A month ago, just before a vacation with family I bought an e-cig from the local cigar shop. They had one brand and model. I bought it, it works OK, good enough to show me there is something that will help me quit!

Upon returning from vacation I found this ECF group, did more research and bought an EGO, cartomizers and different juices. Very happy with everything. Still trying to find the right flavor and strength, I hope there is an end to that process soon, it is all fun but my wallet needs a break!

This group has made the difference for me. Thank You All.

Thanks for the replies,
It is awesome that people with hundreds and thousands of posts hang out here to help us newbs. My first e-cig was a ripoff and I would have given up on it if it wasn't for the advise found here.
Thanks Again!

Welcome and congrats on your new e cig! I just joined last week, and I am so happy to be a part of community. You are so right! Everyone is helpful and friendly! I've actually started to hang out here more than Facebook!

Grats! You could check the 2010 Vapenstein Awards - maybe you'll see an award-winning juice that catches your interest. I am having trouble posting the link - just search Google for 2010 Vapenstein Awards

Yeah juices are killing my wallet too because I got loaded up on 18mg then (surprise to me) suddenly decided I wanted to drop my nic to 12mg. I did that, and as soon as I had a decent stock of 12mg juices, I got the bug to drop to 6mg. Now I am mainly just buying 0mg to cut old juices with the same or a compatible flavor.

If you are having trouble finding your nic level then it may not be your nic level that's the problem. When I started I found I had to have a tobacco juice with good TH or I didn't feel satisfied. I tried to vape a fruity juice and it made me crave an analog. I kept trying lots of tobacco juices and finally found my first love, Backwoods Brew Casablanca (a complex Turkish blend w/ some cocoa and my old fave cigs and most cigs have cocoa in them). Once I found a juice that hit the spot for me, it was a whole new level of satisfaction. I also liked another Turkish Blend, FreedomSmokeUSA Desert Ship. Around 6-8 weeks into vaping I started changing up my tobaccos with other flavors (vanillas, chocolates, caramels, fruits) and now I can just vape other flavors.

If you are unsure of your nicotine, you could buy (or save) a few empty bottles and buy a 0 nicotine version of a juice that would be a good flavor to mix with whatever you are vaping (like a plain tobacco if you are vaping tobaccos). Then you can mix lower levels of your juices if you need them. Like with a 24mg and a 0mg of the same juice you can easily make the levels in between.

And BTW FreedomSmokeUSA Cocoa (I use 70pg/30vg) is a good juice for beefing up weak tobaccos and for cutting sweetness.

Welcome and congrats!! ECF is a fantastic place. I've survived a year just because of this great place!

Another note to Mouse's post on nic levels. When I first started I went with higher mgs (24). I got horrid jitters and too much nicotine. I had to drop the level. It wasn't until much later that I realized it wasn't the level. It was that I was doing some serious chain vaping. I was using it like a pacifier. So naturally getting too much nic. It's absorbed completely different.
After dropping my nic. Finding my 'all day'. Adding other things to help (snuff, supplements, etc) .. THEN I needed to up my nic again.
I no longer feel the need to chain vape. And if on the off chance I do, it's not a big deal to put it down and walk away.

Anyway.. My point is, don't get too frustrated if you don't knock the ball out of the park on the first swing. Ask around. You will get oodles of advice and someone is bound to help.

That's part of the reason I'm going to DIY.
