Sounds like you are in the same boat as my husband. Hang in there...I know how hard it can be!

As for a good, not too expensive yet good quality e-cig: I suggest the Smokless Image Volt. You can get everything you need at their site, and they are a great vendor. My husband quit smoking last June using their stuff (I quit a year and a half ago using them..and another e-cig, also). Anyway, do check them out. They also have a sub forum here on ECF with lots of helpful people there you can ask questions and just have a support system with. They have some nice starter kits...and as you get more familiar with e-cigs they also offer nic liquid, refill cartomizers and even larger batteries (X2) and variable voltage...should you want to expand your horizons a bit.

i'm a newbie here as well but a veteran when it comes to smoking and trying to quit. I also failed many times trying out the patch, gum, and Chantix SEPARATELY. It's only been about 5 days completely off cigarettes and purely onto vapeing, but about a month prior i was chewing the gum, had a patch on, smoking a few cigarettes, and vapeing all at the same time. Giving all of these solutions a try at the same time has helped me gradually get off cigarettes. You'll want to watch your nicotine dosage so i cut my patches into mini patches, along with cutting the piece of nicorette gum into mini gum, etc.

Now i dont even crave cigarettes, actually even the smell of cigarettes bother me now, but i'm all about vapeing now. It's become a hobby & obsession. Hope this helps!

Hi Terry, Thanks for sharing your story. The good thing about e liquid is that you can cut down your nic level as fast or as slowly as you want. You can start with say 18mg and cut it down with VG from wal mart as often as you like. I have been going down 1 mg every 3 weeks and have had very few nic fits. I am half way from 26 mg to 0. I would recommend the volt from smokless image or the ego twist. The twist performing better of the 2 but the volt looking like a cig if that is important to you. The cig alike models all have limited performance because of their size. The twist in a 650 mah size is about as big as a sharpie marker. Good luck and don't be afraid to ask questions around here.

Just a quick note here...the Volts are "cig-a-likes"...but Smokeless Image as the equivalent of an eGo...which is the X2 and they have longer battery life (but are bigger...about the size of a Sharpie). They also have what they call a "Spinner" which is like the eGo Twist. You can get everything at the one site. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

The Smokeless Image Volt lineup is a good one; it got me completely off of cigarettes within a week of vaping. However, I soon outgrew the cigarette and cigar sized batteries and moved on to advanced personal vaporizors (mods) that use cheaper, replaceable, rechargeable batteries for better vaping satisfaction and overall durability and a wider choice of juice delivery devices (juice carriers that heat the e-liquids and turn them into vapor).

I recommend getting a Volt starter kit with at least 2 78mm length batteries, a charger, and at least one of the larger X2 batteries for use at home. For juice carriers, I'd go with blank cartomizers to fill yourself with bottles of e-liquid that you can purchase from Smokeless Image. They have two juice lines to choose from. The cartomizers are re-fillable, and can be used for 2-3 weeks before they need to be replaced with a new one. Having 2-3 going at once with different flavors is helpful.

Figure on consuming 3-5 ml of e-liquid a day. A 1 ppd smoker should start with a nicotine strength of 24mg. Get a variety of flavored e-liquids, not just tobacco flavors which might not turn out to be your cup of tea.
