So.. I've been reading up on PVs and such on and off since april this year. did about 2 weeks worth back in april and picked it up again about 2 weeks before i ordered my 510. Really wish I wouldnt of jumped the gun and just gotten a mod. I dont care about size, i dont care about looks. I want my vape, i want my flavor and i want my power kick LOL. Screw the pretty colors, the slim designs.. i want a GLV-2 like bad. Waiting on my next check XD I may be a week old newbie at this, but I already feel I want more. Almost wish I would of just jumped right into the mod with all the reading I did and so forth. Would of made things a tad easier at least from my stand point. :)

So I have a question for the vapers that aren't so new, looking back at your first purchase and if you would of known what you know now, would you have gotten a mod right off the bat?

If the Buzz was available when I started vaping yes I would have. I have wasted allot of money on PVs and mods that the Buzz from notcig has made obsolete. I can vape at any voltage I want with it so I don't need 3.7 pv's any more nor 5 volt nor 6 volt mods either as the Buzz covers every voltage level the rest have. Definitely yes.

I think the learning experience of starting with something pretty basic is important. You don't have to spend a ton, just a basic starter kit, maybe with a longer lasting battery, is a good idea. I think it's important to start with something like that so you'll know how it's all supposed to work before making adjustments. Another thought, to discover vaping isn't for you after spending $60 or so for an eGo/Riva type kit vs spending $100+ for a good mod wouldn't be nearly as painful.

Just my opinion, worth what you paid for it.

You know I was going to say yes but thought some more and the answer is no only because it took me trial and error to find the right mod/mods. My original Joye 510 taught me a lot and made me research even more and even now the first mod I bought after my original e cig I barely use.

I would have to agree with you on this. I started with an eGo and have added a couple of RiVas. It seems unnecessary waste of money to immediately buy a mod, money that would be better spent on the millions of dollars worth of juice you have to buy until you find one you like. Some people may move on to a mod, some may discover that the eGo and RiVa suit their needs just fine and never feel the need to move on to bigger and better. If so, the starter kit is there for emergencies or to give to friends who want to try the wide world of vaping. But I think it's kinda foolish to jump off that overpass until you know what the water underneath it is like.
