Hi guys!

so i wanted to cut down on analog cigs (20+ years of smoking).

ended up getting v2 (i know..), so far so good i am down to 2-5 analogs a day from 3/4 pack.

now i have been reading up and while there is a lot of info, but it is overwhelming at times, so many options and everyone's opinion seems to dither.

so i wanted to see if anyone was in situation similar to mine and get their advice.

so i am smoker of 23 years, last 10 years been smoking marlboro lights exclusively. at the moment i am using e-cigs as replacement for real ones so i want cigarette flavor. can anyone recommend e-juice closest to marlboro lights in taste also similar low cost juice.

another thing is that i like compact look of 808 system for work/travel, but might get eVo for home use (but i am quite confused with all the different ones) so as far as i understand v2's are 808-d1 or something, what are recommended places to buy empty carts at good price, or should i get clear tank ones instead.

and i know that most of these questions been asked here before so sorry about that, i'm just trying to figure this out without buying every setup out there.

many thanks, Ziggy

I'm kinda new at vaping also. Was smoking 2-3 packs a day. Been smoking 40 years. Tried the Blu and other cig looking e-cigs over the last 2 years, they are a pain in the rear. You don't know when your cart is going to run out or the battery go dead. Last month while picking up weekly 2 cartons noticed the shop had the EGOs with clear carts so I bought one. The first one has a 650 battery and a week later I bought 2 EGOs with 1100 batterys. A 650 battery lasts about 1 1/2 days and the 1100s last 2 to 3 days. Now I have backups and can see when the ejuice is getting low. In the 4 weeks I have been using the EGOs I down to 5 real cigs a day.

Hi there,
I was an heavy smoker (more than one pack a day for sure, for years), what I can tell you is that no liquid is likely to come very very close to the taste of any specific cigarette, because not every "flavour" is created in the vaporization process (as opposed to combustion, which happens with normal cigs). I personally tried in a shop who allowed me to try many tobacco flavors before buying an e-cig, and I found that I liked cigars-flavors the best. So I suggest you experiment in a shop if possible, or anyhow not to give up if you don't find the exact taste you like, because you may find other taste are fine as well.

As for the e-cig I am using, I find the ego 650mh battery lasts me a day, and it's small enough to fit with a Clearomizer T3 in my shirt pocket (as opposed to a 1100 mh battery, too long). I experimented with other setups, but that's the one that fits best my daily uses, combined with an usb recharger (connected to office PC and such). I used tanks before, but now I use only clearomizers (the T3, specifically) because they are completely sealed (no leaks) and no condensation occours, which is good.

Welcome to ECF. Your concerns about information overload are quite common to newcomers, so you're not alone. There are plenty of experienced people here with knowledge and support for you. This is a brand new, wide-open technological market with many choices and options, which is actually a good thing. There is no single battery device, delivery device, or e-liquid which is "best" for every individual. The goal for you is to figure out what system will best fit your lifestyle and expectations and go from there. You've already gotten your foot in the door, which is another good thing. You've got ideas of what you want already. These ideas may very well change as you gain more experience.

As far as juice flavors tasting like a particular cigarette brand - FORGET IT. No one has been able to replicate the taste of burning tobacco and smoke in an e-liquid. My advice is to accept that and find another flavor(s) to use to vape. You'll waste a lot of money trying to find that elusive tobacco cigarette taste.

The choices will be almost endless. Candy, fruit, deserts, coffee, spices, etc. You may be surprised which ones you will like, so pick some that you think you will like first.

I recommend reading the E-Liquid sub-forum here for ideas of juice vendor websites and flavors to try: General E-Liquid Discussion Many of these vendors offer sampler packs to try multiple flavors in small sized bottles at a reduced cost. This saves you money in not wasting cash or time on larger bottles of juice that you may not care for. Once you find a winner, order more in a larger size.

If there is a e-cig brick and mortar shop near you, they often will have juice tasting stations to try out flavors.

Finding a flavor that you like will be as important as the gear you choose. No one can predict what YOU will like, we can only give generalized recommendations because taste is so subjective from one person to the next. What I like, you might not. What you like, I might not.

thank you for your replies. i get about a day out of long manual v2 (380mah i believe), i'll keep it for now. but will try and get eGo style system as well. can anyone explain passthrough/twist and other s differences

I've written a blog article on a variable voltage eGo beginner's setup (Twist and Spinner batteries are very similar in function) with a tutorial video at the end. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3706-4-good-starters-setup-beginning-vapor.html

In another blog article, I go over the more common juice delivery devices available to put on an eGo battery: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3230-1-proper-terminology-carto-tank-what-primer-juice-delivery-attachments.html
___

A "passthrough" battery is one that can connect to a USB port (ie computer port, or an USB/wall adaptor) to use without spending the stored energy in the eGo's battery.

808 stick batteries (often called cigalikes here) and plain eGo batteries put out a single voltage, usually around 3.7 volts. Being unregulated batteries, the voltage will drop as the battery is used, and the vaper will decline with it.

Variable voltage batteries like the Twist and Spinner eGo's, use a processor which allows you to change the voltage output to compensate for the declining battery. This is done with a dial on the end of the eGo. This can also be used to adjust the voltage to different flavors, as each flavor may taste better or worse at a different voltage. Sort of fine-tuning your battery device to the flavor used.

A good start for a cigarette flavor and experience would be Halo Torque56. It's about the most reminiscent of a real cigarette I've ever vaped. You get 6 6ml bottles in their sample tobacco pack for $24.95 (last time I checked).

My absolute favorite is Desert Tobacco from Electronic Cigarettes, E-Liquids & eCig Accessories | Awesome Vapor. It's a Camel vape-a-like that just keeps me coming back. I order a few bottles and alternate between DT and a few Dekang juices I favor.

Dekang tobacco is also a good one. Dekang USA mix is another. Red USA mix will be harsher and just plain old USA mix will be milder. USA mix is generally a code word for Marlboro.

If you like a touch of caramel flavor in your tobacco, RY4 is good but not all RY4 mixes are alike. In real cigarettes there's all sorts of flavoring added. Caramel is one. The juices will be similar, but slightly different. Again, sample packs from vendors are a good way to expose yourself to the variations.

"Real cigarette taste" is subjective and your taste might vary wildly from the tastes of others. Many times, I've ordered something that several vapers raved about, only to find that it was nasty tasting to me. Go figure. Sample packs are the economical way to try out flavors without breaking the budget. Keep them around if you don't like them. Juice has a shelf life of about 2 years and I've vaped older juices than that.

When you are waiting for the postman and have nothing left of your main stash, you will suddenly remember those juices in the closet that you hated a year ago. The light bulb goes on and you have something to vape while you wait. You might even find that one of two aren't so bad as you thought! Juices frequently improve with age.

Remember that juices taste differently on different atomizer types. A dripper atomizer is the gold standard for vaping. Most of us have a dripper atty we use to sample juices. You only add two or three drops and then vape. Those drops will last about the same time as a short cigarette. You can wash it out and dry burn it quickly and then change juices without mixing residual flavors together.

Did I mention sample packs?

thanks again guys.

small update found B&M shop locally got some samplers, so far happy with RY4 and USA as analog replacements also tried 555 but found that to be a bit harsh. again i am coming form marlboro lights (put that there for search purposes when someone else is looking for same stuff)

i am trying to decide now between kanger / twist setup or vamo as it is cheap enough with lots of options

I find 555 to be a little harsh myself. RED USA mix is usually on the same level. USA mix is about right. Taste, throat hit, and flavor vary from different vendors. After more than three years, I'm still searching for the perfect juice. Many are close, but on a day to day basis I switch around and my tastes change somewhat.
