Hi! I've been vaping for three months on the ego-t pens, but just received my MVP 2 today. (I quit analogs after about 10 days of vaping, which wasn't even why I started, but I'm thrilled!) I also bought an extra iclear30s clearomizer. I mostly vape cherry and watermelon VG-only Wicked Vapor, but also I have some other DIY flavors from them to mix with the plain.

I don't know anything about voltage and wattage settings for vaping (only what I know from ham radio! :) ). Where should these be set? Also, I am lost about changing coils and wicks as I have only used the disposable cartomizers with the ego pen. Should I have ordered parts, too?

HELP! Thanks!

You change the coils when the taste deteriorates , it becomes clear after a while when to change them _ mind you I'm speaking from a nautilus tank point of view but i gather its similar for most tanks with replaceable coils.

Having a look coils for the iclear30s well from one website come in 1.5Ω 1.8Ω 2.0Ω - My nautilus coils are 1.8Ω and i vape those at anywhere from 3.7V - 4.5 volts.
The volts and wattage you just play around with and see what you like as it depends on the resistance of the coils your using as well as the liquid.

Though you should have some replacement coils if you don't have any , that is if your staying with that clearomiser.

I will add that I have read about those innokin clear clearomisers before from a store that said they come with the MVP2 and the store says they are not very good.
Just saying as i have never used them.

I'd suggest using watts instead of volts, set the watts to 6.0 and vape. Increase the wattage one or two and try it again. When you begin to get a burnt/off taste, decrease the wattage one click, and you should be good to go.

That is what I would suggest. I typically use volts. I start from 3.3 and move up from there. You will notice the vape getting warmer. Also keep in mind with those coils, they may not wick(saturate the juice) as quickly as other setups, so even if it tastes right at higher volts/watts, you might get dry hits cause it isn't getting juice to the coil fast enough. For 2.1ohms, I am guessing the sweet spot will be between 3.7 and 4 volts.

In my limited experience, the Iclear 16 and 30 isn't a terrible clearo, just has the same drawbacks that all the top-coil attys have - namely keeping up with the coils / dry hits when I'm absentmindedly chain-vaping away (pomtini; flip the clearo upside down to saturate the wick where it meets coil more effectively). I've also found it's a bit of a juice pig when compared to any of my Kanger or Nautilus tanks - but then again, so am I. Other than that, my only other complaint is the inability to change out the drip tip which is pretty damn minor (well, that and I will admit the idea of rebuilding the atty and rewicking in these looks daunting enough for me to not try).

A couple of pieces of advice in regards to your MVP (and any other mods you may own); a dab of Noalox on the threads goes a long way towards keeping them sharp; and remember to only tighten the clearos down until you feel resistance, then back off the beauty ring for support - the center contact pin in the MVP tends to get pushed down when overclocked and it can be a real PITA to fix (conversely you can use a 510 - Ego adapter which seems to alleviate the issues, but adds an extra half-inch to the overall length). Solid mod though, I've hauled mine all over the countryside, dropped it off of a cellular tower (I'm a communications rigger), and generally abused it with no detrimental effects outside of a few scratches and dings.

The lower the resistance of the coil, the lower the watts. For example, with the 1.5ohm coil in one of my tanks, 8 watts give a nice vape whereas a 2ohm coil in the other tank needs 9-9.5 watts for an enjoyable vape. In the one box of BVC coils, I've seen varying resistance even though they're labeled as 1.6ohms. I prefer watts over volts to allow the chip in the MVP2 to do the math.

Wow! I haven't seen anybody mention this yet (they probably did but I haven't seen it), but just by changing the e-juice itself I find better results by changing the settings. For example, I have a sample from MBV Maui Sunrise 50/50 and no matter how low I set it (3.3v or 6.0 watts), it vaporizes right away. Higher setting doesn't change the flavor or the clouds much. And I would expect it to be the same until you start getting the burning taste. MBV Maui Sunrise has mostly a pineapple taste plus others fruity flavors that I can't really nail down, but the exhale has a weird taste that I have no idea what it tastes like (it isn't like the inhale and I don't like it very much).

I also have MBV Coffee 50/50 18nic. In a clone tank (2.8 ohms), this behaves much differently. On voltage 3.3v isn't enough, and 4.2v the e-juice burns (4.1v burns a little). Although 3.7v seems to be the best spot for me. In watts, 6.0 it much higher than 3.3v and I only tried this e-juice up to 8 watts. 6.5 to 7.5 watts are very close. This e-juice tends to darken a lot while vaping. It gets so bad it almost looks like black ink in the tank. Today I had enough of it and the flavor was gone and everything. I just flushed the tank with hot water and dried for a bit and refilled. Flavor is better after a few dozen puffs and I have been using the lower voltage or power settings and hoping the e-juice doesn't darken again. Although it only has been a half of a day, I think it is going to end up being solid black again in time even using lower settings. As it looks like it is still getting darker and darker and I am only using 6.5 watts now.

DIfferent juices taste better at different power levels. I.E. my homemade vanilla cinnamon creme swirl tastes better at .8 ohms, while my banabread can take all the way doen to .3 ohms. I only run a mechanical mod so I change my coils based on what juice is ready to be used and stick with it for a while.

The iClear 30s coil head is the easiest to change of any clearomiser IMHO and I got a nice smooth vape from them. I used to be a fan but defected because of the plastic tank and the fact that there's no way to control the airflow. Voltage/wattage is always a matter of suck it and see, a phrase that could be the vaper's motto. I want to congratulate you on quitting smoking and to wish you lots of fun, interest, and pleasure from vaping.

When I bought my MVP2 a year ago I just enjoyed the vape. I found the sweet spot using volts and vaped away. I was vaping right around 3.7v on a 1.8ohm coil. Then I bought a Kanger2, then Kanger3, then Nautulis mini. Now days you have many more choices than the clearomizers I mentioned. I would try a Kanger single or dual coil with the air flow adjuster at 1.8 ohms or a Nautulis mini. You have picked a great mod. I still use mine and it also works as an ohm reader when I build coils on my mech mods. You cannot build below 1.0 ohms on the MVP and I like that as a safety feature. Kick back, relax, and enjoy your vape!
