I quit over 6 months ago using a kr808-d. I started vaping and never looked back.

I have a few suggestions or thoughts on your dilemma. The first one is look at it as switching brands of cigarettes. If someone told you they had a new cigarette brand that was cheaper and it didn't kill you bit it tasted a little different would you switch brands? Your not quitting nicotine. your quitting all the other crap in cigarettes.

go outside with your smoking crew and vape. Don't make it painful in your minds eye. Just vape, all day and be happy you switched brands.

Here is the reality. Your addicted to nicotine, vaping provides that. You can do this just embrace the idea of getting you fix from vaping. if you get an urge, vape it away.

Well there's something to be said for "people, places and things".......as with all addictions. If you are comfortable stepping out with your smoking friends/co-workers - fine. But it takes time to break habits....certain scenarios can lead you to smoke instead. i.e. having a drink in a bar, can you do it without smoking? Certain daily occurrences where you would have smoked quite a bit - like when you're cooking, or having coffee - all are triggers. Figure out your triggers and try to eliminate smoking one trigger at a time.

I bought my first e-cig in mid April. Vaping really helped me cut down on smoking cigarettes, I noticed an improvement every day, until....

I took a family trip to see some family in California for a wedding. I packed 2 batteries, 15 cartridges, my PCC, and a wall charger. Now, I have a couple of cousins and uncles who also went and have been smoking cigs probably for about the same amount of time I have. I caught myself joining them for every cigarette break they would take. So at the end of the first day I had smoked probably about 12-15 cigarettes when I had been cutting down to about 3 a day back at home. I diddnt end up using my e-cigs as much as I had planned.

When I got back home I kept the smoking habit. I basically stopped using the E-cig and went back to smoking about a pack a day. But this past week I picked it up again and i'm giving it another shot. I don't plan to smoke cigs for the rest of my life so I need to man up and quit the habit.

When you see your peers going outside for a smoke how do you contain yourself from asking to join? Or when they just decide to light up a cig right in your face ? I normally would just pull out my e-cig but just watching someone smoke can really get me sometimes. Any tips?

Also, should I only use my e-cig when I'm really really really about to give in to have a smoke? Or should I just take drags all day long? Reason I ask is because I feel that when Im in the position where I really crave a cigarette and I take a drag from my e-cig it makes it feel so much better. Does taking drags all day make your body just get used to the nicotine rush to the point where when you take drags you wont feel anything at all?

I would really appreciate of someone can elaborate on this topics a little more.

THANK YOU :p
You have to not smoke at all. It takes a few days for all the toxins from cigs to flush out of your system so that urge for a cig will go away.

The first time i quit was the hardest but what made it easier for me was to focus on each moment as it happened. As i cut down i made a point to brag to anyone that was around. First it was, "I only had 5 cigarettes today!" It wasn't too long until I was saying, "I only had 3 cigarettes today!"... Any improvement is still improvement. If you backslide today then you just make the effort to do better tomorrow.

Eventually you get to the day when you can start counting the hours since your last cigarette and after a while those hours turn into days. I am sure i will still be annoying the hell out of everyone around me for quite some time.
It seems as though i vape constantly and maybe i do but i don't care right now. I started because i had pneumonia and after only a week i already breathe better than i have in years.

For me the hardest part wasn't quitting but staying away from cigarettes. This time i know a little better what i need to do to keep away from them. Hopefully you have learned something and it helps you.

Not succeeding isn't failing, it's an opportunity to discover how to do things better in the next round.

Hello Jerry,

Man it sure is easy to relapse isn't it?

My experience with this relapse issue pertains more to alcohol than cigarettes but I think I can make a good point so allow me to elaborate.

When I FINALLY got sober for the last time I would AVOID other drinkers actively drinking like the plague and if you are prone to relapse when around folks actively smoking I would recommend you do the same FOR THE TIME BEING.

I have now been sober for a few YEARS and I am at the point where being around other drinkers is fine for me. I don't miss it or crave it so it is no longer an issue and I think this will also be the case with you and cigarettes EVENTUALLY.

In the mean time it would most likely benefit you to avoid putting yourself in the position for a relapse.

Lastly, thinking back to that trip and that wedding, how much super important "stuff" would you have REALLY missed if you would have avoided taking those "smoke breaks" while you were away in California? I'm guessing now, after the fact, you probably can look back on this and say you would have missed almost nothing. LOL!

Face it, your addiction got the best of you BUT you also learned something from this set back. Forget about worrying about it now and use it as a learning experience and avoid those type of scenario's in the near future and you will be fine.

Keep vaping and don't give up!

Hay Jerry , your already on the right path man. I know it's bad advice but what worked for me was to spend lots of $$$ on top quality vaping gear. Now the real bit of advice , I don't know your physical condition but I would start to exercise. For me once I felt how smoking held me back from cardio both in and outside the gym it made thing seem more clear. I won't say easier just more clear.

I still smoke every once in a while when I am with another smoker and there is beer involved. I have no problem going back to vaping. Whenever I feel like I want to buy a pack I remind myself I could try a new bottle of juice with that money and it works every time. Its been 4 months since I bought a pack (but I do have ALOT of juice).

Hi Gatillero,

I want to share my story with you of quit smoking....

Actually every Mother is a savior for the child and this is what I have known from her...
My story was like this, She use to tell me this day in and day out,

“No” Means “No” Even with Cigarettes - my Mom's ...dialogue

This dialogue was actually said by my mother I think more than 100 times a day...
she use to shout, howl and give me that grim looks, because I use to smoke almost more than a packet of cigarettes.

So one fine day on my Birthday I decided to quit smoking and give that as a Gift to her.

I went to Doc and he recommended me to use Nicorette Gum the 2mg GUM and Nicorette's 12 Week Nicotine Replacement Therapy...
But the initial week was very difficult for me...because of the craving, but then since I followed the therapy for the next 12 Weeks it so happened that today I am smoke free....
Today with the help of you, I actually got a chance to thank Nicorette and its 12 Week Replacement Therapy.

You can visit their website i.e. Stop smoking now with NICORETTE® and their quit smoking products

And you know what Mother's have a lot of power and they can do anything in this world. I know this because one fine day i will also be

Thanks & cheers...
Pinky

Congrats to you as well Pinky, glad you found the product that worked for you, and you are right, where would we be without our moms. One fine day you will be too..... does that mean you are expecting, or just that one day in the far future? Either way, it sounds like you will be a great mom following the example of your own mom.

Hi Jerry,

In my case, I tried to get rid of my 30 year old habit of close to 2 packs/day many times without success until I found the e-cigs. I must admit that I knew it was killing me and my kids were shouting in my ear every day... That was for me the motivator !
I tried many juices and smoked/vaped in alternance for a few days, until one day when I found some juices I liked more than any cigarette I tried before... now the smell of cigarettes puts me off totally...

I recommend you find a motivator, something that reminds you that you are killing yourself, that you smell like a dirty ashtray when you get in bed and that your tastes buds are screwed beyond your knowledge...

For the first few weeks, I kept an old ashtray in my shed. Every time I felt like a cigi, I would take a big long sniff of the dirty ashtray, and geezzz that puts you off ...
I started with strong nic content to the point where I was getting serious headaches due to the overload of nicotine. I'm not recommending that, but it did help me to use some 24mg then 18mg for a while...

Get a juice and a device you like ! Don't spare on the money, you will get your money back 1000 times and your health with it ! Most smokers prefer a tobacco flavour for the first week or 2, I swapped quickly to fruits and bakery to avoid having the tobacco reminder and I prefer fruit now any day.

I did have a few puffs here & there without feeling guilty but understanding that it was just to try and to remember not to go there anymore... it's now been over six months that I haven't touched a cigi, still got the dirty ashtray just in case ;)

Hope this will help if not to quit overnight, but to know you aren't alone in that case... Take it easy, vape on and try different flavours, you might realise that it's actually much tastier than cigies and why would you want to taste crap in your mouth when you can have a nice warm pumpkin pie flavour or raspberry lemonade any time you wish :)

It's all in your focus - if you don't really want to quit smoking then you won't. I stopped immediately when my first kit came in as I just refused to buy any more smokes. Four days after I started vaping, I was at my son's house and he lit up the same cig I used to smoke. He suddenly realized it and went to put it out. I told him don't bother as it smells like crap and I just hit my PV. I'm around smokers all the time and it actually gives me the resolve to not go back - they really stink.

Some points to make it easier:

Use a high enough nicotine level, I started at 36mg and stayed there for 2 weeks.

Have spares & backups for everything, batteries, chargers, cartos, juice, etc. Pack enough when you're heading out to cover an extended stay. I keep a charged PV (and a charger) in my truck.

Vape often, don't let the cravings attack. I vaped constantly in the beginning and I still vape way more often than I smoked. I have dropped the nic level I use now to 18mg though. Your body will tell you when you have to much nicotine. If it happens, put down your PV and drink a lot of water - it passes quickly.

Just stay focused and soon you'll be smoke free and much happier. BTW, I was a 2 PAD smoker for over 35 years...

Now Im pretty new to ECF, but I gotta say you guys can be so helpful and motivating. I read all the replies and it really alleviated alot of the stress I had when I think of quitting the nasty habit. I need to learn not to accept any set back as failure. I'm a newbie to the site for right now but I'll be here any chance I get. You guys are awesome!

THANKS FOR THE HELP :vapor:

When i first started vaping i was in a loop smoking analogs cause it doesnt satisfied my nicotine cravings. I was only using an ego. But when i decided to learned using the right stuff for my pv and the nicotine strenght of juice it helped me quit smoking. So if your from a heavy analog smoker start with high nic juices. :)

That's right Jerry, stay motivated and don't beat yourself up!

Like others have said, stay focused on vaping, commit to vaping, and before you know it you'll be vaping full time and will have no desire to smoke a stinkie. And then you'll be helping others who are new and needing support. :)

Wishing you success in your vaping journey!!!

In reference to watching peers use their analogs (standard cigarettes) I use the old verbal reinforcement method of letting them know they should really consider switching to an ecig for their health:) This reinforces your own commitment to yuor health by hearing yourself say this repeatedly. Be kind about it though as you dont wanna lose friends over your own choice to kick the analog habit.
I would also recommend that you use your ecig as often as needed until you are detached form the analogs and then begin to reduce your nicotine intake slowly to wean off the nicotine:) The faster you are detached from stinky cigarette the sooner you will eventually be turned off by the smell and the health risks.

A few things that helped me along.

1) Switched to American Spirit cigarettes to help wean myself off some of the other addictive chemicals in smokes.

2) Bought ejuice at below, equal and above my nic level. Used the below when chain vaping, the equal for normal vaping, and the high when I got a strong craving. I got a 24mg sample of Wyatt Earp from FreedomSmokeUSA when I started vaping and as a 12-18mg vaper, I used it to "cheat". A few hits off that with it's nasty stale cigarette ashy taste and the extra punch of 24mg nicotine usually did the trick.

3) After I got to just few smokes a day, I challenged myself to go three days without one. The longer you go without the worse they taste when you go back. I went 7 days because it was easy after the first few. When I tried to smoke at that point, I actually preferred vaping--cleaner and tasted better.

4) Got better equipment as I evolved as a vaper and relied on support from all the kind folks here at ECF.

One baby step at a time and only when you're ready. It's doable if you count every smoke you skip as a victory and do what seems natural to you to break your personal habit. It's not like cold turkey that you fail if you smoke. If you must smoke, just go back to vaping and don't worry about it.

I would advise that you don't let this little slip-up discourage you. If you really want to substitute smoking cigarettes with ecigs you will.

My first attempt at vaping didn't fare so well. I had a job that required extensive travel. It was a %100 travel job, both CONUS and OCONUS. Needless to say; the whole "vapemail" thing wasn't happening. I ordered the original Inferno kit from Volcano along with a few extra juices and clearos. Things were fine for about two weeks, but then it started to slip away. Vaping wasn't convenient. I was surrounded by smokers, and the logistics of ordering supplies and timing them to arrive either where I was, or where I was going to be, or my house, was too much of a headache, so I picked smoking back up.

I had forgotten about ecigs all together for a while.

Then, on May 29th of this year, I found my kit in a drawer, put the pieces together and started vaping. Curiously researching to see what had changed, I found ECF. I haven't touched a cigarette since June 1st. I've been ordering juices, tanks, etc. from here and there, trying them out, and even bought an Empire mod.

Too many words later, I conclude that you stick with it, at a level you're comfortable with, and don't let falling off the wagon once in a while discourage you. That's the beauty of these things, you don't necessarily have to start back at step zero if you slip up. Quitting nicotine, on the other hand, is a different monster.

OMG, thank you much for posting this, you all!

This is really giving me hope.

I have an Ego that my friend gave me, but I haven't been able to stop the cigarettes all together and both of us are worried that I won't be able to ( well, I'm worried, she just keeps trying to encourage me - she just ordered me a higher voltage machine because I complain that the Ego doesn't have enough oomph)

Thank you for posting this you guys!

And Priyanka - hey man, power to you, but I think you're in the wrong forum.
I glad for you that you quit smoking, but all those patches and gum and lozenges did NOTHING for me and I'm feeling a bit desparate here.
I don't mean to be rude, but I guess my WILLPOWER just isnt what yours is.
I am going to do this, but nicorette isnt the way

HI
I use to think, how can a person quit smoking when it's such an important part of your life? In fact it's more than a habit. It's a friend who comforts you when you are lonely or upset. It's a comfort to you in the middle of a cold dark night.

But when it comes to your health and screws you and that time I realized that I should quit smoking.
I really appreciate your post, I will just share you my story of quit smoking,

I gave up smoking last year and that was with the help of Nicorette Gum and its 12 Week Nicotine Replacement Therapy.

My willpower and their Motivational Tips have helped me today to quit smoking and I am very Thankful to them for their support....

I would recommend to all my friends who ever is willing to quit and need some advice Nicorette is the best option. Stop Smoking Tips - Quit Smoking Help from NICORETTE®

Thanks and Cheers...

Pinky.

For me, I hadn't been successful until just this past year, and I'm still tweaking, but I finally feel like a non-smoker. This is what I would suggest: 1) a reliable ecig that will produce a good amount of vapor and throat hit,ie> an ego twist or kgo set up 2)find the top selling tobacco type flavors from ecf vendors and some mint type vapor also helps at the beginning.3)once you find the right device, keep trying different vendors for juices. You will love it!
There are so many choices now with ecigs, cartomizers, clearomizers, atomizers, tanks, etc. that you will not want a regular nasty .......you will be successful!!
Hang in there.......vaping has come very far from when I first started and success is now almost certainly assured-It's
a whole new vape world! :vapor:
