I started vaping about a month ago. I went to my local vape shop and purchased the beginers bundle which included an eGo-c twist and KangerTech mini protank 3. I wasn't a cigarette smoker but I did smoke black and milds more often than anyone ever should. I have absolutely no desire to smoke them anymore and I am more than pleased with my vape pen. The only thing is now I find myself wanting more, I have started doing a little research on mods and even went to the shop to talk to them and see if they had any suggestions for me but I didn't quite feel like I got the help I needed. (He did suggest i join this forum) I know there are risks involved and that I need to be properly educated. Can I get some advise please?

I own an MVP v2 and I must say it is an excellent mod. Like mentioned, there will likely be a mvp v3 soon, but for 45 or so shipped (seems to be more $$$ in vape shops from what I've seen), if you want a mod now, it is an excellent choice.

A Vamo would be another great beginner choice I'd say, but with it you would need to purchase an 18650 battery and a charging kit. They are cheaper than the MVP, can vape at higher watts (11 vs 20 on the Vamo V6), but with the MVP you don't have to worry about batteries. The MVP can also vape while charging which I find to be a great asset.

If you have any questions I'll try to give you more of what I know so far, as I am rather new myself.

Hi dmilan54
Just stay away from anything "mechanical mod" until you've understand electrical basic laws. And read a lot if you want to try them.

Any electronic mod from good famed maker will do the job, i hope so.

Don't buy too low end gear. I don't kwow about American market, but here in France, vamos are good cheap electro mods.

I'm really new to this, like a wk new lol! I also got an ego-c twist, but mine is not stating charged more then 5 hours.... Going back to the store I bought it at tomorrow to see what they will do to help me work this out. Any other good pens out there that will last me all day?

eGo Twists don't generally last a whole day. Depending on how much you use it, a half day is about right.

Others, such as what OldLadyO suggested might work better for you. Generally pen style batteries won't go for the whole day, unless you are a very light vaper.

Good luck!! :)

to ecf dmilan54. So glad that you are here and congrats on the vaping. There are so many choices but I am sure you will find what you are looking for by reading all the recommendations. I know I was happier with the mvp2 than I was with the stick mods. I tried dripping and that was it for me. I loved it. That is why I ended up using a reo grand. The ultimate dripper IMO. I have read so many good things about the istick also. Great price. Good luck to you and I look forward to reading more about your journey. Have fun.

If you're looking for a E-go style (pen type) the SLB eGo-VV-V4 is pretty reliable. I started with the V3 version back in March and they it still works great. They sell them at Sweet-Vapes.com for about $30. It is a variable wattage and variable voltage device with 1300mAh and has a wattage range of 3-15 watts. The 1300mAh may fall short of lasting all day on a charge, depending how much you vape. It also has pass-through charging so you can vape and charge. It fits good with a Pro-Tank or Nautilous.

If you aren't hard over on the device being an e-Go style, then I would take the advice of many who have posted to this thread and go with the MVP.

I've never owned an MVP but it's definitely a good place to start with mods. I started with a KSD e-Huge which is basically a Vamo. Start with something that goes up to like 15 watts and 5 volts. You're not going to need anything with crazy high wattage to run a Protank. Plus the MVP has some awesome battery life. I've read people get a couple days out of them.

I'm new to this too. I recently picked up an ovale v8 for $14. It's a super no frills vv mod (not even a battery meter). It's small and definitely lasts all day. It does take removable battery's so would need a charger and Batts. I used it for 271 hits and the batteries, (purple efest 18350s) were at 3.9v. I disc golf so an all day mod I can beat on or lose makes it work perfectly. I use a protank 3 on top. It's a tiny unit I love.

I have two ego twists that are 650 mah and one 1100 mah. i use them pretty heavily and the 650s only get me about 4-5 hours at best. the 1100 gets me about 8 if i'm lucky. i just picked up a 1300 and 1600 VV in the pen style and they last a lot longer. the 1600 generally lasts me all day (7:30 in the morning until midnight). the mvp2 i just picked up (about the size of a cigarette pack) lasts a couple of days easy.
