Greetings.

I decided to try vaping to supplement smoking, and allow me to "smoke" in non-smoking places. I read a lot of stuff here before I tried anything. I got "free" samples of Njoy gold, Apollo, and bought a Blu. The blu tasted like crap, the Njoy was nearly identical to an analoge, and I have yet to try the Apollo.

I went to a vapor shop and bought a starter kit with an Ego-T and 2 ml clearomizer, a long 510 with two Smok cartomizers, case, chargers, etc. They mix their own juice, so I got "cowboy red" ;) and cinnamon. Both at 18 mg.

I like vaping!!!

The Smok cartos on the 510 do not work very well. Not even as well as all the disposables I have tried. Anyone have any clue why that would be?

The eGo-T, OTOH, is wonderful. I need a stealthier way to vape when I am out and about, so any suggestions on how to improve my 510/Smok setup is appreciated. There just isn't a good, dense vapor unless I take a really, really long draw.

If you want stealth, they do make little mini eGo batteries and they are fairly cheap as well. Is this the kind of stealth you are looking for or do you want something with less girth? http://www.vaporbeast.com/product_p/a46.htm . You can find this at Smoketek.com and other places as well.

Now I know you want to be stealthy but clearomizers are the ticket if you want to kick out vapor. Bad thing is most of them mute the flavor a bit.

If you want something more stealthy and decent vapor production, I would go with Boge Cartomizers. These cartos are some of the best on the market, quality and reliability. Put these on a mini eGo, you can't get much smaller then that

Make sure you get some in a low enough ohms, for instance 2.0< = low resistance & 2.1> = standard resistance
I would go low resistance with your set up on either batteries you have now(any eGo of smaller)

If you need help finding a website that carries these, post back and I'm sure one of us can assist you

Oh yeah welcome to the forum, you will love it here. If you have a question on anything don't be shy and post it and I'm sure on of us will help you

OK, so the issue seems to be with one of my cartomizers. The other one works pretty well. On another note, how well is vaping perceived by the general public? Has anyone told you to stop, and you then had to explain what you were doing? I went to two bars last night, asked management if it was OK, and both said yes. No one gave me any funny looks, but I wonder how others have faired.

I'm now thinking of getting a small ego battery and a small clearomizer for carrying. Is there a good hard case that is small enough to fit in my pocket with that setup?

If the Smok cartos are high resistance that could be the problem.

Howdy!

I can't help you with the kit but I have something to say about vaping stealth vs openly.

I vape tall and proud. I vape in coffee shops, grocery stores, bars, restaurants, the public library and pretty much anywhere else I happen to be. I've gotten some funny looks but no one's ever come up and complained to me. If I'm in a place I suspect I might get a complaint in I switch my juice over to hhv powder keg as that's a juice that people can smell from a mile away. As much as they might want to complain when they see my vaporous exhale they get a very confused look on their face when they smell chocolate. I get a lot of positive feedback from strangers who are intrigued/interested about vaping because of powder keg. More than 1 person, both smokers and non smokers, have asked me if vaping really works and I always say 'It's the only thing that I tried that got me off cigarettes'.

Some people argue that we should vape stealthily or vape outside in designated smoking areas. I'm of the belief that since vaping doesn't violate a 'no smoking' law I need to vape openly to make people accustomed to it. If a store mgr. or employee tells me I can't vape in their establishment I apologize for breaking their policy and stop vaping. No argument. I leave the establishment and put it on my foursquare list of 'Not Electronic Cigarette Friendly' places and never return.

I've been vaping openly everywhere I go, and have come to expect the curious looks and questions from complete strangers. With one exception, everyone has been very supportive. The vapor cloud looks so much like smoke that some people just can't accept it. One person has insisted I stop because the vapor was "invading her space". I wanted to tell her that the smell of her cheap perfume invading my space, but I was raised to mind my own business! I guess for some, if it looks bad, it must be bad.

I like the "Vape tall and proud" comment :D

A couple quick questions....

I bought an expensive (for me) car about 1.5 years ago. I never smoked in it, although I always smoked in every other car I have had. The questions is, will vaping leave any sort of film or residue in the car?

Another question is, does anyone get "battery anxiety" when out and about? How do you prepare for the battery running out? Carry a spare, charge before leaving home, only use huge batteries?

And on that note, why don't batteries have some sort of meter (like a cell phoe), so you know how much charge is left?

The shop where I bought my eGo-T had a sign indicating that batteries should be fully discharged before recharging. Is that correct? I thought Lithium Ion batteries had no memory effect, so topping off the charge would not be bad.

I'm thinking I like this vaping thing too much ;)

Once you have quit, you may and should have battery anxiety. I had been smokefree for about three weeks when I suddenly discovered that all of my batteries were spent. I panicked and broke down, drove the 3 minutes to the convenience store down the street and bought a pack.

Took a puff. Whoa, nasty. I nearly puked is was so awful. I managed a couple more drags and put it out, and have never smoked or wanted another cigarette since. Point is, don't ever put yourself in that situation to buy another pack of cigarettes. Smoking is way too easy and convenient than vaping, don't put yourself in a compromising situation. Always have juice and extra CHARGED batteries.

How you prepare against this situation depends upon your setup. If you use a device that uses replaceable, rechargeable batteries like a mod, then you carry spare batteries with you safely. Battery Cases

You don't want to carry these batteries in a pocket or purse where they may touch metal and create a current line. This can short the battery out and lead to catastrophe. These batteries must be used with caution and common sense. Below is a battery that shorted and vented in thermal runaway in one of my mods, do to human error on my part.

Trustfire2.jpg

You need to know the mah rating of the battery that you use, measured in mAh. 100 mAh is equal to one hour battery use. So a 900 mAh battery will last 9 hours on average. Just knock the two last digits off the mAh and you got the expected hours of use. Some of the larger batteries have a rating of 2000 mAh or more, so those will last an entire day.

The mini-cigalikes are a different story. Being that they are so small, they only last 3-4 hours at most. Therefore, you need to plan appropriately and bring enough with you to last for however long that you will be out.
_____

Vapor can and does leave some film on surfaces. I noticed the other day that my rear view mirror has a dry film on it. It's certainly not the yellow stains that cigarette smoke left behind on everything, but its there. And no lasting smoke odor.
_____

Many of the more advanced electronic mods that have variable voltage have built-in battery voltage meters. Some of them even will warn you when the battery is low by blinking the power switch or have some type of voltage level left of the battery on the LED display. For a simpler e-cig, you can get a stand-alone battery meter like these: Meters
_____

Concerning the sign you saw stating that batteries should be fully discharged before recharging, I've always heard the opposite to be true. I'd heard that by recharging a fully discharged battery is hard on the battery life, and that you could extend its life by early recharging before it needed it.
