It was a great pleasure to browse the forum for the first time. I have spent a decent whole evening going through most of the posts. As with many others, I accidentally found this site after I made an initial purchase with Crown7 (still in mail, will get it on tuesday  .. wait). I will wait until my first day of use to post any reviews or comments about Crown7 cigar. From all the posts I see, the tobacco cigarette looks pretty nasty to me and makes me dream and drool over this new sensation.

I have been smoking Marlboro menthols for past 7 years and probably half a pack a day at most. I always wanted to kick the habit, however, late nights as a hard working student always made me to take short breaks and have a smoke out in the open. This grew upon on me and would escalate to having a smoke any time I would take a short walk. I felt strongly that in near future this habit would push me to over a pack per day and worse later, a chain smoker. So I started to lurk on the internet for safer options of controlled nicotine delivery without harmful elements. The closest I came in my initial search was with vaporizers (others such as gum and patches don't have the smoke ingredient, which is what makes most uber happy :p ).

Even though there were a lot of decent vaporizers for under $100, I couldn't make up my mind to buy one of them. Most of the discussions on vaporizers talk about weed (THT) and never explain if they can be used with tobacco safely, and even if they did I kinda guessed that the taste of the vapor would really be nasty ( experienced from a home made simple vapo and tobacco from cigarette :ugeek: ). And somehow I decided to make my own water and ceramic beads scrubbing filter system for the cigarette, that will leech out all the tar and unwanted stuff. It was a super flop  , as I later found that as nicotine is water soluble, the filter in effect was more effective in stripping out nicotine than others. So I ended up having smelly smoke and nothing else, and my cravings never satisfied. Also it was so huge that I cannot carry it around to smoke it whenever I wanted.

It was then I happened to search for something small and portable and landed up with e-cig. However, I had prior experience in ordering electronics from chinese websites and they usually come in cheap bubble wraps, getting dinged or scraped and worse sometimes stuck at customs (and don't start with shipping, once I had to pay $45 shipping for a .99 cent cable  ). So I looked for options available in US and ordered the starter cigar kit from Crown7. I went for the cigar even though it was larger, as I thought it probably has a better battery capacity and hence the atomizer has more power and for longer time. It would be only a minor inconvenience for its size, so add a lanyard with that and you are set.

So there you go, that was my story. I have been very much impressed with the board members attitude to this new venture and I am glad that I am not seeing teenagers coming and bragging they smoked these in schools (as I found in most other places when on this topic :( ). The members are very mature, talented and enthusiastic in sharing ideas and tricks. I am pretty sure that I will have a great time in this board and hope to have your support and encouragement. Cheers  .

DUDE NO... this e-cig thing is sooo awesome.... i was like in class and just started like puffin my brains out... when my prof looked at me crazy, I stood up and said... mind your own lecture JACK... this is like water vapor... you don't see me complaining about the steam coming out of your coffee mug do you?! And so.. now i smoke in his class with no problems. I'm so cool now... everyone wants to be like me  . Just kidding of course. Didn't really do any of that, but newbie inspired me. N-E-ways, don't be surprised if when you get your device, either the battery or atomizer doesn't work properly. Just notify crown and they'll send out a replacement. I had to do that with my njoy... ironically, my 25 dollar cigar from DX has been pretty consistent. Good luck with alternative smoking. I'm sure if you're looking for nicotine intake without the nasty taste and smell of cigarettes, you've stumbled upon the best means of it so far.

There are lots of answers in this forum to questions newbies have. Glad you've looked around. I, too, have the e-cigar from DealExtreme (they're based in Miami and sell as cheap as can be found) and it's my main e-device. Has been for past three months. Also have an e-pipe and e-cig, but the cigar rules. Like you, I carry it in a lanyard around my neck. It's big enough that I don't fumble it, like I do the smaller cig. The e-pipe is so heavy that I need a servant to carry it around for me, and I had to lay her off in this bad economy. Welcome to our world.

Thank you very much for the welcome ... I hope to join the endeavor as soon as I receive the package and batteries charged up. However, I will take advice of EricD and hope that the parts work for the first time.

Oh I happened to stumble upon the dutch forum which seems to have a ton of information too (however not much on american brands) that might be useful to everyone. I use bablefish to translate the pages from dutch to english and they are very much interpretable. They also have a ton of photos and information that we could share with out counterparts here.

Forum in Dutch: http://www.e-cigaret.com/forum/
BableFish link :http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/tr

Note: For people new to using BableFish just copy the forum url and paste it in the " Translate web page " box. Then select translate from Dutch to English and Click translate and browse the forum in english. You can also click open in tabs when necessary and the translator will translate it to english.

Oh, that's HYSTERICAL!!! I love Babel fish!

This thread has me a little worried:
"Age and slaughtered of e smokers "

As does this:
"Appraisal taste and liquid manure "

That thread contains the following scintillating comment:
"I want gladly know how peter assesses the taste and the liquid manure," and, "Already I have been aroused curiosity still to your personal taste - and liquid manure perception." And I must say, I am not a bit curious how Peter assesses the liquid manure.
