Newbie questions: About 5-6 questions

Ok, I got a V4L Vapor King Mini PCC Kit with 8mg Dunhall cartomizers. I fully understand how to charge the battery and travel case....duh! lol!

Now, I started vaping and, from what "little" I know about e-cigs, it seems that I get a good "throat hit" on the first 20 puffs and then it fades to where I get no throat hit, but still have the same amount of vapor. Also, I used to smoke Marlboro Lights at 2 packs per day and then quit COLD TURKEY(hardest thing I've ever done) for 5 years and then, like a freakin' idiot, started back smoking Marlboro Ultra Lights 1 year ago this month, due to financial stress. Anyways, I ordered the 8mg(low strength), but I don't seem to get as much satisfaction as I do from analogues. I still smoke analogues with the V4L because I'm not getting the nicotine I need from the 8mg.

I usually take a 1 second micro puff and then take a 4-5 second slow drag which seems to give me a nice throat hit, which I like. I'm assuming I'll know when the cartomizer is OUT of liquid. How do you tell?

1. Does this mean I'm getting less nicotine when I don't get the "throat hit"?

2. I don't want to OVER DO IT on the nicotine, so should I re-order the 18mg(or Medium strength)?

3. How do I know when the cartomizer is completely out of liquid without inhaling the burned stuff I've read about on the V4L forum? And, HOW do you tell whether the cart is burning other than ripping it apart? (I can't tell by the taste and the vapor doesn't look smokey.)

4. Do I just buy the liquid and refill the USED cartridges EVERY DAY? If so then how many drops? I watched the video on refilling cartomizers. Should I keep the cartomizers full to get that throaty hit?

5. Do I need to buy the blank cartomizers to refill ONLY or can I JUST refill the Premium cartomizers, like the ones I have? I thought I read somewhere about the USED cartomizers being refilled no more than 2 times, but I don't know WHAT BRAND I read about. Can I re-use the cartomizers and just buy liquid to refill daily to keep a lot of liquid in there? How many drops?

Everyone's mileage varies, but 20 hits seems pretty low for a cartomizer. I'm getting quite a bit more than that. I'm not really sure what the deal is with that. When you put on a fresh carto, does it get better? Or does it still seem faded? If changing the carto helps... maybe those ones were just a bit dry? If it doesn't, then I'd say your batteries are losing power too quickly.

I go 4-5 hours on a carto, and 7-8 on a battery charge, but I seem to be getting better mileage with my Kr8 than a lot of people do, even though I vape pretty much all the time. Just lucky maybe?

1. Yes, you're probably getting less nicotine if you're not tasting it as much. Not as much liquid is wicking on the atomizer and being vaporized.

2.Yeah, try 18mg. I can go down to 12-ish, but I don't really feel satisfied unless I'm at 18. And if I'm in a triggering situation (while drinking, when stressed, etc) nothing less than 18 will do. I smoked 30 a day of some pretty strong cigarettes - Lucky Strikes, Pall Malls, and rollies.

3. You really don't want to go until they're totally empty, or else the fill will start to burn. I stop when I start to lose flavor, and sometimes I can detect a faint plastic-y taste on the exhale. That's when it's REALLY time to stop, even if you're still getting vapor.

4. Yes, I refill, and I make my own DIY juice. I sort of fill as I go along. I've usually got one or two filled up and ready to go, and a few more in my "REFILL ME" baggie. Like I said, since I get a lot of vaping out of mine, I usually only have to refill one or two a day.

5. I've refilled blanks and pre-filled cartos, and they are both working out fine. I'm up to 5 or 6 refills now in each, and they're starting to lose flavor. At this point, you can throw them out, or clean them. I'm going to clean them because I'm a penny pincher. I've read of people here getting 30+ refills out of one carto.

Generally yes, the less the throat hit the less nicotine is being delivered, batteries, volltage and atomizers also can affect throat hit


2. I don't want to OVER DO IT on the nicotine, so should I re-order the 18mg(or Medium strength)?

Hard to say, nicotine is an individual thing but I'd try a couple of different ones, maybe a 16mg and a 24mg and find out which is best for you.

After a while you'll know when the flavor starts to die off and the vapor production decreases slightly

I haven't used cartomizers but from what I've read it's best to top them off when they get about 1/3 to 1/2 full.

You can keep refilling them until you start getting a burnt taste as far as I know.
