Outdoor smoking ban in New York | The Sun |News

They will make it an offence to light up in any of the city's 1,400 parks and along 23 miles of coast line.
NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg said: "This summer, New Yorkers who go to our parks and beaches for some fresh air and fun will be able to breathe even cleaner air and sit on a beach not littered with cigarette butts."
The ban will also be put in place in pedestrian areas such as Times Square.
People will face hefty fines of £60 if they are spotted smoking.

As I read the new e-cig law, this would also include vaping.

The anti's are out to getcha.:(:?::facepalm:

What "new e-cig law"? Are you talking about the bill that was passed by the New York State Assembly Health Committee? It's not a law. A bill has to be passed by both houses (it hasn't even been voted on by the full Assembly yet--it is being considered by the Assembly's Codes Committee right now), both houses (Assembly and Senate) have pass some versions of the bill, negotiate to agree on identical wording, and then the Governor has to sign it before it becomes a law.

And that bill, by the way, is a ban on selling e-cigarettes, not on using them.

Or is there some new "e-cig law" banning use of them that got passed in New York City while we were not looking?

Hey Vocalek, do you ever get the feeling that all our efforts in this war are pointless? Like the people in charge only care about money and just simply ignore us?

A lot of them do, but there are a few who listen. We just need to make that group larger. It's always a lot more difficult at the beginning of things. We need to build to a critical mass of folks who really, really understand.

What gets me mad is the FACT that some do understand yet still want to ban it. I want to personally slap them in the face with a plate armor glove =)

Smoking and even the "Behavior" of smoking (E-cigarettes) will never ever ever ever
be sociably accepted.

"The War" (in my opinion) has always been and continues to be nothing more than
a fight to prevent E-cigarette ban(s).

Rule #1 of all politicians is Re-Election and at best we only can influence enough of them
to vote against banning E-cigarettes... NOT to support E-cigarettes.

E-smoking will NEVER be a sociably accepted behavior...At best only tolerated.
