Newbie eGo-C Question

Hello all!

I'm a complete newbie, but after spending a few days reading through this forum I took the plunge and ordered an eGo-C kit with additional spare parts and lots of different juices (sampler packs). I've watched several YouTube videos and I think I understand how to set the system up and get rolling (I haven't received it yet). My question:

Let's say that I load up a tank with juice, vape it a bit, and then decide to try a different kind of juice. I'd swap out the atty for a fresh one, fill and insert a new tank, but... what can I do with the still-almost-full initial tank? Or in other words, is there a way to store it without the juice leaking out of it for reuse later?

I know that there is a mouth piece on one end and the other end would have a cap with a hole poked through it by the atty's barb. Could I just stand it up in a pill bottle with the mouth piece down? Or would I need to replace the cap with a new one that didn't have a hole? Something else?

There is absolutely no need to change the atty everytime you change flavours, it is actually one of the + points of the Ego C, you just change the tank.

but... what can I do with the still-almost-full initial tank? Or in other words, is there a way to store it without the juice leaking out of it for reuse later?

The tanks come with a little rubber end caps which you can use to retain the fluid, in fact I've been known to fill 3 of 4 tanks pop end caps on the them and take those out an about with me when I go rather than additional bottles of juice; I hope that helps

My procedure is the same as TaraMc: don't swap tanks when changing favors + I take some tanks with me instead of bottles.

Also, the tanks that come with your kits have "another" cap that can placed on the tank and initial cap.

For me tho, I use a non-poked cap to store the half-finished tank.

Thanks, that's exactly the info I was looking for. My next question was going to be 'can you fill many tanks and take them with you?' and you folks covered that too!

For the atty, I thought that if you were using a strong flavor (ex: menthol) it might retain some of that flavor and interfere with the new flavor you were changing to. I bought plenty of spares and was going to dedicate different attys to different flavor types but I guess that isn't necessary?

One more question about the atty: People on the forum talk about first blowing out the protective liquid that they come packed with before using. In the intro videos I watched about the eGo-C, they aren't doing this. Is this another difference (improvement?) between the eGo-C and other PVs - no initial liquid to blow out?

The Ego C is still really a relatively new device, its only really been on the market (the Joye Version anyway) for a couple of months, a lot of information being given about it is based on what people have learnt about it's older brother the Ego T.

The T did indeed hold onto flavours like a miser to a £5 note, if you vaped menthol, then unless you were prepared to boil it you were pretty much stuck with using menthol in that atomiser (or anything that tastes good with menthol, banana, strawberry & cherry all spring to mind), so it really wasn't uncommon to have designated atomisers for different flavour type, tobacco, mints, fruits, coffees etc.

But the design of the C atomiser is different, it doesn't have the wire mesh wrapped around it that the T does so it doesn't hang onto flavours in the same way, normally within a couple of draws the flavour is clean. That doesn't mean you "can't" have a designated atty for each flavour group, you just don't "have" to.

This lack of mesh is also the reason why on the videos you aren't seeing people blowing through the atomisers first, the atomisers are packaged primed with what is supposed to be PG according to the manufacturers to help stop oxidisation, personally I think it's snake oil or maybe the secretions from somewhere unmentionable of an overweight chinese man who sits in the factory, but what ever it is, the stuff is rancid and the mesh of the T used to hang onto it making the first tank or two diabolical unless you blew it through from the battery end first. The C is so tiny (and so very new - so perhaps the rancid is the result of sitting on shelves with the fluid going off) that this really isn't a problem, wipe it down, pop it in and off you go.

In my opinion the C can be very temperamental and not at all suited to all vaping types and I think Joye have a long way to go regarding batch reliability, but some people adore it, and I have to say, when it works it works fantastically. I've spent quite some time trying to get the technique right - as I am sure many others on here have too, so if you need any help when you get it, just shout up

Smokeanywhereforpennys.com tutorial shows a dry burn a few times to burn off the primer, then a drop or two of juice then fire a few times. That's for new attys.

These tanks seem cool for the reasons above, just carry around some filled tanks and change when you feel the urge.

Thanks Tara, that was great info! Being new I didn't realize the design differences between this model and the prior ones, so what I saw in the videos now makes sense. I'll at least wipe down the atty as you suggest. OK, maybe I'll blow on it too, but just for good luck. ;-)

Thanks, I'm off to Smokeanywhereforpennys.com to learn more about their prepping technique. Wiping, blowing AND dry burning probably can't hurt anything so it all sounds good to me. I'm probably over-thinking and over-worrying about all of this, but I don't want to mess up due to newbie-ness and start out with a bad experience.

I will make one recommendation, based on experience with the eGo-T (note, I don't have the C-type, but the tanks themselves are the same): buy extra silicone caps. Most of the Joyetech tank caps are hard plastic and are a pain in the .... to remove, plus once the hole's popped in them, they do leak unless you put the rubber end-stopper overtop of the tank cap. The silicone ones are easier to put on/take off, fit snugly, are inexpensive (most places sell 'em for about 20 cents each or less), and when the end-cap starts to wear down after repeated refilling and starts to develop really bad leaking habits (which can occur), you can just replace it.

I've heard that the C atomizers are also much better about clearing prior flavors, but one thing I do recommend is that you consider having separate atomizers for menthol than for other flavors. Similarly, if you pick up juices which have essential oils in them (there are a few vendors who sell these -- Mrs. T's Bakery's "Lemon-Honey Eucalyptus Cough Drop" flavor, for instance, has a bit of eucalyptus oil in it), you really want to devote an atomizer to it. Also, darker juices have a tendency to gunk up attys and have lingering flavors... I don't know if this is as true for the C-type as it is for my T-type atomizers, but ye gads, one use of a dark-colored coffee juice in one of my attys and it is now only good for either cinnamon or coffee flavors.

I just got mine in the mail, prepped and set it up using the technique in the Smokeanywhereforpennys.com video that ckone180 pointed me to, and everything seems to be working fine. These tanks have the hole already punched in them so maybe that helps prevent the leaking problems from the older models(?). I don't see any obvious signs of leaking, but I guess I won't really know until I need to yank the tank out and refill it. The only thing that was at all wrong is that on about vape #5 I got nothing. I had read about the quick/hard primer puffs (with switch off), did that, and it was back to normal. I guess I need to do that occasionally.

This is the first time I've vaped anything and the taste isn't bad. I'm using a 50/50, 24 mg menthol juice ("Cool") from UnSmoke.US. The vapor seems a bit more harsh and biting on the throat than from an analog (not as smooth), and the taste is a bit more subdued with that odd sweetness to it. I'm not getting thick clouds of vapor like some people show in pictures or video. I'm only about 1/5 tank into this and need to play around with it a lot more, but maybe next time around I'll go for more VG in the mix to increase vapor and decrease TH a bit if the other flavors I bought give similar results.

Here are my thoughts on the ego-c after 6 weeks of daily use.. Keep in mind this is my first real device after a crappy POS with prefilled carts.
Buy some LR cartomizers .. I just feel like the flavors are more pronounced with carts.. They burn hotter and I am more fulfilled with taste and smoke..
I had an issue with the tanks keeping the flavors once empty and filled with something else(I always get bored and swap out constantly).. Even after running them in warm water it was still noticeable so now just boil water and put all my "used" tanks with caps and tips in a bowl for a few minutes and let air dry..
The tanks really don't leak much without the little caps on them unless your purposely shaking them.. With caps not at all..
