RDA newbie question, having trouble of building my coil....please help :(

Hi guys, I just got my first rda, Magma and tried to build it today. But the cotton keeps burning out in few seconds....
I have tried to build with 28 and 30 GA Kanthal with around 0.9 ~ 1.0 ohm. My device is Provari (just ordered rDNA40 but haven't got it yet).
Please help me, why my device keeps burning out the cotton? (with 3.0 volt)....

Was there juice on the cotton before you fired it?

looks like - either no juice was put on the cotton - or you have the volts turned WAY up, and dont have enought airflow open to the coil to compensate for the heat flux.


or maybe not enough cotton tails to hold enough liquid for your puffing prefference. try dripping more juice on the cotton before hand - makesure it FULLY saturated

Looks like a parallel build there. The coils do not look too even. Did you try to fire it up without cotton? Was it firing evenly from the middle out? And make sure you also prime your wick. Do not stuff too much cotton into the coil as it will choke and burn.

It would seem you already have the conclusion, but being new to building coils, I would recommend watching a build video from GrimmGreen or RipTrippers, just find a video for a standard micro coil build, you be smooth sailing (or burning) after that. Good luck and pinch those coils!

You need to just stop where you are & find some basic vaping & Coil Building 101 videos on YouTube. RIP Trippers & Ruby Roo have some really good ones. Also Varos Vaper. How are you vaping without knowing how it works, much less building coils? This doesn't look safe at all. Do you have an ohm meter, or multimeter to check your ohms, or are you just throwing some wire around a random round something or other & building bombs? Please learn a little more before you try this again.

Yes, please watch some videos and have a basic understanding of Ohms law before proceeding. This can be a very safe hobby, but batteries are bombs in the hands of the uninformed.

Don't pay any attention to these members borderline trolling; I mean lol it is kinda funny though.

30 awg can be hard to work with, stick to 28 & ditch the parallel build. A standard coils @ ~ 1 ohm will work fine on a Provari & saturate that cotton before firing..

Both a Provari & DNA have built in protection so you are not gonna "blow your self up", just make sure your coil is glowing evenly before you wick with cotton.

If you get a mech mod then yes you will need to learn ohms law & build safety.

Not trolling, I think they were trying to help. If a person doesn't realize that juice needs to be on the wick you have to wonder what else they don't know. Yeah, it's a piece of cake once you understand how it works, but what if you dive in before you understand anything. I'm just glad he came here to ask. Periodically we read about people getting hurt because they didn't know what they were doing and we don't want to see that happen to anyone. There are so many videos out there to learn about how to handle just about anything having to do with vaping it's silly not to learn about it first.
