Before our trip to Vegas, my girlfriend said she wanted to quit smoking after we get back. When I hear those words "quit" I get nervous and want nothing to do with it. Been smoking 1.5 packs for over 10 years. After we smoked our brains out in Vegas, my girlfriend stayed committed and said she was going to quit. She wasn't forcing me to join too, but I knew it would be awkward to smoke around someone trying to quit, but I was prepared to do it anyways. After her first day of trying cold turkey, she brought home a vape pen. I tried it out and right away I felt like I could use this to quit. It cut my cravings and made me feel like I was still smoking. This weekend I smoked less cigarettes then I did in a decade. What I still struggle with is after eating, coffee, and most of all alcohol. During Sunday football I'm so used to kicking back a few beers. I tried using the vape pen while drinking but it didn't satisfy me. I only smoked 3 cigarettes during my beer time and all day yesterday so I was quite proud of myself. I'm using mountain dew voltage juice right now. I heard if you got a nasty tobacco it could help curb cravings while drinking. This morning I order desert ship from smoktek hoping this would fit the bill. Today is Monday, have zero cigarettes left, just brought my vape pen to work. Really weird not having my friendly pack of cigarettes and lighter in my pocket. I can't vape in my office, so I'm quite worried of cravings in between breaks. I brought some nicorete gum just in case I'm freaking out. I really hope this journey with e cigarettes finally breaks the habit of smoking.

I know it's a scary thing to finally quit, but what many here found out that they enjoy vaping so much they actually forget to smoke! Take it one day at a time. I started vaping to cut down on cigarettes, but was using Blu's and Njoy cigalikes. Finally ordered my first kit and it worked so well that I haven't had a cigarette since, and that was over 8 months ago. Kudos to your girlfriend for taking the step to quit, and to you for joining her. Good luck! I know you can do it. :)

Oh, and welcome to the forum! We're all happy you decided to join us[emoji106]

It was funny the first night we got our first pen we were messing with it and we thought we had broke it. Didn't want to break it further before going to the vape store. So we went to the gas station and got njoy and Mark 10 ecigs. I thought the njoy was awful but girl friend liked it. I liked the Mark 10 and she didn't lol. But we both agreed we did not like the tobacco taste of those ecigs and it didn't give that oomph a pen gives. So we have just been vaping fruity juices but I hope this desert ship juice I bought fills the bill for when I wanna drink or after coffee.

BTW our pen wasn't broken at all just struggled figured out all the pieces

Congrats & Welcome !!! I started with a little ego 650 mah battery & a 1.5 ml aspire tank with 24 mg Brutal Juice. It took a few days to get completely off of the analogs but it worked !!! After a couple weeks the Brutal Juice got intolerable & the "Shinnitus" took over. LOL I still have a little 24 mg juice, after 4 1/2 mths of vaping but it's on it's way out. Going to 12 mg. It's a progression. Get some strong juice. Don't buy large bottles yet. Your taste for it will change & so will your need for high nic levels. I've still got the little ego & Aspire, I've given a dozen or so combos away & have a dozen or so more.

Hi, My Husband is on the same journey. He has gradually cut down on cigarettes (actually he has been reduced to smoking little cigars because of the price). Tried e-cigs several times but never had a good unit, until now. He got a Tesla and an Aspire Nautilus. Since then he has gone from 10 cigs a day to 6 to yesterdays new low of 3. He had to move where he keeps the pack so he doesn't 'accidentally' smoke. Never realized how easy it was to do that.

I am curious about what you said, "I can't vape in my office, so I'm quite worried of cravings in between breaks." How did you handle it when you smoked cigarettes? Putting a BIG GRIN here, 'cause I am just playing with ya. Keep up the good effort it will pay off.

Kind regards,

Hey,

I used to smoke 1,5 pack a day, and sometimes even more.

I'm only vaping for about 3 weeks, but i can tell you, since i started i never had the need to smoke a analogue again. I used to smoke Marlboro, and the juice that got me away from analogues was RY4.

RY4 is still my fav juice, but as the time pass i want more, lol. Right now i'm on a quest to find a great juice with a reasonable price. Think i will try some desert and fruit likes.

For me, the habitual moments didn't happen overnight. I just vaped at those moments and they have drifted away. I, also, got a bottle that was a bit stronger than what I needed so that I got that nicotine "smack". For staying away from cigs, I had spares. I am generally near my car, so a complete system with a bottle of juice went there. I never had a need to stop for a cigarette.

I do believe that if I tried a cig now, I would vomit. My signature says it all.

I agree that finding the right juice is the hardest part! Bootleg vapors is the site I have ordered a ton of juice from lately. Great prices and the flavors/ options are awesome. Keep it up, it gets easier and eventually analogs will not be appealing to you in any way or form.

I am just over a month in my vaping journey and almost 3 weeks totally Analog free. It has been a great journey.

I feel that vaping doesn't hold me over like cigarettes do. I'm vaping more than I smoked so am worried of cravings more than when I had cigarettes. I've already had a nicorette gum peice but I probably didn't need it. I think a lot of it is physiological and not really a craving. I can do this!! Maybe I'll bump up from 18mg to the next higher if I continue to have cravings at work.

You can do it! I've been vaping for 3+ weeks. During the first week I cut my analog smoking down by more than half and tapered all the way down to 0. I have 1/2+pack of analogs left in the console of my car. I wrote the date that I opened the pack with a Sharpie marker. 10/4/14
I had to play around with my vaping setup and gear to get it to a point where I was comfortable. I probably have too many E Liquids but that's what keeps it interesting for me. I keep a 2ml topped off with my daily vape flavor which changes almost everyday then I keep two smaller tanks of different flavors in case I get bored or want a change.

Having a tobacco-flavored juice really seems to help when first quitting, at least it did for me. After the first week, it wasn't so important anymore (I'm quit for just over two weeks now, after a 35-year habit). I'm doing 18mg/ml nicotine also, and I don't skimp on the vaping. You might want a 24mg strength for your workday breaks.

Desert Ship is probably a good choice; I went for the slightly lighter-flavored Hangsen-USA instead, to replace my Marlboro Lights. Most juice sellers have an RY4 variant that sweetens up tobacco with caramel and vanilla flavors - pretty satisfying too.

Don't forget to carry a charged battery as a backup. Nothing sucks worse than to run out of juice (or e-juice) when you're trying to quit. Good luck!
