I know there is link posted some where but I can't seem to find a working one. I am looking for the chart on coil resistance and voltage settings. In the past I used a Kanger T3S with a 2.5 ohm coil on a standard ego battery. I was never a heavy hitter. I always took slow easy one breath hits. Now I have changed to a Kanger Pro tank 2 mini. I have the 2.5 coils with it as well. As you may guess, it tastes like I'm sucking on a diesel exhaust!! I just cannot guess how I got by without this issue on the T3S. Yes, I know I should have a VV battery but am just looking to have something that can be a backup and work with the standard batteries as well. Should I be running the 1.8 coils with a non VV battery?

I have this one too! I use three different charts and double check all the time to be sure.

Hi

Ultimately, one vapes by taste and not charts. According to that chart, some of my set-ups are in the red.

You didn't say what battery device you are using, but even the standard (not VV) don't all fire the same. A authentic Joyetech fires at a regulate ≈3.2/3.3v, whereas the clones are often unregulated. Unregulated means the battery comes off the charger at 4.2v, and then the voltage decrease as the battery discharges, which can make a difference. From what I have been told, as the unregulated devices go down they tend to stay around the 3.7v level, before discharging further, but I don't have a meter and can't confirm that. The pg/vg ratio can also affect how the juice is wicking.

I like a cooler vape, so with 2.5 PT heads (which for me seem to run hot) I usually set my VV at about 3.7-4.1 volts. But again, you may be different and not all the same juice perform well at the same level. You may want to try a different juice and/or use a different device when your battery first comes off the charger, then try the PT a bit later to see if it makes a difference.

ETA: My first kit was standard Joyetech 650s. The attys that came with it were roughly 2.2Ω and the dripping attys I got were 1.5-1.8Ω. That sounds inconsistent with the cooler vape I like now, but it was part of the learning curve. At the time, there were no Vivi Novas or PTs, so I didn't have many choices.

I have one ego standard knock off and one Kanger EVOD battery. Both are now giving the same taste issues even with swapping batteries, 2.5 coils and different typed juices. My biggest question I guess is, why am I starting with a super cold vape and ending up with a burnt vape if i drag too hard or too long? this happens in the same vape, It starts cold and as is starts to warm the juice starts tasting metallic and the coils are very hot. Sounds like a conundrum to me.

Hmmm...I'm going to have to ponder this for awhile; it certainly is curious. In the meantime, I'm sure other members will chime in.

One solution however, might be to stop using the PT and go back to what was working. In my case, I gave the Vivi Novas a good chance, but now they are in a drawer somewhere.

If you drag too hard or too long the flow of juice slows down or stops--your device can't supply enough juice to the hot coil fast enough to cool it off. The result is the dreaded dry hit--you're inhaling hot air from the overheated coil or/and the smoke from the gunk that's being roasted on the coil! Not a good thing.

If your coil is not wet at all times--you'll get dry hits. Never over vape, chain vape, power vape--you'll starve the coil.

According to these charts something doesn't seem right. The way I read them it looks like i should be ok. But I assure you using different coils (all 2.5 ohm), tanks, juices, standard batteries the juice is cooking!

The safest and generally liked range is 5.0-6.0 watts or so. You can't go wrong if you start in that range.

IMO what's happening here is that your wick is running out of juice and then it's burning at the end of the drag. I don't have any experience with the Pro Tank so I have no idea what to do to get rid of this. Google 'burnt hits pro tank 2' turns up this on ECF and a bunch more hits. Best of luck with it!

Your juice isn't wicking properly. Take primer puffs without the battery firing to pull juice into your atomizer. If that doesn't help you can take the post off the atomizer and remove one or both of the flavor wicks. The post just pulls off with a little pressure. This will allow more juice to feed to your coil. With an ego battery

This is what I was about to post also. You took the words right out of my mouth Katya. I vape 50/50 juice so this will happen to me alot if I get to carried away on my draws. You might try to thin out your juice or try a reduced vg juice.

It could be that you are tasting the metal tip of the ProTank. You could be sensitive to the metal touching your lips. One of my coworkers had to do that on her Mini ProTank2 because she claimed all she could taste was metal. The T3S doesn't have a metal tip. Try replacing the drip tip with an acrylic one. When I scorched my taste buds on hot pizza I had to stop using my ProTanks for a week because all I could taste was Stainless steel. I used my EVODS for the week until my taste buds were better.
