Hey, new girl on the block :)

I have been smoking for 24 years and in the last month have gone down to 10 cigs from 30 a day. Can't seem to get below 10 no matter how hard I try, so I need to switch to an e-cig. I smoke Winston Ultra Light and need something that still has a smoke factor, but will not give me a rush, hate to feel weird like that. I tried my hubby's Fifty-One e-cig with a 12 mg cart and took 3 light drags and man too much of a rush, did not like that plus it did not give off a smoke after inhaling either!

Sooo any suggestions for a nice e-cig, do not be cheap with me, I like Gucci not Wal-Mart.:p Also, looking for one that has very low nic amount since heck if 3 light drags from 12 mg was too much of a rush I am a super light weight. Finally, as funny as this may sound, one with the most natural ingredients since I am all organic and natural besides this terrible smoking habit and would be nice to know that I am finally being as good to my body as humanly possible. Nicotine is my only bad habit, heck I do not even drink, boring boring, I know...

Thanks for any suggestions!

Well, there's such a wide variety of products out there that you have to make a few decisions yourself as to what type of device you want: For instance, do you want a cigarette-replica? Or would you trade the look of a cigarette for a bigger device that as more expensive, much more complicated to use, and looked 10 times nicer? If you're willing to take the time to learn how to use one, there are plenty of APV's out there that are expensive and also offer exclusivity, i.e. there aren't many of them around, they may be hand-made, etc.

Straight-up, though, I would not usually recommend a big APV as a starting point with vaping. One that I *may* recommend are the silver bullet, which is a fairly simple unit, and as I said, they're expensive and offer that exclusivity of having something no one else does (although lots of people on the FORUMS have them ;) ). There are also hand-made units that you actually have to get on a list to own, and the price can go up to, and past $500.

The smaller consumer-grade ecigs are better for beginners, simpler to use, cheaper, and MAY even look nicer to you, as they look like cigarettes or cigars. They also do not have replaceable batteries, and you have to buy new battery ends every time one dies. Check out a few reputable stores for a starter kit if you decide you want a smaller e-cig. litecigusa.net, madvapes.com, goodprophets.com all have decent starter kits.

Organic juice is out there. I forget who makes it...someone should post a link soon, though ;)

Forgot to mention, the new standard in APV's among pros is the provari, at provape.com. It is NOT really good for beginners, has way too many settings, and might ruin your experience...unless you put a ton of time into learning it AND you have someone on your end experienced with one (or a similar VV mod).

The old standard in APV's is the GG, and getting one is very difficult- they are hand made by a guy in greece, and you need to get on a list when the next one comes out to get it- cloudsofvapor.com has more info, but I've never really looked into getting one. They're like the rolls-royce of PV's. Try the classifieds...you might get lucky enough to find one there.

+1 for the provari. Look into the provape site and take your time reading all the reviews and tutorials. Its really not that hard to get used to. Its a all in one device and you are never going to want something better or anything. I know I havent. You can use so many different attys/cartomizers/tanks etc. Its very versatile and they even have them in pink for the ladies. You can also get an extended warranty as well.

Thanks for all the tips and such a fast reply! I def do not want some big clunky thing as I am really tiny, only 5'2 :) I would look crazy dragging on some big apparatus lol

I would def prefer a pretty & girly look that will match more my personality of dainty, but yet elegant as cigs are not elegant anymore to say the least. If I can not let go of this habit at least let it be healthy and pretty rather than stinky, ugly, and bad for my health.

I think the bigger concern is do any of these e-cigs come as low as maybe 2 mg? 4mg? I know the 12 mg I smoked tonight was horrible with that rush after 3 light drags, and made me kinda freaked out with that feeling of smoking my first cig and it did not even have smoke. When I inhaled it felt like air, nothing came out and now I have a lump on the roof of my mouth, hence why I want something more natural and idk what is even in the Fifty-One cartridges. I know that's like sayin idk what is in my cigs either though, but heck if I am gonna do this let me do it right and not just buy some cr*p one that puts me off them from the get-go.

I got an ego t after using the blu cig for awhile. I luv the ego I haven't smoked a cig in 2 Weeks since I got it I was a Marlboro red 2 pack a day smoker but they have endless combinations of flavor and nicotine. using it its fairly straightforward I have the clearomizer and get great taste and vapor. battery lasts almost all day. good luck in whatever you pick

I have also heard good things about smokeless image taking care of newcomers- they're geared towards new users. Although, I have no experience dealing with them.

Smaller form factor ecigs are mostly all consumer grade- there aren't very many exclusive or expensive options out there. The ones you buy from Wal mart are very similar to the ones you'll find online- because they come from the same factories in china.

However...

There is The Vapor Girl: Electronic Cigarette Kits, E Cig Mods, E Cigarette Liquids & More ...this might be the answer you're looking for ;) it comes highly recommended from some styley friends of mine. Another option is the SD keychain- click my profile and look at the one I'm holding in the profile pic. Totally cool little thing.

that site I rec'd for the juice will do super-low nic juice for ya. you just select the low-nic juice as an option.

Ok I'm just an old timer here and a 48 yr smoker but my suggestion is get a kgo kit . If it got me and my friends off them it can work for you. I am into cheap and performance and will recommend a vivi nova no matter how much flak I get for the ease of use and simplicity. Fill it and go. Here is a good video but it still is pertinent. \

1) You can get low mg juice. Even 0 mg if you want it.
2) The organic thing....(paragraph time)

E-juice is chemicals. You can get organic flavoring extracts. But the thing is...it's all chemicals. Nothing "natural" about any of it really. Nic extracted from tobacco. PG = chemical. VG = chemical. Water = chemical. Flavoring = combination of chemicals. Some are "natural" some not. But sugar is "natural"... you can't vape it. Neither can you vape "oils" which are natural. So who knows.

That said...go ahead and look for organic if you want it. Can't confirm any tobacco or tobacco extract is 100% pesticide free that I know of. So....meh. I'm sure a lot of coconuts and other veggies gave up their life to become VG...IDK about any pesticide residue but it should be minimal. Heck...even "organic rice" has arsenic in it these days from all the pesticides in the soil from the 1960's. So....good luck on that.

3) Device: Volt or 808 or 510 e-cigs to start. That's plural. You need several "batteries" to start with. Also try several cartomizers or atomizers to see what you like. You need spares. A spare charger is not bad either. The problem is generally that people get tired of charging batteries all the time. But that's usually a step #2 that some find unnecessary.

Ok, for form and function, I'd say have a look at an ego twist, - variable voltage fountain pen looking, this is a battery, and you'll get different things to attach to it for your juice.

A better looking variable voltage is the innokin itaste, you can see a review here:
A PBusardo Review & Contest - Innokin iTaste - YouTube
(I'm still amazed that noone has commented that since it's square it won't roll off a table!)

These will run between 60-80$ for a kit with a battery or two, a charger, and some cartomizer/clearomizer tanks to get you started.

I frankly can't see recommending any non vv device to someone nowadays, since you can change the characteristics of your vape with the turn of a dial or the click of a button, not by changing hardware. It's money better spent.

These are the low end of variable voltage. Lets say a toyota and acura. There's other vv mods out there, but I can't say too much about them except the 70-120$ chinese mods, are filling in the pricepoint gap between the ego-twist and innokin, and what's regarded by some as the toyota land cruiser of apv's to continue the car analogy, a provari.

A provari, and other tube mods, are much smaller when you actually handle them. So don't be put off by the pictures, get a dowel or tube and make a reproduction to see. .9inches wide x 4inches long, it's not 'big', but it is bigger than a fountain pen. Provari makes a mini version also, thats shorter.
ProVari Mini Variable Voltage Ecig: Best Variable Voltage E Cig Available!

Too many buttons as someone said before? If you can walk and chew gum, you can figure it out.

A Provari is going to run you 210-260$ for a unit, batteries, charger etc. The price of the provari, for what you get, is imho worth it. Head over to the provari forums (apv model specific) and read through some of the threads. Read through some of the threads about other mods that you're having a look at.

There are also mods that are more squareish, that will fit in a purse easily etc. I don't know much about them since I wanted bulletproof foremost.

For what to stick on the end of a ego-twist, itaste or provari, or any pv, I'd recommend having a look at:
GotVapes PHOENiX™ Bottom Coil XL 1.5ml Cartomizer 2.4-2.6ohms [gv-PHOENIX-XL-2.4-510] - $11.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

I havn't used them, but I ordered them after watching some reviews, they seem easy to use and fill, and they won't have such a tank like appearance (keeping it more stylish imho). I've already grown tired of refilling cartomizers that I can't see through...

Once you find a battery to use (ego twist/itaste/provari/some other mod) I'd strongly recommend keeping your kit simple in the begining. Finding a juice you like could take some time. You may end up getting a juice that works for you on your first order.

The key thing I see is to initially get up and vaping with the least hassle. A variable voltage mod, and a simple cartomizer (which they will come with) will get you the nicotine. You adjust taste/throathit with voltage, while you order different juices to try.

You can start looking into top coil, dual coil, rebuildable this and that anytime afterward, at your leisure.

Look at the mix and match Twists on Vapor Girl's site. They are girly-girl and the variable voltage on the Twist is extremely helpful in easily achieving the best vape for a particular juice. All you do is start on a low number and go up until you are happy with the results.

Buy some small bottles or samples of 6 mg and 0 mg nicotine in paired flavor. If the 6 mg is too strong you can dilute it as neeeded with the 0 mg. I know nothing about them but Virgin Vapor a place that I've seen mentioned that has organic juices.

Pick up some Boge cartomizers and a Mini Vivi Nova to see if you prefer one over the other. Their is some sort of ongoing kerfuffle over some issues with a few of the Boge cartomizers. I had no problems with a recent order of 5 packages but ordering from a known reliable supplier that stands behind what they sell would probably be a good idea.

The Provari is not as big as what many people expect but I expect that even the smaller model is larger than what you might prefer. You might want to check out this thread, Show us your girly, pretty, decorated, pink!, for ideas if you prefer something that doesn't look like it belongs in dear hubby's Snap On tool chest.

Thanks for all the tips everyone. I went with hubs today, I ended up with nothing he ended up with the VP lol The Provari, even the mini one, is HUGE and the others are just not me that they had. I took 2 drags off the VP and knew it was not for me, I got weird feelings and same as yesterday just a funny feeling in my throat and like I was on a bad amusement park ride. Yesterday I dragged off the Fifty-One with the cartridge pre-made in it 12mg today off a VG liquid 6mg. Hated the VG, my throat felt like I don't know, coated? Just odd, but the sales guy told me if the VG was bothersome to forget the PG/VG combo because some people are just allergic to the stuff so I don't know. Smoking just s*cks.

Look gang... considering that this is A) the new member's forum and B) that she has said repeatedly that she doesn't want some big honking PV (now at least) give it a rest! Let her go through "the process".

There's tons of people that use the super-mini e-cigs. So let her. She doesn't HAVE to have a Provari or eGo or anything else other than a super-mini.

/rant

Like I said before...get some 808's or some 510's for now. You may stay with em, you may upgrade later.

As for the juice anne474... order some samples and "blank" atomizers carts or, probably better, some cartomizers. Read the above and see what sounds good to you and do some research. If you didn't have an allergic reaction to the VG...some VG is probably OK for you...but only you can tell. Many start out with a 80% PG, 20% VG and adjust from there. That will help you order samples. The rest...is nic level and flavorings. One trick... You can order a 0 mg nic level and a 12 mg nic level of the same flavor and PG/VG ratio and then mix em down. 50/50 would be 6 mg for example. 25% nic, 75% zero nic would only be 3 mg. That will let you "play" with levels.

Anything over 50% VG is too...."fatty" for me. I try to stay around 25%.

As a newbie, I have found the experience happens in two sections. First is securing the equipment. I started out with a South Beach kit. Once I found the forum, I significantly upgraded my PV. The second part is discovering flavors and juice vendors. I like that the tinkering keeps my interest which in turn keeps me from analogs.
