Ive now done a few recipes. All I found online and all have come out very good. Here's my 1st original idea: Bavarianilla RY4 Swirl

RY4 Double 10%
Bavarian Creme 5%
Vanilla Swirl 3%
Vanillin 1%

I have no experience with the RY4 or vanillin. My desire is for the RY4 to be at the forefront, I think. From what I know there is a vanilla element to the RY4 and from what I gather vanillin is somewhat strong. While I want a good vanilla flavor I dont want to overdo it. How strong is vanillin really? How would you tweak this and what flavors would you add or subtract? Too much creme? Too much or little swirl or vanillin??

Thanks in advance,

John

I have a VERY similar recipe, but I use 5% RY4D. Idk about Vanillin at all. But, give it a try in a small batch. Without Nic (most expensive part). Over time when you let it steep it will change to a deep copperish color. It will be at its peak then.

Flavorings are the most expensive part, but I still agree. Test mixes out without nic. However, nic can change the flavor.
In terms of vanillin, since people perceive flavors differently, what you and I perceive will be different. That's why I test stuff out individually.

Well yes, you do have a very accurate point although you can't taste the flavor without the flavorings. So Nicotine is the most expensive part not required. And that brings up another good point. If you don't know what a flavor taste like start at the low end of the percentages and adjust up as needed. Too much flavoring will mute the flavor. You can always add more, you cannot take it back out.

Wow. Looks my ideas arent so original but thanks. Seems like the only difference is that Im not adding more caramel flavor yet adding more vanilla. Exactly what should I expect from Vanillin (TFA)?

It was always my understanding that vanillin is not really a flavor, yes it does have a vanilla scent, but it is a flavor enhancer. It is used to boost vanilla flavors. I think I would use it at .5% and go from there. I really don't see much need in boosting the vanilla since it is already in the RY and the swirl.

Thanks! That's exactly the kind of information I was looking for! There's so many different flavors out there! I need this site like a baby needs it's mama!
