Here, now
Hey guyz,

I'm new to this forum and I'm really impressed by the volume of info provided here... not to mention the responsiveness of its community. that rocks! Sorry if there's some terminology mistake or if this thread is duplicate with others but the info here is somehow overwhelming.

I've started vaping ~ a month ago. I've purchased a set of 2x cheap eGo (kickoff) to try it before spending more and... I just love vaping! (tried a few cigarettes since and found it disgusting... mission accomplished!:2cool: ) I'm still toying around to find what best suits me in terms of flavour and atty/clearo/... (I'm heading for an EVOD or Protank depending on the other parts; later on I might try some dripping)

Anyway, now I'm looking for some real stuffs and based on what I've red here, a good mod/battery sounds like the wisest starting point.
>> What do you recommend as a Main?I've seen many praises about the Provari, zMax, eVic...
I first thought of the eVic as an expensive gadget but as its price is going low (~60$ here), wouldnt it be a good deal? I dont care about the gadgets except the VV/VW (still the USB bypass is a nice feat), so how about its performance compared to other mods?
Is it possible to tune the voltage (VV?) on a MECHA mods?

>> What do you recommend as a Backup?

even thou I have enough eGo as backup, I'd be glad to know what you suggest for a SMALL, convenient vapo with VV at hand. I mean small, it doesnt have to be mini as long as it fit within a pocket (without breaking to easily)
eGo twist? Spinner? iTaste? ...?

any suggestion is welcome

Cheers

I have a couple of lavatube based vv's and they are ok....but I pretty much stick to mechanical mods or passthrough. The vv's use micro pulses to deliver consistent voltage which can make it interesting to vape because each different piece of hardware you use will have a different sweet spot. For instance...I use my vv's at 3.2v with the 3 hole dripping atomizer to test flavors but the same exact hardware tastes different and better in my opinion on a straight mechanical mod at 4.2v down to 3.5 before I change batteries.

If I had to start over again I would still use AW IMR batteries and probably build a bpxmod around the 26500 which is C battery size is 3000 may and has a main power curve at 3.7v meaning that the majority of the battery use is between 3.79 and 3.71. My 18650s that I have relied on for over a year have a power band of 3.6v which means I burn through the upper voltages and stay in the 3.69 to 3.59 range for the majority of my vaping. One day you will understand why that is a major difference

Welcome to the forums! I just got here myself a little bit ago lol. Still getting used to it all.

It all really depends on what you are trying to accomplish and what style you prefer. Do you want something big? Something smaller like an ego? You can get a vamo for pretty cheap (50-60) bucks along with batteries and a charger from fasttech. It's also VV and VW and works with ego-style threading so you can use all of your stuff for it. Try researching some reviews on youtube about the evic and vamo and other devices you might consider getting and see which one fits your style of vaping.

When I first started out I got an ego twist and an ego-v v2 and they are both VV. They are really great devices for being pretty cheap and I still use them to this day. If you are looking for an usb/passthrough device the ego-v V2 is definitely something you might consider getting as a backup or even for a main it works well and I still use it for when I'm at home in front of my computer most of the time.

As for mech mods, there is a little thing called *The Crown* it's a new VV/VW drop-in module for mechanical mods. You could also get a kick which is just a VW drop-in module but it works well and a lot of people use them.

Anyway, welcome to the forum and I hope I helped a bit :)

HI
Welcome. I'm alot like Keitaro ^.....just signed up too lol

Anyway, my 1st mod out of the ego stock was an iTaste MVP. The whole kit cost me $80, but online you can find it for less (about $60?). That thing was a BEAST. I didn't need a back-up because it lasted me for days before I needed to recharge. To beef it up even more, the kit included 2 clearos (mine came with iClear 16s, but the new one's come with iClear 30s, I think?), a "beauty ring" and a charger. Well, that's my suggestion.

I like the VAMO as well. Right now it's my at-home vape with a Protank or an EVOD.

I recently got the iTaste VV and I'm pretty impressed with it. All of the same features as the VAMO but in a smaller package; with an EVOD on it I can carry it around in my pocket without a problem. If you are looking for a variable power device with a small form factor it can't really be beat for $35.

I love my vamo too but the itaste vv is more pocket friendly. Evods work well and are inexpensive enough to get a few for switching flaves as the your mood changes. For me, 12 ml when steady vaping, 18 for semi-steady vaping and some 24 when you know you can only sneak in a couple /few vapes at a time(a few quick hits when you go to the rest room). Welcome and congrats for leaving the analogs behind!

I am also new here, i have enjoyed the itaste VV 3.0 with mini Protank very much and it will likely be my go to mobile mod once my itaste SVD arrives. It is very pocket friendly, light, and performs very well considering. It is VV/VW so use what suits you, and it charges with a standard micro-USB making it very friendly if you have to travel often. It can also be used as a pass-through-like device while it charges.

My advice, for what its worth, is to spring for the mini-Protank as it looks great on the device and it will allow you to use the juices that have the potential to crack the poly-carbonate tanks like the EVOD.

On the mechanical mods question, I think most of the more experienced vapers would likely recommend sticking with a regulated/protected device until you get a bit more experience. Many mechs can be used with "addons" such as a kick device that allows VV but it requires you to disassemble the mod to adjust it.

As far as a main stay at home mod that is really up to you. Variables to take into consideration include: your price point, aesthetics, performance requirements, how hard you are on your device and many more.

The most common suggest goes something like this:

VAMO - low cost performs well: VV/VW
ZMAX - there are a bunch of these, similar to the vamo but has one button instead of 3 like the Vamo, the Sigelei Telemax looks a bit like a mech: VV/VW
Provari - expensive, highly praised, extremely durable, great warranty: VV
Evic - for the gadget freaks, performs well lots of info, somewhat fragile: VV/VW
Itaste SVD - large, versatile, performs well, looks kind of like a lightsaber: VV/VW
Itaste MVP - different form factor (box) performs well: VV
Itaste VV - small, portable, performs decent: VV/VW
REO - different form factor and juice delivery(bottom feeder box mod), expensive, performs well: VV on some models

These are just a few of the mods out there that may meet your needs, detailed information can be found out in the forums. Good luck finding something that meets your needs. I hope this was in some way helpful.

I currently only have 1 ego vv spinner and love it...it's about the size of a highlighter and I keep it in my shirt pocket at work with a vivi nova or evod on it and most people overlook it as a marker ;) occasionally I'll have a cartomizer (like on the cig look a likes) on it and people are always trying to borrow my pen *giggles*

things to keep in mind, the higher the mAh the longer the battery life
do you prefer a warm vape or a cool vape. Evods are bottom coils and have a warmer vape. Vivi novas are a top coil and have a cool vape.
Try to stick to pv's that have both the 510 and ego connections this way you have all kinds of options when it comes to juice delivery systems.

As already stated fasttech has some great deals but keep in mind most of what they sell are knockoffs some are name brand, read descriptions and reviews carefully and be prepared to wait and wait and wait on your order :)

Variable Voltage (vv) is a nice thing to have as everyones taste is different so you can set your voltage up or down to help suit your needs as well as different juices and different juice delivery systems (cartomizers, tanks, ect) taste different at different voltages.

Variable Wattage (vw) I haven't tried yet but assuming it is the same principle as stated above for vv.

Other than that...vaping is a personal choice/taste and too each their own and whatever you choose you and only you will be the one using it not us so make sure you are happy with what you pick...try finding a pv that you like the look, size, style of and ask questions before you buy.

Something smaller than an ego type battery??? hm...well they do make tiny egos but then you run into the battery only lasting so long.

I just switched from Blu on 8/2/13 and went directly to an iTaste MVP. I was originally checking g out e-go's but decided for the same price point I wanted to skip directly to a large battery mod. I didn't think the e-go models (beside may e the e-Vic) would keep me content for very long. They come with a single 3ml tank now, and I purchased 3 of the 5ml UDCT clearomizer tanks as well so I can quickly swap out 4 different flavors. I am very very happy with it. The fact that I can also use it to charge my phone was the deciding factor in choosing it vs a different model.

Thanks all for your feedback. (InTheMist's list of devices with their highlights was particularly useful!)

For what I see, in terms of backup/on-the-go, whether twist or spinner are fine but some tends to consider the iTaste superior (while in the same size/price category). and btw, thanks for pointing out the MINI Protank. just what I've been looking for (coupled with a few cheaper EVOD)

but for the main, I'm still confused... it somehow looks like Provari >> eVic >> Vamo >> zMax (not sure where to insert the iTaste SVD)
Provari is too expensive for me now. Given that I can get a eVic for the same price as a Vamo, wouldnt the eVic be a better investment or the Vamo performs better? (but I have to admit, the lightsaber look is tempting :p )

Hi and welcome!

It's wonderful there are so many choices these days, but it can also be very confusing. My advice to new vapers is to get a solid pair of batteries (and charger of course), but budget mostly for "juice delivery systems" (the clearos, carto, tanks, etc., that hold the juice and delivers it to the heating element) and juice flavors. Trial and error in vaping is unavoidable, since you don't know what you will like. The battery device is just a power source, and while consistency and long life are important, the JDS and flavors will have a more noticeable impact on your vaping experience.

I have lots of toys. For an entry level device I recommend the Joyetech Twist or Vision Spinner, but if you are already considering a more advanced device, I much prefer the Sigelei Zmax over the Vamo. Everyone has their favorite devices, but while I use the Vamo quite a bit, it has the cheapest feel of all of my mods. That is just my personal opinion. No matter what device you are interested in, I highly suggest you read threads in the sub-forums to see what kinds of problems current owners are having and how they are being resolved.

I'm pretty sure I've read one of your previous post suggesting so. That's actually one of the reason I started this thread: delivery device and juice being of personal taste, I can only experiment on my own (while still sharing info here about the good deals and brand to avoid). Hence, I just had to pick a good batt/mod in order to have a consitent and well powered vapo (cheap eGo kickoff are weak and the vaping experience is not steady enough. this prevent me from getting the best of the juice or delivery device I'm testing)

about the iTaste VW v3, is it comparable to the bigger model (like a zMax) in terms of power/voltage delivered?

@ECURiley: thx, that's another interresting and cheap MOD. havent heard about it yet. is the VV steady?

Also, I've just encountered some reviews about the SMOK Magneto... that looks like a gread MECH. would a kick/crown fit in?
And again, what to check when looking for a Mech? except the aesthetic and the 'size' of it (to accomodate batt), is there important details to check?

As of now, I'm considering:
- MECH: mod-k1-PRO, SMOK Magneto, Sentinel
- VV Mod: zMax, eVic, Smok SID (+ iTaste VW v3 if it can deliver as the previous mods)

I suggest looking at the Tesla. It's a VV/VW APV that's like a Z-Max with some nice features that you just don't see in similar APV's, (e.g. spring-loaded center pin) and it's very durable. It's reasonably priced as well; I bought my Tesla Kit for $85 shipped, (Tesla, 2 batts, charger, 2 cartos and a tank).

Pretty good review here:

Hi again,
here's a quick update: I just went to a local store and bought my new mod... I finally took the eVic
>> ~60$ kit with vivinova V5 (+ another unidentified tank) and a case/purse.

I had the chance to see the iTaste SVD... that's a nice MOD! really good feeling in hand. but still, for the same price, I picked the eVic due to the convenience of its USB passthrough. Other suggested mods were not available there and I didnt really felt like waiting weeks for an order (but I keep them in mind for when I'll be expending my collection)

Sadly, their MECH were out of stock... I'll keep looking for it but at least I got a good MOD now :)
Any suggestion about it is welcome. I'm considering: k1-pro, magneto, Sentinel (but I havent search a lot yet)

cia (I'm going back to vaping...)
