New ZAP - first RBA

I just received my ZAP and it is my first rba. Since these seem to sell in batches and I've seen more than a few "I got mine!"s over the weekend I figured I'd start a thread for us first-timers to share our frustrations and victories as we get up and running.

Any "do this"/"don't do that" advice, or must-have thread links from the veterans also much appreciated. Wish me luck. I've spent my day trying to figure out what flavor to use for the virgin run.

I posted this in a different thread but since your looking for advice...

I reccommend using a solid #500 wick in the zap, and 5 wraps, youll get about 2 ohms out of that (i said the O word ) which is perfect for the range of the provari, imo it works better w/ higher resistance/higher voltage. also you can do the petar k method w/ zens because he includes an insulator, I barely even oxidise my wicks, and they wick much better because of it. just a quick once over w/ the torch before i roll it and no juice burns to clog up the mesh. when doing a solid wick, make sure it just barely fits into the insulator, w/ the tighter fit, it will wick better and you wont leak as much.

i don't know how you get a solid wick to "wick" on that. It just didn't work for me

I'm trying to show some modicum of restraint as I finish my workday but I'm weak. I'm going to follow along with the start-up video on ProVape and see how it goes.

Not too bad. I'm sure there will be a ton more questions when it comes time to change a coil or a wick. I'm so used to my carto-tank crackle I find the silence odd. That was always my "it's firing" cue.






Now to enjoy! Initial reaction is "I can taste my juice!" (KBV Stargazer).

For a first genny it is great.
I'll be glad to answer any questions but I'm usually a day late and a dollar short as someone answers before I see the question.
Oh and Congrats on getting a quality piece of vaping gear.

I'm glad I refined my vaping inhalation technique over the last week. I was not going slow when I started vaping. Due to my smoking history I was taking big hits directly into my lungs.

Is juice discoloration a normal part if the "break-in" of the wick? I thought I maybe saw that somewhere today but didn't pay too much attention at the time. I read through a lot this evening.

Yes that happens.
It will not effect the liquid in anyway it's cause when the liquid heats up and then drains back down and mixes with the liquid already in the tank.
There is ways to reduce this or even stop it but if you are just now learning rebuildables it would confuse you for me to tell you how to fix it.
Here is a brief summary. You may need to get different mesh or use a burrito wick. Both are simple fixes really.

It's not really a part of the break-in; it's just something that commonly happens with Genesis-style atty's.
