Looking to get into mechanicals and rebuildables. I jumped the gun and ordered a sigelei 8W, now I need something to put on it. I've been looking at the Richman rba, the RSST, and the aga t2. I've read that RDAs are the place to start, but I really want a tank of some sort.

Also, I'm beginning to wonder if the 8W was a good buy. I'm getting the feeling that its not going to work properly out of the box. Not that I'm anti tinkering, I'd just like my first mech mod to work out of the box so I can just focus on getting a good wick and coil set up.

So, I guess what I'm wondering is, what would you recommend in a mech mod and RBA?

I don't have an 8w. But ive heard they look good with an rsst.
As far as rebuildables, some rda, like an igo-l, would be the easiest to learn how to work on. That being said, i started with an aga-t2. They are not hard to build and there are plenty of videos to help you along. The RSST is probably easier to build if you are first getting started. It seems to have less issues with hotspots between the center post and the wick, which is what i had trouble with when i started out. I haven't tried a richman, but have one ordered and i hear they are pretty great. That being said, i would say try an rsst or if you feel like trying a dripper (which i thought i would hate at first) there are igo-ls that are easy to set up. Check out vaporjoes for some sales and you should be able to get a good price on either.

Congrats on the Sigelei 8. I believe it is one of the better mods from Sigelei and should work fine out of the box, with some potential for tweaking.

That said, my suggestions would be:
- Getting into RBA/RDA, you might benefit from more research and reading (or Youtube videos)
- A fair amount of the online information is somehow geared towards the intermediate/advanced. For example you might want to skip the 'super low resistance', 'huge clouds of vapor' kind of videos and pick the ones that are more detailed and go over the basics
- I would keep the mechanical mod and RBA subjects separate at first and focus on the RBA. If you have a regulated and protected VV/VW device (highly recommended), that would be the best platform to start with RBAs.
- Before going into mechanical mods, make sure to have basic info about battery safety and voltage/resistance/current relation.

If you are anti-tinkering I would also suggest starting with a dripper rebuildable first. SS mesh wicks will be a bit fiddly at the beginning. An igo-l could be a nice start. Besides a dripping atomizer is always nice to have if you are trying out some new juice. For the same reason I would not suggest the Terminator. I think it would be even more difficult than a Genesis setup.

Just my 2c.

http://.........blogspot.com/2013/07/hot-smoktech-rsst-2295.html - this just popped up today
RSST for the low low

And i don't know anyone who started rebuilding without "sloppy work".. but if you're worried about this, try the aga-t2. It won't let you be sloppy, thats for sure.

I'm not anti tinkering, I just would like a mech mod thats good to go out of the box so I can focus on the RBA. I know there's going to be a lot of tinkering before I get one up and running properly. I've been stalking the forum here, and watching youtube videos and such for a while. It seems like the performance of a RBA will make it worth the headache of learning to set it up. The only issue with the youtube videos is they make it all look too easy.

I looked at the Terminator C. I'm not sure I fully understand how it works, the need for non resistance wire makes it sound like it would be more difficult to set up. But, what do I know? I'm still trying to figure out how steel works as a wick.

I do think I'm going to jump on that deal for the RSST. I'd really prefer if it had a pyrex tank, but it looks pretty simple set up, so I think it will be a good starting point.

Hi Jason_S,
Sorry if I sounded too pedantic.
I agree with you about the mech mods, they should work out of the box. (For example my sigelei 19 was a total PITA to get to work ok., strongly 'not-recommended').
RSST should be great. (I don't have it yet, waiting for some mysterious accident breaking the aga-t :) ). AFAIK it is more comfortable to work with and possibly giving better 'flavor'.
Happy vaping.
