Read this forum up and down for two days and just ordered my 510 from nhale.com.

Was introduced to vaping by someone at work when i mentioned that I wanted to quit smoking. I've been smoking about 8-10 newports a day for the last 10 years and its finally catching up to me with shortness of breath and sinus problems.

I see that most people on the forum are not really trying to give up nicotine, but rather quit analogs. My goal is to wean myself off nicotine altogether and then get to a point where i use my pv as a personal hookah with 0mg juice in all the nice flavors out there.

I'm looking at ordering some of the 24mg juice with double the flavor so that I can cut it with extra liquid and knock the nic content down while keeping the flavor.

Any suggestions or tips for someone looking to wean off nicotine and eventually take it down to 0mg nicotine. Surprisingly no one has mentioned hookah on the boards, but thats the first thing that comes to mind with I think about flavored juice. Do any of you find that this reminds you of the feeling you get when smoking a hookah?

Thanks guys, this board has been very informative so far.

Welcome, Fog. :)

You'll find many folks, like you, are looking to eventually completely give up nicotine. Others, as you've noted, are looking to cut back . . . and still others are quite comfortable with enjoying their nicotine . . . they just want to do it without the 4,000 chemicals that come along with burning tobacco.

While some folks have gone immediately down to zero nic, I think they are a definite minority. For most folks, they taper down. Just getting rid of the cancer sticks is a big enough move in the beginning.

As far as tapering down, what a lot of us do is vape a lower nicotine concentration and then when the craving hits, we spike our cartridge with a higher nicotine concentration. The problem that many of us find is that without nicotine, it's oftentimes hard to get a throat hit, which is what many find so satisfying about smoking. But you can tinker a bit with different solutions, stronger batteries, and all sorts of things.

Eventually, you can start moving to zero nic as your main vape with an occasional spike of a nicotine solution . . . and eventually, you'll be home free. :)

I'm looking at ordering some of the 24mg juice with double the flavor so that I can cut it with extra liquid and knock the nic content down while keeping the flavor.

Very good idea. Just make sure to keep back some full-strength 24 mg liquid so if you start feeling the cravings, you have something to fall back on. I can't tell you how many times a high nicotine spike to my cartridge saved me . . . especially in the first few months of vaping.

VG, glycerine, or glycerol (all the same thing) are very good for cutting the nic juice down with. It is quite thick and sweet so you may want to add a bit of deionised water to the mix. It does give a more 'smokey' vapour than PG.

I fill my carts up drop by drop, so I add the nic juice and finish it off with the VG. It works for me but maybe not everyone.

I am still learning!

I see that myfreedomsmokes is the only retailer Ive seen with a juice that has "double" the flavor and is made to cut down. I am just a little confused on what to cut it down with. I need something flavorless and 0nic so that I can take the 24mg solution and make it 12mg. What should I use.
Check out this subforum: DIY e-liquid

Well, Deadcat beat me to it . . . you think you've spent some time browsing the forum? Well, you ain't seen nothing yet. You can literally disappear for days into the DIY forum. :D

Honestly, DIY is the way to go for zero nic users. The supplies are relatively easy to find and pretty darned cheap. And, of course, it's just plain fun to mess around with all the different flavors.

As Rusty noted, glycerine is the easiest thing to cut with, primarily because it's so easy to find. Go to a Walmart or Michaels, go to the cake decorating/candy making section, and you'll probably find Wilton's glycerine, which has some weird use for frosting. Folks also find glycerine at the drug store, although ours around here don't seem to have it. The glycerin is kind of thick, so folks water it down a bit with distilled water or a very high proof alcohol. But you'll discover all of that in the DIY section.

Fair warning . . . don't venture into that section of the forum if you have any plans to do anything today . . . you will find yourself browsing for hours. ;)

ok so im going to order the double flavor 24mg juice from myfreedomsmokes and cut it in half with vg from walmart.

in the liquid forum i see some people saying that the juice might get too thick and needs to be watered down and some people are using water and other stuff to do that.

What is your thoughts on that?

DIY isn't an exact science, and you'll get lots of different thoughts on this. I personally use a bit of glycerin, a bit of PG, and a bit of distilled water. Sometimes when I'm feeling kind of adverturous, I use 100 proof vodka instead of water. :D

Basically, you're trying to get a nice consistency so that the liquid wicks properly. If it's too thick, it just sits there and doesn't wick. if it's too thin, it flows a little too freely, and you wind up flooding your atomizer. It's basically just trial and error and personal preference.

But if you do use water, make sure it's distilled. You don't want anything that could have suspended sediment or other impurities to gunk up your atomizer more than necessary.

Alright so i charged my 510 battery overnight and started my vaping career this morning. So far its been going pretty well. All the great information on this site has reduced my learning curve a bit.

Its been all day and I havent felt the need to light up an analog and I dont think I will need to.

The only "problem" i have is that I dont particularly care for the two liquids that came with my ecig (nuport and banana blast). That and I noticed that sometimes I am getting a lot of vapor if I drag and leave my mouth kind of open but when I inhale, I exhale very little vapor. I'm not holding the vapor very long so I dont think its being absorbed. Not really sure whats going on with that.

I tried to go to walmart to get some gycerin and flavors to cut the liquid and up the flavor but I couldnt find anything so I will try Michaels tomorrow. I think once I find my perfect blend of liquid I will enjoy it more. I am placing an order from ruyandirect for extra liquid tonight.
