After smoking for 30+ years and a gillion failed attempts at quitting I've decided to try the E-cigs after a customer at work touted them. I ordered a Vapornine Rio and some clove juice. I can't tell you anything about it since it hasn't arived yet.

I do have some questions.

1) All the websites seem to be single brand. Is there a multibrand seller?

2) I love licorice but couldn't find anyone with that as a flavor option. Is it available?

3) There is some noise about banning these. Why? I live near the border. What about Mexico?

4) Exactly what is the ratio fluid to # of cigarettes.

5) How much use can one expect from one unit? How many charges can the battery take before crapping out. What about the heating element?

6) Is there really any difference between brands?

I'll probably have more questions and I'll be posting my experiences as I try to make the change.

There are many different types of MODELS... Models is what you need to look at rather than "brand"

2) I love licorice but couldn't find anyone with that as a flavor option. Is it available? I've tried licorice (my own blend) it was not pleasant... Maybe this is why other people do not sell it.

3) There is some noise about banning these. Why? I live near the border. What about Mexico? E-Cigs are new, and have not been fully proven (to be good or bad) and for some reason, the FDA is cracking down.

4) Exactly what is the ratio fluid to # of cigarettes. This depends on the nicotine level of your e-liquid. It can range from 6mg, to 26mg (sometimes even higher) most people start off/like 18mg.

5) How much use can one expect from one unit? How many charges can the battery take before crapping out. What about the heating element? These can be totally random... Usually batteries will last months and months. (Most people say around 250 charges) and the atomizer's life can vary depending on use, the model type, and how one takes care of it... Some people go through them in 2-3 weeks, other in a few months!

6) Is there really any difference between brands? Not really, the model number is what you need to be looking for. Be careful, there are many knock offs...

I'll probably have more questions and I'll be posting my experiences as I try to make the change.

EDIT: Let me add a few points. There are many variants of e-cigs... Such as penstyles, minis, super-minis, and mods.

As to be expected, super-minis will be very small... But also have a very small battery charge (3 hours or so). Penstyles have a longer charge, but are also larger! There are many mods that you can attach a normal atomizer to (such as a 510, or a DSE-901) these "mods" are usually meant for enhanced voltage (better vapor, etc) and for MUCH better batter life. These things can be huge... When I was a noob, I would refer to some of them as silencers on the end of an assault rifle.

Ok, so let's move on.

Some very good models to start with are...

The 510 (AKA Joye 510, Yeti, Titan)

The DSE-901 (or the RN4075... The RN has a hotter burning atomizer, so they are not technically identical)

or if you want a larger model... The DSE-801 (Penstyle)

There are also many MODS to consider if you like to have a very long lasting battery at home...

Welcome. Redramen pretty much covered most of you questions.

I use a 510 auto and a L2 510 manual. Like them both. Did the "blue foam cart mod" and find that this works better than the original carts. My 510 carts hold 8 to 9 drops (.2ml e-juice) and give me 40 to 45 puffs at 3-4 seconds per puff. My old analogs were good for about 12 puffs. That means a cart is giving me the equal of about 3.5 to 3.8 analogs on .2ml of e-juice.

So... 10ml of e-juice yields between 9 and 10 packs of analogs. At least the way I vape they do. I'm in North Carolina and analogs are between $45 and $59 depending on the brand. A 10ml bottle of e-jucie is between $6 and $8. I can handle a savings of approximately 85%.

If you're looking for a licorice flavor, I suggest looking for sellers that sell Fennel.

Licorice, anise and fennel share one common flavor component, anethole.

Cheap Licorice flavoured candy uses anise which is where the anethole comes from. The good stuff uses licorice extract which contains glycyrrhizin. I'd like to know if they the real stuff.
