I have been using the stardust for about three months. and i hate it. i have a sack of at least 25 that all burnt out in 1-2 days. anyways, i have been recommended to try the vivi nova. however, i just got online and see that it is rebuildable..and there are so many terms used on how to use it that i just dont know about vaping yet! i am just trying to figure out what i need in order to use the vivi nova. and if/when it does burn out, what replacement parts will i need to then rebuild it? i am going to purchase everything i need to be set for a little while instead of having to keep ordering new parts and have the possibility of being without what i need in time! any assistance would be more than appreciated =)

This is a knock-off Vivi Nova (not an authentic Vision), but the picture more closely shows the components. The wicks draw the liquid in the tank up to the replaceable heating element (head) at the top. The wicks come in various lengths and the heads in different resistances. Sometimes called a “tank”, Vivi Novas operate like a clearomizer (“Clearo”)

You just buy new heads in the resistance that you want and screw them in place. Some people prefer to rewick them, but some people also like to change the oil in their car themselves. ;)

the good news about the vivi is it comes with 3 different heads of different resistance. this means you can try out all 3 and find out what works best for you and order heads that suit your needs. i believe they come in 1.8, 2.4, and 2.8 ohms. i personally prefer the 2.8, it creates cooler vapor, drans my battery slower, and seems to go through juice slower (the vivi is ont thirsty little tank)

unrelated: your low ohm attys burning out wuickly may or may not have something to do with you running too much power through them. what volts/watts do you run them at and what are you considering low resistance?

i honestly have no idea what amount of volts it is. i have the ego c upgrade with the two different powers. i always use the lower power, not sure what it is though. and when i bought the stardusts from my local vape shop, they just have a bin of them that say "normal resistance" and a bin that says "low resistance." i am extremely unaware of pretty much any of the technicalities. I need to start learning these things so i know what i am using, and also what works with what i have!!

sorry about this assumption if it is wrong, but it sounds like your local store is terrible. the store i go to broke down everything i needed to know about resistance, volts, watts, and amps before i made a purchase. also, they have it very clear what resistance you are buying and tell you what power is the best to throw at it. i suggest you go down to your shop and ask them a) what resistance are you buying and b) how much power is your device throwing out. also, the only thing you need to know in order to know what works with your device is threading. that way you dont make the mistake i did and purchase some 808 tanks that wont go on my 510 devices :(

Get the 2.4 Ω coils for your eGo upgrade. Your battery can be run in a regulated mode (3.3Ω) or unregulated (starts at 4.2v, quickly goes down to 3.7v--and stays there for most of the time, until it drops off to 3.3 or 3.2v, at which point it needs to be recharged again.

what is a normal resistance? i used low resistance attys and they burnt way too quickly. i don't want anything low again. do you know what a regular resistance would be? thanks btw for your help!!

Usually, with cartomizers, LR is 2.2Ω, standard--3.0Ω. Clearomizers offer more choices. Stick with the middle range, at least at the beginning. It's all about wattage, heat, that your PV generates. Most people find their sweet spot somewhere between 4.5-8.5 Watts.

When in doubt, use this Ohm's law calculator:

Online Conversion - Ohm's Law Calculator

Plug in the numbers (the resistance of your atomizer--in Ohms; and the voltage of your battery--in Volts).

I don't like Stardust either.

Don't even think about rebuilding anything ATM. ViVi Novas are not RBAs (rebuildable atomizers). They CAN be rebuilt, though, but I really don't understand why anyone would bother. New coils are inexpensive and they last a long time.

Katya beat me to it (I was looking for where I already posted about my eGo-C Upgrade), but I'm going to post the info anyway:

The Upgrade is "variable voltage", as in the voltage varies - you just can't set it.

The battery has 2 modes: Unregulated (the button is yellow) and Regulated (the button is white/blue).

In the unregulated mode (Joyetech calls it "Battery Voltage" mode), the battery comes off the charger at around 4.2v. and will fire at that output. The voltage then goes down as the battery discharges.

In the regulated mode, the battery fires constantly at 3.3v. I think it's pretty much a gimmick, or concept over function fail. The point of VV is to be able to adjust the volts to where you want them to be. This battery does not do that.

To make the voltage even less operator variable, in the regulated mode the button is white when fully charged, then turns darkening shades of blue as it discharges. In the unregulated mode the button stays yellow. If one is vaping in the unregulated mode, there is no way to tell what voltage you are (roughly) at without switching to the regulated mode and trying to guess if the button is cobalt or cornflower. I just use mine in the regulated mode like a standard eGo.

To switch modes, click the button 5 times to turn it off. Hold the button down until it turns white/blue or yellow, whichever is different from the last mode you were in and it will blink 3x in that color. Click it 5 more time to turn it back on.

Ooops... Sorry Kitty... Thought you went away.

Anyway, your description is much better than mine. :)

This sounds so girly, which I'm not, but my nails are too long to type tonight. I'm going to cut them, but I can't find an emery board.

ETA: And my description is only good because I paid $30.00 for the dang thing (it was the only 1000mAh the B&M had) and I had to figure out how to use it by myself - they didn't know.

Just part of the learning curve.... now you know why I've only been to our B&M three times, although I'm really considering visiting them and walking around with my ProThingy and Protank and tsk-tsking to my friend about their dismal inventory...

You should manage the store for them. I'm not kidding.

How can you be selling a battery and not know how it works. All Chinese wholesalers offer detailed information/specs on their websites.

These are the same people that told me I couldn't sample their juices because it's "a health issue." I had my own atty and drip tip...
