Just some random thoughts from a newbie. Not really looking for help, just thought I would share some thoughts.

So, its been 5 days. I have to admit things have been on and off. When its good, its REALLY good. When it's bad, its bad.

So the good: Boge LR Carto's. I love these and while not giving up on learning atty's I think these are my vape of choice so far on my mini. I love the consistency, the juice feeding, it all just works! No more worrying if I have enough carto's for the day. No hours of filling 10 or 15 at a time. No swapping out during the day.

Oh, and this is my routine, since I have seen other posts on squonking cartos. Fill a fresh carto. Vape for a bit. Sometimes I vape 5 mins, sometimes 15 (during the work day). After vaping i squonk, but dont use this light pressure stuff. I lightly draw and squonk the bottle slowly but firmly and deep until I get a slurp. I dont release at that point i just hold the bottle in at that point do a set of short firm repeated draws until the slurping stops, then I release the bottle. I might do this 2 or three times after I am done vaping for a session, then put it in my pocket. I start the next vaping session doing the same thing with just one press and start vaping again. I check now and then and if the carto doesn't look wet enough I repeat a couple of more times. Never had a dry or burnt carto and had one run about 20 ml's over the weekend before the draw was getting tight and I threw a new one on.

Now the bad: I think I might just be a slow learner. I ordered 2 1.5LR 501 atty's from Avid before the mini arrived. I have been trying really hard to like them, but I just dont. The vape is very "clumpy" at best (if that makes sense), regardless of the juice. It isn't the nice dispersed "veil" of vapor like with the cartos. Also, I think the vape is too hot for my tastes. Speaking of taste, I cant taste the juice like I can on the carto. To me it seems to mute the taste, that is when it doesn't taste like burnt atty. Which leads me to my squonking issues with attys. I have tried blind, and "just to the gurgle, to watching the cup and stopping only when i see a small amount in the air channels. It all tastes, well, burnt for a lack of a better way of putting it.This is especially when I pull a batt fresh off the charger. I measured and they all come off at 4.1-4.2. Put in the battery, prime the atty with about 5-8 drops. Wait a few minutes, squonk and all i get is nasty burned atty. Squonk again... burnt. Eventually i get a good (albeit clumpy) vape, but it's still, well, not for me. I go from light sqonking, to medium, to juice running down the side of the mini, and I get burnt, on both attys way to often based on what I have read here. I have never used an atty until I got my mini 5 days ago, so I know it's me. I have tried both attys now, and even cleaned the first one. I can vape them but only when the batts are half dead.

I think I will order some 2ohm atty's try. If I still have issues, i may just join the mini carto users club full time. Which then means I will need to try dual coils just to see if I like them better or not. I will probably just thow them on an order.

Well just wanted to check in with everyone and pass along some experiences. I LOVE my mini, and actually told a friend interested in vaping this weekend he can gladly borrow, or even have some of my KR8 equipment, or my iGo, but he wouldn't be able to borrow Veruca, even from my cold dead hands. I found my hardware solution, other than getting Veruca a Grand friend to spend time with on the weekends!

Have a great night all!

Grats Bogey. There is nothing wrong with preferring cartos. It DOES take a while to develop skills with an atty. You are not the only one to have issues learning atomizers. I have an atty dunce cap in the closet. I burnt through some and have a couple that are irretrievably clogged (which I initially blamed on the atty/juice combo, but it isn't happening now). I was so bad with the 801, that I had to send my native 801 Woodvil back to Rob for a sex change to a 510.

Hi Bogey,

I'm sorry about your experience with the 306 -- but keep at it, they make take a day or so break-in period. When I got my first Reo, I had standard 510 cartos, and I really enjoyed them! What's great about our Reos is they're versatile, standard or lr 510s, 306, and 801 or 901s (with adapters).

I'm sure you'll find your sweet spot soon :)

Haha mlinky! Yeah i am not giving up, I have a ton of samplers coming of different juices so I will keep trying. Using one carto for only 3ml's of juice just doesn't seem right. I do think though, I am not an "ultra low" resistance person. I am hoping 2.0 is more my speed. You know, I have gotten slower (and wider) as time has gone on. :)

Thanks for sharing your experience, Bogey. And don't feel bad if you decide you're a carto guy. There are many who use them. As far as the burnt flavor, I'm wondering if the 1.5 is just too hot for the juices you vape. I mostly use the 2.0 for that reason. But regardless, I hope you find the 2.0 more tolerable so at least you have options in case you tire of your cartos or run out. :)

You know, come to think of it, before I ordered the mini, I had ordered some 901 attys for flavor testing, and an adapter. I think they are in the bottom of my supply box. Hmmm....

Edit: Oh and I had never tried them, they arrived the day I ordered Veruca.

I wish these didnt sound so great!I can not buy another mod.I have a 5v GLV2,but ever since I heard these will take the new 5v batts Im drooling over them. Can they be used with 808 cartos?

Hi Keyz! Good to see you! They are native 510 so you would likely need a 510 to 901/808 adapter. Although i heard you have to watch for short circuits with adapters. Others here have been so helpful, I am sure they will chime in.

I guess I could try 510 cartos.I just prefer the 808s.

The Boge LR 505's are quite nice. Noisy, poppy, almost white noise(ish) with the AW IMR 14500's especially. Good taste and reasonable TH, but I prefer a lighter throat hit i think. On a scale of Nothing (1) to Razorblades (10) I give them a Bogey rating of 3.5 to 4.

Hi Keyzygirl! Yep...the Grands are super versatile! They can do the 3.7, 5, and 6 volt depending on the batteries and atties you choose. :) And using adapters, you can pretty much use darn near any atty/carto you want. Bogey is right though, using adapters is risky. But many love them and have little to no problems. :)

Congrats, Bogey! After using LR 306's for quite a while, I've become a carto convert again (I started on KR8's). I often found that I had to de-wick my 306's to get rid of the burnt taste - all was good after that. But I have found the cartos to be much more consistent, and I like that the drip well stays dry. I like the dual-coils best with Halo juices, but I just switched to a Boge 2.0 on my Grand using AVE juice that is 100% VG, and found that is a great combo with that juice.

Keyzy, you're gonna have to get one of these ;-)

Hello Bogey I am not a fan of the avid 1.5 atomizer on my mods I find there to hot and have no flavor . I would try a 2.0 atomizer before totally giving up on atomizers .I am a big fan of Em lr 510s mostly because of the flavor I get from them they have a easy draw witch helps with keeping the juice in your atomizer not in your mouth. If the carto works for you I say great. My setup 100% vg with a LR em 510 is so simple to use anyone can run the mod.I rarely look at the reservoir anymore when I do I push the bottle until I have a little juice in the bottom of the reservoir and vape until I feel it getting dry .

The 1.5 510 Atty from Avid is very prone to burn wicks. All it takes is one hit thats too dry and the wick gets burnt.
From that point it will never taste right again. Your options are to de-wick it or chuck it in the trash.

It would be almost impossible to learn without ruining a few, heck almost a year with attys and I burnt a new one a few weeks ago.

Like others have said try a 2 ohm. The nice thing is you have the cartos to fall back on.
I bet you keep trying and find an Atty you like, but you will always use cartos too.

It never ends. I've had a Grand for over 5 months and I'd slap my mama for a Woodvil.
