Hi!

I'm an ex-smoker of 14 years but have been using Nicorette gum for almost as long. So, I was at the mall a few weeks ago and came across Smoke51 e-cigs and got the TRIO starter kit. Wish I had done my research and found this forum first!

Anyway, I had issues with the batteries and had to take them back for replacements. Second set worked better but I'm still disappointed they don't hold a charge for at least a day like the guy told me and I'm constantly charging and interchanging them throughout the day. In addition, I've had quite a few duds for cartridges (at least 1 per box produces little to no vapor) and that upsets me too. A 'normal' cartridge definitely doesn't last 200 drags like I was told either! (I thought this would be a more economical alternative to the gum.) In retrospect, I think I made a rash purchase and am already starting to regret it. :(

So, making the best with what I have, I have a few questions before I go head-long into the archives. I assume that I can reuse the Smoke51 cartridges and fill them with my own e-liquid, right? I'm looking into the Totally Wicked High Tobacco but I welcome feedback and suggestions for other options.

Also, looking at the Totally Wicked website, their white cartridges (and package even), look identical to the cartridges for the Smoke51 cartridges I have, but on their site they say their cartridges might not work with other vendors' models. I've saved up quite a few Smoke51 cartridges, but I'm just curious if Totally Wicked's white cartridges might in fact fit on Smoke51's. Anyone know?

Oh, one more question! Smoke51 doesn't even have replacement atomizers on their website (not to mention TRIO batteries!). Is Totally Wicked's Super E. Cig-Atomizer or anyone else's atomizer compatible with Smoke51? Good grief, maybe I should just cut my losses and start fresh with the 510!

Glad to be here and thanks for helping!

Hey MyCelia,

Don't feel too bad for falling for it, many of us do. Good thing is: it got you here and these e-cigs seem to actually help a lot of people quit when nothing else worked.

I don't know which model the Smoke51 TRIO is, so I can't say what will and what will not work with it. You definitely can use e-liquid to refill your carts (cartridges) if you can access them easily that is - some models you cannot. If you can see down in the cartridge and would be able to pull out the 'filler' material that holds the liquid, then you can refill them.

Totallywicked has many, many fans on this forum who swear by their liquids. I haven't even gotten my e-cig in yet so everything I'm telling you is research based and not my own experiences, but there are numerous posts about the quality and taste of their juices.

On all the parts and equipment, without knowing the model ... *shrug*

If you can make do with what you have and just use liquids, that is what I would do. If the e-cig you have makes good amounts of vapor and gives a good 'throat-hit', then I wouldn't think you would need to replace it with a new model. However, if you can't find what model that TRIO is ...

Good luck and sorry I wasn't much help,

Eli

I think it might be easier with a 510! ;) Anyway, I'm guessing you found that in the kiosk at Fair Oaks or Dulles Town Center?

Anyway, you can reuse your carts by topping off with your newfound flavor...make sure to clean them every 4-5 uses and check out the mod thread for replacing cart filler.

Sorry my response is so vague as I have no experience with your model of e-cig but I have seen them in Dulles Town Center but didn't take a closer look past the HIGH price compared to my 510.

My myCelia,

I'm not familiar with the exact model you purchased but I looked them up and they are WAY overpriced. I started with a similar model and had very poor results. I ended up tossing it and writing off the $150.00 or so that I spent on the starter kit and extra parts and called it a lesson learned.

My second e-cig was much easier to deal with - the Joye 510. I'd recommend buying that starter kit. I think Widow's Beadworks has them in stock and even though I've not dealt with that company they get good reviews here.

Make sure you only buy a product with a MANUAL battery - the automatics do not perform well. I'd get the starter kit plus two extra batteries and two extra atomizers. Also buy some liquid so you can refill the cartridges. I have liquid from e-smokeytreats.com, johnsoncreeksmokejuice.com and puresmoker.com. I'd recommend any of those.

With all that being said I've moved on to The Prodigy from puresmoker.com and the 510 is my backup but that's just me as I'm a gadgety kind of guy.

Good luck and welcome to the forum from a neighbor just to your north.

Thanks, Eli! I wish I could be more specific about the parts too. I even looked through my manual and it's simply referred to as the Fifty-One TRIO, with no part #'s for any of its components. It's their three-part unit, as opposed to their DUO model. I can't post links yet until I reach 15 posts, but a picture of the TRIO's parts are on their FAQ page if you want to take a gander.

*sigh*, yeah Jonesin, close. I got it from Tyson's Corner. Ugh, the thought of going back to that greaseball for extra atomizers is not something I look forward to. That 510 is looking better by the minute. Thanks for your advice!

starbkjrus,

You're SO right on that. Definitely overpriced! I feel like such an idiot, d'oh!

Anyhoo, thanks for your sharing your recommendations, neighbor.

    Somewhere between here and there
If it were me, I would cut my losses and order a joye510. I think rockymountainvapor has them for about $46 or nhaler was selling them for about the same price. Nhaler charges freight but the customer service is awesome. You also get a couple extras with nhaler kit. I have bought from both and the customer service was great. No matter who you buy from, make sure to get the manual batteries. It will save alot of headaches.

    MyCelia,

Sorry, but I couldn't recognize the model. I'm a neophyte in regards to all of this and am actually a step behind you ... I haven't even received my first e-cig yet.

You will find that the majority of users on this forum are super knowledgeable and super helpful ... maybe one of them will be able to match your model.

It seems you are being advised to get a new model and cut your loses by most everyone, but being in the financial situation that I am ... I just can't bring myself to agree. I would try and deal with the one I already had by matching models and seeing if I could get replacement parts. In the meantime, I would grab some e-juice and see if that doesn't improve the vaping experience.

I'm just trying to save you from having to spend another $100-$150 ... but eventually, I think you will probably want to anyways.

Arrgh. I don't know. Maybe it would be best to just get the 510 and start fresh. It just seems like doing so would make a bad deal (the treo) a complete waste (other than a learning experience).

Whatever you decide, definetely get some nic juice and just refill the carts rather than buying pre-filled ones. It is the only way to make them trully economical, from what I've read.

Good luck and hope to see you around the forums,

    Eli

OMG, I have so many tabs open, it's not even funny! OK, so I guess I'll have to see kiosk dude one more time to get enough cartridges to hold me over until my order from Dawn at ecigsmokestore.com arrives (hoping Monday or Tuesday). I got an assortment of flavors but I'm really looking forward to trying the Thin Mints - that just looks too yummy to pass up and she was super nice!

Ugh, now I'm considering the M401, even though it is automatic. It just looks sleek and more analog'ish and I'm reading good reviews of it. Why do I get the feeling that I'm on the road to building a collection of PV's? lol!

As for the 510, *sigh* now I'm even more confused. I think I understand the advantage of manual batteries, but now, do I want the 'old style' version of the 510 or the 'new and improved' version? I haven't had time to read through that long thread on the pro's and con's of the 510's new style atomizer but a lot of folks aren't liking it from what I've skimmed through, so I might eventually get the 510 after the dust settles.

Thanks for the link to Rocky Mountain Vapor, hittman. If I am going to break down and get another PV soon, it'll be from there. Free shipping and their prices are great!

Oh, and from that pics thread, 42109 (thanks!), my Smoke51 TRIO looks a lot like the KR808 and the RN4081 models so I'll look into those for compatibility of blank cartridges for my TRIO.

I got an e-cig like yours before doing my homework. Not the 51 but similar. Then I got 2 510's for the wife and I. Got some juice and a couple pcc's. We are very happy and both haven't touched any tobacco since. Keep your 51 as a backup and get a 510 with a pcc(personal charging case). I got lucky and my auto batteries work on the 510 so when I feel like using the auto I can.
