I use a nautilus 5ml and an istick 30 or 50 watt for my running around and work. Total for that setup is about $50. A bit more for the 50 watt but you don't have to charge it as often. Great vape, great taste, low cost for premium gear that is also low maintenance. I don't advise the mini's because you're having to refill 2x as often and the full size isn't really that much bigger but that's just my opinion. To get her more interested, take her on a tour of local vape shops where she can try juices and see what's out there.
i second this...best vape out there

A few people have commented already that sub-ohm is going to be rough for a starter. I assumed the variable settings (temperature and airflow in this case) on it would let me temper it down regardless of the ohms. If I am to tempted by the setup (and it is really tempting still) I'll make sure to get the higher ohm coils that they offer. I'm really try to take in everyone thoughtful advice... I don't want to turn myself off from this either by being overzealous in my setup.

It's against my norm to suggest a sub ohm tank to a newbie. But one rule I strongly believe in is "walk before you run". "If" you decide on the Kanger Subtank Mini, start with the factory OCC 1.2 ohm coils. The first thing I would also recommend is to get rid of the car exhaust mouthpiece it comes with and get a smaller holed drip tip. I mouth to lung on my 1.2 ohm. If you're really wanting the 50W, treat yourself, but take your time learning about it. Using the 1.2 ohm coils is not much different than the 1.6 ohm on the Nautilus, but you have to learn to properly "mouth to lung". Once you have that down and want to grow you can move lower with the Subtank to the .5 and the rebuild deck. I'm really happy with my Subtank and the 1.2 ohm coils and don't have much desire to go any lower. I do get the feeling you'll sink your teeth into learning. Good luck in your decisions.

Don't worry about them being in the car for the ride home from the shop :). You can vape and drive. I can't imagine its too hot in the car while you're in it, or you would be in danger yourself.

Nope I'm not worried about it being to hot in the car while I'm in it. More I was wondering if using it in the car would eventually leave it's own odor (though i'm sure a better odor than smoking). That's one thing I've been a real stickler about no smoking in the house or the car. My other concern was that I don't really feel comfortable bringing an ecig into work (they don't know I smoke) and obviously I don't have the luxury of hiding it in a purse :) Honestly I've made it all this time just waiting until I get home after work, I'm sure I can continue that. I was just considering what possibilities vaping might open up.

I'd like to comment on the airflow. People here are suggesting Kanger subtanks, but even on the smallest airflow option, it's a wayyyy looser draw. All subtanks will be that way, they're designed for higher power, and thus require more airflow. I'd personally recommend a nautilus mini. I loved mine. AS far as battteries, there's so many that are so similar. If she's worried about the aesthetics, let her just pick one based on that. Chances are, it'll be fine for running a nautilus. As for you, I'd recommend an Eleaf 50w. It's kinda big for a nautilus mini, but you could alwayd get the full sized nautilus. I recommend it because you can easily upgrade to a subtank or dripper in the future

The Subtank Minis that comes with the Subox is supposed to have a revised air flow control (v3?) that is supposed to be able to handle mouth to lung hits now when closed down to the smallest. This is also why Kanger are coming out with 1.5 ohm coils now.

Thanks for the jwraps site. I didn't know something like that existed, that's a great way to make thing feel/look a little more personal.

Yeah, I wish the smoking rules thing would work, but that's not my wife. Truth is if I push to hard on the no smoking, she'll just do it when I'm not around. In the end it seems I prefer honesty to hiding even if it means she's smoking. My best bet is to research enough to make a good solid choice for vaping. I hope to show her there's a healthier, satisfying, and still enjoyable way to get our nicotine fix and let her make the choice to switch on her own.

the variable settings is important when starting out; being able to adjust things up or down allows you to find the sweet spot.

have only had the .5 coil in the new subtank that came with my subox and the airflow is excellent - the new coils are redesigned a bit also - vertical instead of horizontal coils - just waiting on the replacement coils to show up in shops/ online now - should be available by end of june, as I understand it - the new rba is an upgrade also, with juice flow/ wicking holes on the sides of the rba barrel (not unlike the rba modifications I did on the current kanger rba's I have)

Tap on the back for being so honest and sincere and for putting effort on having better smoking lifestyle. I will definitely recommend ego one for the both of you for a light smoker, it is easy to handle and maintain, good with the flavors and hit and it is just right in budget. I wanna suggest even lower model than than as you really to start in basics but ego one i think is decent to start with. 10ml e-liquid can last 3 days or 1 week for you depending on the use. So you can get 250Ml to share with your wife. By the way do you have the same taste with your wife in terms of flavors?

I misunderstood, you can totally have your vape in your car while you're driving. I do it all the time. In fact, sometimes it'll be left in the sun for a bit (in my cupholder or something), and I'll be like "oops it's kinda hot from the sun" and just throw it in a shadier spot (glovebox or elsewhere). All good, no harm done. If the car is comfortable enough for you to be in it, it's comfortable enough for your batteries to be in it. Leaving it in the car for extended periods when you're not around/the AC isn't on/windows rolled up might not be advisable, as cars get pretty hot (pretty quick) if it's hot outside.

I'd say "think of it like a baby" but there have been a lot of stories recently of mothers leaving their children in hot cars, so ehhhh.

my wife is a lighter smoker/ vaper and absolutely loves her ego one - very user friendly, very versatile, and a good build - also, they recently released a coil that is rebuildable for it...

my inner nerd is a bit more complicated, lol...

that's a good start; once she has something she's happy with and goes for 3 months, the major hurdle is past.

It's your car, you can do whatever you please, but vapor is nothing like smoke. Think air freshener vs campfire.

Wow thank you for all the quick replies. It's given me a lot to think about.

First off I live in Minnesota.

A fellow gopher, so I can give some local (if you're living in the Cities) advice.

I decided to quit smoking in April. I looked at gear online and got thoroughly confused. So I decided to buy stuff from a real local vape shop. I checked out Yelp review (yeah, I know, Yelp--take it with a grain of salt) and went to Smokeless Smoking in Nordeast. They set me up with an iStick 30, a Nautilus, and a bottle of Nick's Blissful Brews Smoked Custard. I ended up paying more than I would have by ordering online, but I got immediate satisfaction instead of waiting for stuff to be shipped and instructions for how to do things like fill the tank (trickier than it looks at first) and prime the coils.

I've added a couple of tanks, but still just use the iStick. A charge lasts about a day. The Nautilus is still my main tank, but I play around with some others.

I've been to a couple of vape shops to try things out or pick up some small bottles of juice to try different flavors, but I like Smokeless Smoking the best, even though it is probably the most expensive. I like that it does not give off the head shop vibe that a lot of places have. I'm 50, and my days of thinking psychedelic black light posters and carved onyx pipes are cool are behind me.

So I'd recommend a trip to a local vape shop--SS is my favorite--and be prepared to spend 20-30 more than you would ordering online for your first rig. After you have been doing it for a while, you can quickly move up to the fun(?) (yeah, it IS fun!) of ordering no-name clones from Fasttech and big bottles of cheap juice online.

I am relatively new with vaping as well and started with an istick 20w and nautilus mini. I recently switched to the istick 30w and put the Atlantis on it. 0.5ohm capability 20-30w. I'm very satisfied with this setup.

While I have no personal experience with a "vaping partner", your situation may offer an interesting possibility. Sounds like you are ready to jump in while hoping your wife will make the switch. If so, you might consider a simple set-up for her and something a bit more advanced for yourself. That way, both you and she can try the different systems and see what works best for both of you. If it works for both of you, you will both have a better idea of what works for you and what you will want/need for backup purchases. And even if neither of you like one of your first purchases, it will still work nicely for an additional backup.

And by all means, check out the vape shop and test those juices. Juice you don't like is not going to satisfy you whatever you put it in. And I would also suggest buying a few flavors you think you like in small bottles to thoroughly test at home at your chosen nic levels. There were times I thought I liked a juice when tasting it a 0 nic (which most of our shops taste at), but not so much with nic added. Then when you find the one(s) you like, stop back and get the bigger, more expensive bottle.

Welcome and good luck.
