Hiya everyone,

I've wandered the forum for a week(ish) and finally decided to register. I've tried some cheapo devices (enough to know they will help get off the analogs) and doing so helped me realize what will be important to me in a new device. My needs: easy draw/drag (been a sucking fool on the cheap ones), good taste (although not sure it will need to taste like a cigarette. Maybe at first?), decent but not insanely hard TH, good vapor, great battery life (not always able to recharge every few hours, and ran out way too many times already!).

Finding it incredibly overwhelming to go through all the research. i'm one that typically researches until I find the perfect answer :) Not happening on this topic I think! Due to that, I just took the plunge with what seemed to fit the highest percentage of my definite needs based on what I've hated about the e-cigs I've tried thus far and what I've missed the most. Since I don't care what it looks like compared to an analog, just that it not be massive, I decided on a kGo and just placed my order through Dark City Vapor.

Suspect I'm missing some basic needs (syringe, carrying case, etc), and perhaps don't have enough of each ordered. I got a basic kGo kit, which came with:
2x 1100mAh Batteries, 5x Empty Cartomizers, 2x Matching Cones, 1x USB Charger w/wall adaptor, 1X Drip Tip. Added on: about 30 ish mL in liquid (varying types - samplers) and Smok Tech Dual Coil Cartomizers - 5 Pack.

I'm guessing I forgot something or screwed something up other than no syringe or carrying case (will be working on those tonight). Feel free to point out my oversights if you spot them :) Looking forward to learning more and getting to know everyone.

Jessica

Looks like you did well. You don't have to have the syringe. One suggestion though. Buy small bottles (5-10ml) of juices until you find one you like. Many of us have bought large bottles only to find out we don't like it. Many companies offer sample size packages.

Vapedudes.com has a couple of great promos. If you use the code "fbfree" they will send you a free 10ml bottle. You can also use the code "Vapedudes" for 40% off our order. They will allow you to use both on the same order, so you can actually get 6 bottles of juice to try for about $12

Thanks Mroutlaw. Thankfully the "don't buy a lot of one thing" was one thing that I managed to remember! I got 1 10mL bottle free with the cartos and the rest are 5 mL samplers. i appreciate the coupon codes and website referral. My first batch of juice was all cgarette flavored...now I can order some fun stuff :)

Can anyone tell me what the "cones" are for? That was the only thing that came with this kit that I was totally clueless about.

Hi Jess,

I'm just a few weeks ahead of you and just made a second order to fill the gaps. You don't need the syringe but it will help a lot, but you can buy them at any grocery with a pharmacy or pharmacy standalone store. They typically carry some for the diabetics. In the mean time though I found that pulsing a toothpick up and down in the hole while dripping liquid down the pick works fairly well and easily.

The cones just go over the cart, at least that's what they do in mine, and hold everything in place. Helps with any leaking as well so it's not going everywhere but down onto the atty. You don't need any more or replacement ones.

You have enough carts to last for a couple of months depending on use. But I suspect that once you try the Smoktech over the simple carts you won't want to switch back. So more Smoktechs when you figure out what liquids you like and order in bulk together. Also, a carrying case will help along with a few small bottles, 3-5ml?, to tuck into the case. That way you don't have to lug around 10 ml or 30 ml bottles to refill. Tuck a syringe in and you're good to go :) Also, maybe try a 1.7 single coil vs. a 1.5 dual coil at some point and see which you prefer. Also, make sure to get some 0mg nic juices because you'll find yourself wanting to vape more even when you don't need or want more nic.

Much more down the line look into getting a spare battery or two for backups. I found that i'd rather carry around a spare battery or two than a bunch of different cables for a passthrough or car or usb. So I just swap a battery when it gets low and charge it at night and plug it back into my carrying case.

Hope that helps.

You seem to be off to a good start, congrats!!

A spare charger is a must, 2 batteries will NOT hold a charge long enough to wait for one to be shipped...:)
A variety of different carto types, (see what YOU like), one box at most 'till they past muster...
An atty or two to drip with to test new flavors without wasting a carto.

p.s. Welcome to ECF !!

Your purchase sounds very similar to one that I recently made, so I'll give you some of my opinions. The cartomizers that come with that kit have a chemical taste and the filler isn't very good quality. I ordered the smoktech single coil carts and had a lot of issues with those as well, hopefully the dual coils will work better for you. There are a lot of people complaining about smoktech cartos lately, so for your next order you may want to try boge (and I agree with a previous poster that you should order the single coil LR).

I also like the atomizer that Dark City Vapor sells (it's actually more of a clearomizer). It doesn't give as much of a throat hit, but it holds a lot of liquid, is easy to refill and clean, you don't have to guess about how much liquid is left, and it's been lasting for a long time now.

You may or may not need a syringe, a lot of people prefer the condom fill and the drip method, including myself. I may be biased from the time that I stabbed myself with the needle (stupid mistake, and hurt like crazy).

Being new to this too I found that going to local stores does actually help because most of the people there are helpful with different flavors and at least out here did let me test the ones that they had personally with them. It gives you and idea of what you are going to like and different vp/pg mixes, but bring a note pad and don't be afraid to say "I have no ideal what you just said" because confused looks don't always work

Are the chargers prone to defects? I always assumed people said to get an extra to keep with the kit so that you're not forgetting it when leaving the home.

I bought a ton of cheapo devices...and finally i made myself a variable voltage box mod...worked great however it was super bulky...i went with the hype and ordered a ProVari...expensive i know...but way way worth it and i have to say it was definitely not hype! Even went all out and got the extended cap for the 18650 battery...because like u i cant recharge often. Plus its variable voltage and u can go up or down depending on how hard u want the hit or how long u pull etc. Any questions ask me.

It appears I got lucky and received 2.0 bogo cartos (7 total), without even realizing they came with this kit. Whoohooo! Received yesterday and have vaped all day today. Was surprised that the tobacco flavored ones just don't do it for me. Strawberry Mint juice is a hit though. Looks like I have to order more juice, as my first purchase was mostly tobacco flavored. Very happy lady today. Only smoked one analogue (the first of the day).
