Hey Vapanators! First post here... I've been lurking this site for about 8 dizzying hours today, and I think I'm close to deciding what piece I want to get for my first one. I've never vaped. This is a nice forum, btw. Low BS ratio and helpful members from what I can tell. :)

My smoking habits are about 2-3 packs a week, and most of that is when I go out. A pack per night would be the max. I only have a few at home, so battery life is important to me. The only thing I smoke is American Spirit Organic Full Flavor, since all the other creepy additives physically nauseate me.

I'm leaning toward the Screwdriver MKII with the default DSE901 Atomizer, from Totally Wicked. The reviews seem solid, and this looks like a unit that will perform well and last a long time. I realize it isn't generally listed as a beginners vape, but I don't want to waste unnecessary cash trying several. I don't like buying cheap first, only to realize what I'm missing and need to replace later. The factors that are appealing to me are (from what I can tell):

-solid construction
-long battery life
-low cost of battery replacement
-decent pocket size/length
-adaptable to 510 later if I need more throat hit
-it looks great (nice design, Trog!)
-lack of LED (I figure it should be pretty obvious if I'm getting a hit or not with some experience.)
-reasonable cost

At some point after more intensive research I intend to try making my own juice. How does this unit do for dripping? I'm not keen on the idea of heating polyfil and huffing it.

Am I off-base on my thought process thusfar? What do you all think? I greatly appreciate any considerations on my selection. TIA!

I can't wait to use this in a pub during a heated pool match... ;)

I have the SD MKII. I have had it for 2 months now with no problems. I direct drip with no problems. Till you get used to Dripping you will leak all over but you will learn. I drip 2 drops then vape it. You just have to vape all that liquid in one sitting. I had a hard time remembering to do that. The battery lasts me all day. That is 16 hours. I used to smoke 2 packs a day. The Lanyard is nice. It keeps it close while driving or if you are doing something. Mine never leaves my neck. I would get some LR atomizers they work great with dripping and nice vapor. It fires every time I hit it.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it is not dual voltage. Other than that it is a great mod.

If you want to save 7.5% PM me and I will give you my promo code.

That's good to hear. Thanks a lot Bigham1- very nice of you. Are you happy with the DSE901 or would you recommend getting a 510 adapter with it? Also how is Wicked's juice?

I can't pm you until I have 5 posts.

I have the 901 and 510 attys. I prefer the 901's but my GF has the eGo which is 510 so I am converting to them just to make it easier and cheaper for me. The 510's IMO are better for dripping. I don't get as much leaking.

TW Juice is pretty good. I used the Decadent Vapours flavors. I have their Cafe Brasiliano - Good coffee flavor, Caramel - not so good but it is good to mix with other flavors. Chocolat au lait - a hint of chocolate but a good all day vape and Lotus Flower - Weird at first but it has grown on me. I vape it when I want to wind down for the day.

I don't know if I am allowed to post my promo code here or not and you can't get PM's. Maybe a moderator will stop by and let me know if I can.

I also have the MKII, but I found that it performed much better with either a 510 or LR510 atty, rather than the 901. I got much better flavor and vapor out of the 510, than the 901. I no longer use the MKII, but it is a quality mod that performs as described.

Maybe this person would buy your MKII? Since you are not using it.

Well TW has been good to me and their prices are in line with everyone. Their Attys are at a good price if you buy the 5 pack. Plus they replaced a few attys that died before the 28 days. Someone on this forum mentiond a site that had attys with a year warranty but they are around 12 a peice. But it is still worth it if they honor the warranty.

My Screw Driver mkII just showed up from totally wicked. Like I just walked in the door 15 minutes ago, just showed up. The kit included a 901 to 510 conversion kit, with two of both attys. I've dripped on the 901, and the 510 just now with the same flavor. Maybe it's just that the 901s need to be broken in a bit more, but I think the 510 is producing a better vapor, and much more flavor.

But the 510 is about 3 months old and very well broken in, and the 901 is still new... so... the long and the short from me, is I'd hook up the 510 conversion kit for sure.

The screwdriver mk2 was the only mod I bought b4 switching and building battery mods. Its very well made and worked always.
The 510 atomizers that come in the kit from tw are better imo, they are 2.5 ohm and the 901 atomizers are 3.2 ohm that come with the kit. Plus the 510 has a better airflow so probally why the 510 is producing better vapor. I would have kept mine but the juice feeding and var voltage mods beat it out.

I received my MKII yesterday and gave it a thorough workout. I used the 901 with the blank cart and TW juice. Really nice. I had maybe 3 analogs for the evening, and it normally would have been at least 10-15. So far the hits are plenty strong with the 24mg juice and the taste is good (it goes well with Shiraz ;) ), albeit a completely unique experience. I was expecting that though. I definitely like that its a manual so I can prime for a second before hitting it.

Thanks for all your feedback! It made me feel more comfortable with my purchase. Bigham1 thanks a mil for the promo code. It saved almost 10 bones. BTW it only took 3 days to get this and shipping was only $7. I would completely recommend TW and the MKII on my impressions so far to anyone who is new to this and doesn't know what to buy or where to buy from. :)
