Yello, bit new to this; been about 2 weeks now using a secondhand ego-c twist with a kengertech protank2. Pretty satisfied overall with it considering I've replaced cigarettes altogether with vaping instead. Not too informed about it either so any suggestions would help especially any beginner tips and what I should know before I start getting any mods; any resources etc etc, please and thank you

to ecf allyewpz. So glad you are here and a big congrats on the two weeks. That is awesome. Not a thing wrong with ego style batteries. I was a heavy smoker and I needed something a little more. After the egos, I went for box mods. The mvp2 has a fantastic battery life. I started dripping so of course I fell in love with the reo because it is the ultimate dripper and I am 99.9% sure this is where I will stay. You just have to read reviews and watch YouTube's and find out what you think you will be happiest with. If you find something, run it past the wonderful people on ecf to see if it has respectable user reviews. Can save money that way. Good luck to you and I look forward to reading more about your adventure.

Here is a great place to find some deal if you don't already know about it.

Thanks so much! I will definitely check out the links; I too was a heavy smoker (now just a heavy vaper?) Bout a pack maybe a pack and a half depending on the day and mood and I'm definitely looking for something a little stronger than what I have so I've been reading up on switching from Egos to Mech Mods. My interest is really piqued but of course I need to research a bit more before actually going forth with it. I really like the strength of the vapor and the taste is much better so hopefully soon I can make the switch. Thanks again, super helpful!

Welcome and congratulations, allyewpz! :) Might I suggest casing out your local brick and mortar stores also? That way you can hold and handle any mod you may be interested in as well as try out any ejuices before buying. Of course, you will find buying on line cheaper, but your stores may have people who can give you first hand, face to face, information and instruction that for a beginner is.....calming. Plus, in case of an emergency, it's good to know a good store for a quick fix.

You may also find out that there are "vape meets" in town or clubs to join. Fun to go to and meet fellow vapers.

Mech mods are for those who know their Ohm's Law, all about battery safety and have the equipment to check all necessary measurements. Please read Baditudes Blogs on batteries. He's our resident guru on these things. "Regulated" (safer) box mods are now being manufactured to produce the same kind of experience as a mech without the drop in battery power.

Meanwhile, a very nice intermediate step up from the twist could be the new MVP 20watts just come out with either size (5 ml or mini) Nautilus with bottom vertical coils (BVC). If the new MVP20 holds up like it's older brother the MVP2 (11 watts), it will become a "standard" go to device for many.

Just read, read, read and don't jump into something you're not sure about. It's a wonderful, amazing journey of discovery and learning. Get ready to enjoy yourself! :laugh:

Thank you so much that was wicked helpful. Upon some browsing I found an interesting regulated mod: Smoke Bec Pro Mod any thoughts on that? I wouldn't mind getting a box mod but I'd prefer a telescopical mod.

Smok is a very reputable brand; they make good quality products;
Not at the low end of the cost spectrum.

Thanks both of you! Yes I looked at the cost and from the direct source it is priced at 99.99, however, I did find one elsewhere for about 15 dollars cheaper. I don't mind shelling out the money for something I plan on using for awhile or at least until I'm familiar with the technological details of modding (of course for safety reasons). I will most definitely look into the Eleaf as it looks pretty compact. Any thoughts on tank upgrades along with whatever new mod I decide to purchase (will be about a couple weeks give or take)? I enjoy the PT2 I have now but I'd like something with better airflow/taste? Seems a little harsh compared to a couple mech mods I've tried from a friend.

The two hot tanks right now are the aspire atlantis and the kanger subtank.

The subtank is coming with a rebuildable option.

Might help to know what other vape setups you have tried. If your friend was using a dripper its not really fair to compare to a ego and its a big leap from ego to dripper.

As far as your juice changing characteristics, when was the last time you changed the coil in your device? A old gunky coil can cause issues.
