Day 3 and still haven't had a smoke. I'm completely surprised by this. I had downloaded an app to slowly cut down but haven't had to use it. I haven't noticed a difference in my appetite... no munching! I'm so impressed with vaping!! It really doesn't even feel like I quit.

Roni - I started with 36 mg and a 5 volt passthrough. I credit that with my 'stopping on a dime.' I've since dropped back to 24 mg. Does the 24 mg seem about right for you?

Congratulations on the change!

I have both 24mg & 28 mg... I seem to be fine with those (I've alternated between them mostly because they are in different flavors). I seem to be getting the most satisfaction from the coffee flavor (perhaps it's just the mental association between coffee and having a smoke) and that one is 24mg but the flavor is strong. The problem is that hubby hates the smell of that flavor.

Day 4 and still going well. My family is still waiting to see if I get cranky. LOL

Congrats, 3 days was always the toughest part when I tried to quit smoking. Your doing well and should be proud of your progress. When I switched to vaping I put aside some of the money was saving and used it to buy myself treats as I hit milestones.

That's awesome! I'm a little spoiled (and also pretty undemanding) so there isn't anything I have to spend my savings on. Hubby is pretty impressed with my progress and has said I can spend whatever I want on e-cig stuff.... hmmmm.... that's pretty tempting! LOL

My daughter started last evening with her eRoll and is loving it too. She "borrowed" one of my ego twists to take out for the evening while her eRoll was charging. I found some "girly" gear that she fell in love with so we're currently negotiating that. I would like to wait a bit and see if it sticks with her, but at the same time, if it doesn't I can always use the stuff myself anyways.

She wants two of these egos https://www.canvape.com/product-p/egoq.htm and two of the pink MT3's https://www.canvape.com/product-p/mt3.htm ... she's such a girl. I assume the egos are all the same as far as quality goes?

So Canvape does the girly ones now......yeah!!!!.......I've been trolling the UK sites the last 2 days to set up a friend over there and had seen all the pretty fancy batteries on those and wondered why we don't get them here. I guess I've just been a bit out of touch lately. So glad I followed this thread tonight!!!!

I'm a contrarian, start at 36mg and cut it down. If 36mg isn't enough PM me and I'll give politically unwise advise.
The number one reason why it's not easy to quit is that you need to start with a strong liquid.

My friend started vaping and was doing both, than I gave him a bottle of my home made 36mg eliquid and
he stopped smoking cigarettes completely.

Everyone has a different nic tolerance and there are many that need a higher nic content.

Why suffer at a low nic mg level when you can be happy at a higher one!

I seem to be doing pretty well with the 28 & 24mg. The true test was last night when I had some friends over for a few drinks... made it through so still smoke free! My daughter smoked "lights" so we decided to try the 18mg for her, but she is still smoking about 3-5 cigarettes a day. So I'm thinking she may need to bump up (she says she finds my liquid better).

From what I've read on this forum, I've gotten the sense it's really hard to predict what strength somebody is going to take to based on what they smoked. Some light brand smokers seem to need high nicotine; some full-flavor smokers do well on lower mg liquids.

I agree with PaulB

I've noticed it also through perusing many posts and it's really the strangest thing.

We have Pack a Day Marlboro Red Smokers that are happy with 18mg and we have 1/2 pack a day smokers that need 36mg or higher.

It seems that everyone reacts to vaped nicotine solutions differently and there is no predicting what will satisfy anyone.

We bumped my kid up to 24mg and she hasn't had a smoke in 2 days so the 18mg was too low for her. It is a strange thing considering I was a heavy smoker and she was a light smoker... but whatever works! I'm on day 12 with no smokes. Well that's not entirely true. I lit a smoke at the one week mark, and it tasted so nasty that after 3 puffs I put it out. I did it purposely to see how it would taste. How dead were my taste buds? LOL

Yes, once realized, the financial savings can be a huge motivator to staying quit. For me, I decided to take up vaping for health reasons as I was convinced that if I kept smoking as much as I was, my days remaining on this Earth were quickly diminishing. As you can see below I was a heavy smoker, and once I put the actual figures on paper as to how much I actually spent a day, a month, a year on smoking the realization made me sick to my stomach! Armed with the will to quit (health reasons) and the motivation to quit (financial reasons) it was easy for me to say goodbye to the stinkies. And after 1 year and 6 months after my last cigarette I can safely say that I have never felt better! Life is good again because I can breath, smell and taste things I had forgotten about a long time ago!

But the important thing to remember is to go at your own pace and don't force yourself. Making the switch to vaping should be a good experience, not a forced resentful one. With each day that passes without an urge for a cigarette should be celebrated! Milestones are important on your journey as you make the switch, so reward yourself with something with the extra money you have saved, or do something you enjoy that you really couldn't while being a smoker. It's your life and your journey so enjoy the moment while you have it!
