Good afternoon everyone. I joined here yesterday and have been reading and watching videos on youtube. I have seen the BLU ecig at stores before but never thought about getting one. Until a friend from a pipe forum started talking about his experience with ecigs and this forum. What a great place.

I have not really made a decision yet on model or maker. But from the tons of videos I have watched I am thinking about going ahead and getting something with a carto instead of a atty. Is this a good decision? From the videos everyone talked about tanks leaking so I thought I might steer clear of that. Mrtrucker40108 is the guy that turned me on to this place. So far I have liked what I have read and everyone's attitude here too.

Yes, start with cartos. It's nice to have an atty or two for testing out new flavors, but 90% of my vaping is in cartos.

Most find any battery that is the size of a cig will not deliver the power you need. I wouldn't bother with the Blu.

Riva/Kgo/eGo are good ways to start. Some will come with tank systems...meh. Get a couple packs of Boge cartos 2-3ohm (the lower ohms are hotter)

The tough part is juice. Finding "your" juice is on you, because taste is so subjective. Get lots of very small bottles till you find "the one".

welcome eggman you have found the right place...people are super friendly and informative here any questions just ask.... and most tanks now are pretty well adjusted to the leaking problems... so have at it ... a few people like the blu product but to get you into a good fit there are a few questions..... how much do you smoke a day...what brand..... that might help with the device.... but there is alot to take in so take it slow and start small.... maybe an ego type to begin with...and move up from there...

Welcome Eggman!

I started with cartos and I'm quite sure I wouldn't enjoy a 3-piece PV nearly as much as I do the 2-piece. There are so many choices of PV that it can be overwhelming. I started out with a KR808 and swore I'd never use anything else. I'm now using a GoGo. No, it's not an 808, LOL. There are a lot of things I swore I would or wouldn't do that I've changed my mind about in my long 4-month vaping career!

My personal recommendations are the GoGo and the Elite 808. Both great 2-piece units. Well, technically, the GoGo is a 3-piece unit since it has a cone, but it uses cartomizers. Great big cartomizers!

Welcome to ECF, eggman.

Starting with an ecig using cartomizers instead of the atomizer plus cartridge is a stellar decision. Also, carto tanks are relatively new, but are a great invention. I found when I started using carto tanks, my leaking problem was probably 'user error'.........LOL.......If you should decide to try carto tanks later, just do a search on the tank name and you will see posts with all the pros and cons of specific tanks.

Welcome eggman. You will learn a lot from this forum. Also Mrtrucker has obtained quite a bit of knowledge in the last few weeks. Try his lavatube...if you are going to drop 70-100$ getting set up that might be the way to go. Bypass the beginner stuff and go straight to vaping your face off! Do stay away from blu...although I am sure your buddy told you that.

Good luck making your choice!

Welcome to ECF eggman!

There is tons of information here and it can be a little overwhelming for a new vapor. Tanks are great and you might want to check them out later but there is no need to start off using one. I think starting off simple with a cartomizer based ecig is a great idea. The advantage of using a cartomizer is that you wont have to worry about filling it with juice as often as an atomizer. The only thing to be aware of is that it wont be easy to change what juice is in a cartomizer. So if you want to try a bunch of different flavors and nicotine strengths, you'll probably want a bunch of cartomizers. If you're gettiing pre-filled cartomizers it shouldn't really matter but if you're buying juice and empty cartos just make sure you get at least one carto for each juice.

Hi eggman and welcome to ECF. Many new vapers become disenchanted with vaping if they begin with cartridges. Most also switch to cartomizers as they are easier to use and cost about $2.00 per week. You can also buy juice separately and very easily fill your own. As for a PV I would search this forum and buy from an ECF listed vendor. They operate under a strict code of ethics and if they don't provide good service and quality product members will call them out. Some vendors have lost the right to list here because of service/ ethics issues. Many of the vendors here also have discount codes- anywhere from 10- 35% off.
Good Luck and enjoy your stay. Vapoor.

I like my blu. I've had it for a year. Not many people here like them, though. I just started refilling my cartos a few days ago, and ordered a third battery, because I thought my 2 original batteries have got to wear out soon. I see too many people on this forum spending hundreds of dollars on their big rigs, and then complaining, and tweaking and asking for help. I'm very pleased wih my decision.

Good decision to stay clea of "Blu". One of the worst models on the market. They put every penny into marketing and nothing into improving their "bottom of the heap" model.

Definitely get a model with batteries that are at least 650 mAh. The higher the mAh rating on the battery, the better. To put it in perspective, I believe the Blu battery is 90 mAh - very, very weak.
