You need something to get yer juice to the coil. My dripper is coming next week in the post. Cant wait to build my first coils. I plan to use organic cotton for wick as Ive heard good things.
Its so much fun! just make sure to use a ohm reader and make sure your battery can handle your buils! vape safe and have fun! and cotton is so amazing!

Dude Just go for a dripper they are generally pretty cheap and lead to hours of fun! You can start out with basic builds just make sureyour building safe and have a solid understanding of ohms before you get started! After a while youll be expirementing with tons of crazy builds like agro coils, nano dragons, twisted 28 microils etc,etc etc just pick up like an igo w and see if you like it

Yes yes, all the fan fair. But OP, if you get into building your own coils please don't be a noob about it. It is really pretty important (since it hasn't been mentioned) that you understand the safety aspect of what you're about to get into. When you build a coil, it will measure out to a certain resistance (ohms).

If you build it to a low resistance, please be sure that your battery can withstand the amp draw you will be imposing as opposed to arbitrarily twisting wire. If you exceed your battery amp limitation you ARE risking thermal run away. This is when your battery becomes unstable. If this happens, your battery can become unstable and vent chemicals, catch fire, or explode.

What you need to know in short hand is that voltage/resistance = amps. If you exceed the amp rating of your battery.... thermal run away can occur. Please don't get yourself (or others) hurt. If this sounds crazy just pm me and I'll help you out gladly.

you can never have no wick as the wick is what delivers the juice to the coil. im guessing the taste youre describing is a slightly burnt or dry taste which is typically characteristic of a burning out or dry silica wick. Dripper set ups give you a better diversity on what material you can use and build to your liking. Prepared organic cotton is ttpically best for flavor but will burn/melt if you let it go dry. Most drug stores dont carry them but I had a luck at a Organic Market/Store (I refer to them as hippy grocery stores lol). About 3.99 will net you 80 organic cotton balls. Im guessing there are many threads already which can gukde you through various builds but most importantly, do your homework on battery safety first and most drippers prefer sub ohm builds which require a mechanical mod with no battery protection that an APV offers.

Note to one of the above posts. Build at a final 1.5ohms for a ego or newbie on a mech. That means if you are using a dual coil setup you need to build each at three ohms since it will be halved in a dual configuration. That being said I popped a coil and am running 3ohms on an MVP at 9.5 watts the one remaining coil and the results are still good. Good enough that I am leaving it this way for a while.

The first dripper that I liked looked like this inside. It was as good as it got circa 2011.

Note tht there is a small silica wick in the coil, but there is also SS mesh around the coil cup and under the cup to hold liquid in the atomizer.

The dripper that I use now looks like this inside.

Note that the silica wick passes through the coil, and also extends down into the cup to wick liquid to the coil.

One way or another there has to be a wick.
