Hi.

I'm a new poster so I can only post here. I wanted to respond to the thread on the main page of this forum.

NY State is voting on an ecig ban. If you haven't yet, check it out:

Please write, no matter what state you are from. They always start this stuff in high profile NY so they can get a foothold. Forgive my cynicism..

There is a much more eloquent and even handed letter to the Assembly by Treece on page 2 of the thread. It brilliantly handles the out of state issue.

Here is my version:

Hi.

I am a lifetime resident of New York State, City of Brooklyn.

I was a pack a day smoker for 30 years. I started when I was 13.

I received my first electronic cigarette 38 days ago and haven't had a cigarette since. That's 761 cigarettes that I HAVEN'T smoked.

Now you want to take that away. Cigarettes are legal but you don't want me to breathe water vapor. Where were you when I was buying cigarettes at age 13?

Cigarettes kill people. Why don't you ban them? Alcohol kills, guns kill, bows and arrows kill. Unplowed streets in outer boroughs kill...

Maybe you could cover each citizen in bubble wrap and make us wear helmets?

Albany is a complete mess. We all know that. Maybe your time could be better spent?

Why do I get the feeling that if Philip Morris sold Electronic Cigarettes you wouldn't be seeing A01468 on Tuesday??

I smell a rat.

Thank You

It's pretty obvious that the tobacco & drug companies are behind the push to get ecigs banned. The tack I would take would be that guns, bows and arrows etc don't kill people. People kill people and by voting to ban ecigs they are effectively killing people by forcing them back to tobacco

Well said!
