Hi! This group doesn't look like anyone has said much in a while, but I'll introduce myself anyway!

I am Krystyna, I live in Las Vegas but as of October 16th I will be making the long drive to Eau Claire. My husband lost his job here, but quickly got a job offer out there, so he is already out there working in Eau Claire and Minneapolis.

I have never lived in Wisconsin, kind of nervous about such a big change. I have lived in Arizona, Colorado, New Jersey and of course, Las Vegas... but never the midwest. No family, no friends... it's going to take some adjusting!

Umm, more about me- I have 2 biological kids who live with me, 2 girls ages 6 and 1. I also have 2 step-daughters who live in Chicago with their mom, ages 9 and 15. I am really looking forward to spending more time with the older 2, since they will be closer! Oh, I also have a dog.. lol

I hope to hear from everyone, and maybe make some friends :)

Welcome to Wisconsin, and to our little slice of the Cheddar Curtain. Eau Claire's a beautiful part of the state - my mom and other assorted relatives live there, and I get up there about once a year-ish.

I don't envy you for moving up here with winter approaching us (make sure you've got plenty of WARM clothes!!!) - I wouldn't wish a Wisconsin Winter on ANYONE!

Welcome aboard. I do recommend buying very warm clothes and staying indoors as much as possible for your first winter here.

Lol! We will totally be buying lots of warm clothes! I lived in Colorado for 6 years, and although the climate may not have been identical, it may be similar. I sooo miss the snow, and I am so excited to be able to build snowmen with my kids again! How bad has the snow been there, in the previous years? I heard that MN/WI hasn't been getting quite as much as they used to, but to locals, that could mean a foot less a year, and in that case- THATS A LOT OF SNOW! LOL

My dad grew up in Milwaukee and later on, Manestique, MI. He has been telling me horror stories of 6 feet of snow overnight, and having to shovel it all the next day. That's just craziness! In Colorado, I think we got actually snowed in (couldnt get out of the house for 3 days) once in 6 years. I was 14 at the time though, and I thought it was great because I didn't have to go to school... LOL!

Two years ago we had record snow-fall levels. Last year we had quite a bit too. But sometime in January and occasionally in February, we will have extremely cold temperatures, that is the worst thing about our winters, the snow is wonderful, it's the deadly cold that is not so nice.

Deadly huh? Sounds like Vegas, but opposite. People seem to drop like flies here, from the blistering heat. I will be very careful our first year there, sounds much colder than Colorado. I am starting to second guess having a minivan as the family vehicle... I'll probably get stuck in the snow or something!

Just buy some Nokian tyres, you'll be fine.

Hi and welcome!
I moved here from Texas 19 years ago, I have still not gotten use to the cold winters, but I am still alive!
On the other hand, I sure have a beautiful collection of winter boots:)

I'm not a boot wearing kinda girl, but I may have to start, huh? LOL I'm sure I won't freeze to death, just going to have to invest in a few more hoodies, and some heavy jackets! :)

LOL, I was not either, and still would rather wear my flip flops, in fact I wear them until my toes get to cold.
I have been known to sport flip flops at the same time I am wearing a sweater:)
