A little tip for straightening Kanthal or any wire for that matter. Grab your bigger screwdriver or even a ball point pen, trap a length of the wire between your thumb and the shaft and pull the wire through. It will curl the wire but you can rotate the wire and swipe it again to get the wire nice and smooth.

Looks like you're getting some good help here so I hope you get your other problems sorted soon.

I'm going to pull that Slinky looking mess out of the closet and try this. Thanks, JD!

It works!! Running the Plume Veil at a perfect 2.0 ohms at 9.5 watts on the Vamo! And it's STAYING at 2.0 ohms! Yip!

Here's what helped (for some poor struggling idjit like me that lands on this thread..)
1) 30 gauge is a lot easier to work with than 24 gauge. Getting a nice, tight coil was damn near impossible with 24g. Piece of cake with the 30g.

2) I gave up coiling with that little screwdriver (size unknown) and tried coiling the wire with the 2 mm screwdriver that came in my $4.99 screwdriver set. Coils became much smaller. Coil was easier to insert into the atomizer and 'fit' better within the cap. Might also explain why this build fires and the other ones didn't.

3) The positive posts on the Plume Veil are higher up from the deck than the postive posts are on the Igo-W. Easier to get at without bending the heck out of the coil.

4) That Benzamatic torch I bought wants Benzamatic butane fluid. Tried to fill it with Zippo butane fluid. Bad loading connection. Thank God I tried to fill the torch over the bathroom sink! Cleaned up the mess and went with a Bic lighter lol...worked just fine!

5) Compared to the Smok BCC's I usually use, the RDA goes through juice a lot faster.

6) Velvet Cloud Vapor's Night Shift is everything the website describes it as. And I had a tough time feeling any love for it on a BCC tank. There are some very definite advantages to an RBA/RDA

Okay, last question. While it's putting out a decent amount of vapor, what would you guys suggest for a "cloud-chucker" build?
Nobody's hitting me up for juice, so I guess we'll let that go..Thank you, everybody!

Depends on what you will be using... Mech mod or regulated. My mech mod dripper is built at .3 ohm using dual coil 8 wraps at 24 gauge..... It puts out some respectable cloud. I've found that on a regulated mod you can get good cloud using 28 gauge built at 1-1.2 ohm

Had trouble getting tight coils myself. Some things I figured out:

1. I put wrapped the coil two turns around a drill bit, then put the bit and the two wraps in the drill (to use the drill like a vise that holds both the bit and one end of the wire). Then I wrap the wire around the drill bit by hand to make the tight coils I'll actually keep. This approach lets me use two hands to wrap the coil. (It's also possible to turn the drill on and let it spin the bit to make tight coils.)

2. Always keep the center of the wire spool parallel to what you are wrapping the wire around. That way the wire will bend and retain its shape. If you don't keep the center of the spool parallel to what you are wrapping the wire around, the wire will both bend and twist; the twisting will make the wire act like a spring, storing energy that causes the coils to separate as soon as you release tension on the wire.

A 1.6 ohm single coil at 5.0 volts on a vamo produces a good amount of vapor. The vamo has a limit on current and power output, so there's a limit to what you can accomplish even if you were to build the optimal atomizer for it. I'm going to upgrade to a 25 W or 50 W box mod with variable voltage (and some safety features) if I can find one that's inexpensive and reliable.

I also saw a video where the guy used poster tack to keep it on the spool....but I like the extra hole idea...because poster tack is, well.....tacky....lol

Yuck ... I try to keep glue off of my coils.

Once my 24ga (my favorite) unspooled I got fed up with trying to rewind it so I just stuck got rid of the spool and stuck the wire to a magnet and stuck that to my desk lamp. Now whenever I need a piece I just reach over and clip a piece. No more headache!

It's not glue.....it's more like playdoh.
