Greetings folks, i've been lurking for a few weeks, and thanks to you lot i've purchased my first e-cig. I went with the Ego-t kit from unsmoke, great customer service, emails were responded to within a couple of hours and the kit shipped fast. I've watched the vids, read (skimmed) the 200 page thread about them. Got everything charged up last night, and put in my first tank this morning. I had some initial issues with a nasty burning wick taste, but i think i figured out the issue...seems the needle wasn't actually piercing the tank, had to hit it with a blunt stir stick from my desktop vape. Everything seems to be working alright now, no more burning taste, good vape production. I guess i don't really have an issue so much yet, as just wanted to thank you guys for all the helpful information. I've already taken out the inserts, and i'm already planning on grabbing a low res atty on my next order. Anything else i should know, or tips from those of you who've been using this model for awhile?

Had tank system for about 2 months now.

tips:
-Always wipe your battery threads good before plugging it in to charge.
-Sometimes the battery post and atty dont make a connection, use a sharp tipped/pointed tool/knife/paperclip/nail to raise the battery post or lower the atty(stick it in the hole and wiggle...boy does that sound bad...) connection for better connection.
-Always have spare atty's/batteries/chargers as they can go anytime and then your screwed.
-Lighter colored juices will extend the life and maintenance of the atty.
-Don't shake the battery as the wires inside can become undone.
-pop out the cartridge from time to time to release the airlock(helps wicking), also give the outside of the cartridge a wipe so the moisture doesn't build up and enter the mouthpiece.
-100%VG is hard to wick, dilute it a bit with PG/distilled water/alcohol. i prefer 20/80 PG/VG or 50/50 PG/VG.
-clean when flavor and vapor is diminished (every 1-2 weeks for me)(hot water rinse and soak, dry for 12 hours, quick careful dry burn, this is what works for me).
-prepuncture carts before first use to prevent what you've already experienced.
-remove both pieces in cartridge for better draw and wicking(personal preference)

I found same problem with the riva tank, so i drip 2-3 drops directly onto the atty wick before putting carts on and it works a treat:p

the ego-t has kept me smoke free for 2 months now. i started with a silver bullet (didnt know about the 510-T at the time) but the constant dripping and carrying bottles led me to pick up a cigarette after only 2 weeks. the tank makes it easy since it is so simple.

a lot of my friends have purchased the ego-t and the only ones that complain about it not hitting right all the time are the ones who try to gradually quit by smoking and vaping. to me it seems like they are just looking for an excuse to pick up a cigarette. everytime they complain it isnt hitting right, i try it and it works perfectly fine. all i do for maintenance on mine is every few days, disconnect atty from battery and blow from the wick side into a paper towel. you will see all the built up juice come pouring out (can be kinda gross at times). keep doing that until no more juice comes out the roll up a small section of the towel and clean around the threads and get all the juice out. do the same thing to clean the battery and those threads. you know it works because your first few hits will taste like atomizer until the wick absorbs the juice again. i have not had any problems with my ego-t and a standard 900mah battery will get you through a whole day of vaping.

i usually keep a 3ml bottle with me to refill my tank since keeping an extra prefilled tank tends to result in pocket leaks. my ego-t has completely replaced my need for an analog cigarette. i also purchased a few low resistance attys and they make the vaping experience even more enjoyable.

Sounds like i'll definitly have to go for the low res attys. I'm glad i didn't have to screw with adjusting the wick for either of these, i read about the procedure, but haven't found any pictures, and i probably would have screwed it up. I'm using a ten pack of 3 ml samplers so far, 50/50 mix. Tanks seem to be lasting pretty well, i filled up 2 of them, just in the course of trying different flavors, and i've been going all day..i doubt either's more than half empty. So that's encouraging. The number of mixes is a little intimidating to be honest, without even getting into pg/vg variances, i mean it seems like there are hundreds and hundreds of venders and thousands of flavors. I want to pick up a big enough supply to last me awhile, but i'll be trying different sample packs for weeks. i've got 2 batteries, one charger, and 2 attys from the kit. what should i pick up backups for, how many should i grab, and how often do things break down?

its all made in china.
and the quality control is ....ty.
i find each atty is different, as to the draw, how fast the coil heats up, etc etc.
I still am using my original atty but have had others only last a couple of weeks. Its hit an miss.
I would definatly recommend a 900 or 1300 mAh battery to go with the two 650 mAh's.
As for spare chargers, one should do, not overly required as i havent heard of one dying yet but it would suck if it did.
I like to have at least 2 spare new attys at any given time.

Its all about how often its used, type of juice used, cleaning method, and plain luck as to how long certain parts will last, i for one will always be prepared as I cannot fathom not having a working ecig and being stuck in a bind so i have plenty of spare parts.

i'm noticing the batteries are a little weird...they have to be not quite screwed in all the way, and at just the right angle to charge, i think i'll take your advice about hitting them both with some iso on the threads. Is there an easy way to tell what generation a unit is? the thing came without instructions or anything, and i'm not seeing it marked anywhere on the device. I think i've read that there's at least 3 generations of the tank floating around. oooh..and i jsut found some 2ml tanks and mega cone atomizers over on totally wicked that should fit as well. That's even sexier. i bet i could run all day with a 2ml tank.

i believe revision2/type-b should have a pointed/slanted tip on the needle and the tanks have a thicker silicon plug, opposed to just a thin cap.
there might be a few other minor differences but these are the ones that made the difference imo.

sounds like the threads cut on the batteries weren't machined true(@ 90 degrees)
