went missing.
i did not know this until the coroners results were released.
an attempt was made to induce vomiting. i am not certain
if it actually was induced.first responders arrived very quickly
and transported the child to the hospital post haste.
i have wondered myself if the missing cap has something
to do with this. i can not believe however something as simple
as choking could have been over looked.
i might add other than the official cause of death any thing
gathered in the conduct of the coroners investigation is
considered confidential information and is protected
under the privacy laws of the state.
