Hey guys, I've been vapeing for about a month now and I'm having a bit of a problem. I'm using 510 LR atty's on my EGO passthrough battery with direct dripping and it seems like after 4 or 5 days my atty starts to lose all of it's flavor. It will work like a champ at first but within a week it feels like I'm sucking on steam and getting no throat hit or flavor after the first couple of hits but tons of vapor. I thought maybe the atty was just running dry but I'm getting liquid in my mouth from flooding it when I try to add more juice.

When I first started I was blowing out my atty every night but that didn't really seem to help at all. I've read other people talking about how attys will sometimes last them a month or two but mine lose all of their oomph after about a week and just aren't satisfying anymore.

Is this caused by the juices that I'm vaping? (Mostly dark colored juices like Boba's Bounty from AVE & Thin Mint Cookie from freedomsmokes). Did I get an inferior batch of atty's? Is this gunk buildup that I need to clean out?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: I plan to try and get my hands on an Ali'i VV(harder than I thought it would be lol). Do you think vapeing at a higher voltage might fix my problem?

Do you take long draws?

I do. I've been at this awhile and still go through more attys than 3 other people combined. Cartos too.

I'm hard on attys. I know it. But I need big hits, so I just buy them in bulk.

If I get 2 weeks out of one, I'm happy. Some don't make it that long and some go longer.

Upping the voltage and going with a higher resistance may help you, doesn't make any difference to me though...

Is your Ego PT a 5V PT? If so, LR attys are not meant to be used on 5V

And even if it is 3.7v, that is a bit higher than an Ego battery (3.4-ish) and you might need slightly higher ohms LR attys

Hmm, It's been a while since I ordered it and I can't remember. It looks the same as a normal EGO battery just slightly longer with the usb plug on the end. Is there any way to tell without a voltage meter?

Edit: I do take long draws with it since I don't get much of a throat hit even with 24mg unless that atty is brand new.

Long draws here, too. Used to the first e-ciggie with auto-battery. One to start the battery, two to prime, and three to draw. I still find myself doing that with my eGo-T. Old habit, I guess, and a little bit of needing a bit more "oomph" when I draw. I've got some Boge 2.0 Ohm cartos coming in, and supposedly, that provides a stronger hit. I guess I'll keep experimenting to see what works best.

I know higher-VG juice clog up my cartos faster and so do juices that have flavoring residue. Cocoa and chocolate are two flavorings that seem to often leave residue. Maybe you could try alternating with a thin juice, maybe even w/ a bit of grain alcohol added (not rubbing alcohol). Maybe it would help loosen up whatever your buildup is.

I also find that I take very long draws and use 100% VG juice as I absolutely LOVE huge clouds of vapor. I think thats what I missed about smoking when I had previously given it up at times. I have been using standard 510 atty's on a Provari @ between 4.5 & 5.5 volts and find that they will generally last me about 2 weeks give or take. $8 for 2 weeks I am not going to complain about considering that when I was smoking I was spending about $22 / day so I am good with that.

I have on order some HV atty's from Ikenvape to see how they perform, but I am pretty happy right at the moment though.

I did have a period of over-filling my carts (i realised after a couple of days of thouroughly unsatisfactory vaping). During that period i was drawing long and just about getting a little vapor. And not enough throat hit. So it could be that you're over wetting your atty.
Blow it right out. From the open end. You may find a lot of dark juice comes out. If it does blow it a few more times. Only fill up when you're cart foam is virtually dry. Your atty will be crackling and popping gently and will give you good throat hit and vapor again.

I may be way off the mark, but I had the same thing happen when I got my first dual coil cartomizer.

I bought a single one just to try it out.

I used it for oh, about 5-6 days and I passed a LOT of different juices through it, and by the 5th day, I was thinking the exact same thing, nothing had any flavor anymore, it all just tasted 'bleh'.

The same thing happened again when I purchased a few more, but tried to be cool and mix some flavors.

What made perfect sense to me (hey, let's throw some vanilla in my chocolate covered cherry, wouldn't that taste great) ...wound up being another big 'bleh' taste.
I did that several times combining different flavors and it just didn't seem to work out.
Occasionally it did work, but it seemed to me more times than not it didn't.

The moral of my story is for me now, I only load one juice into one carto, I don't swap juices because I think it somehow ruins the atomizer sooner or later, no matter what the particular device the atomizer is housed in.

The analogy is that dripping (to me) is the same thing in different form...sharing or combining flavors on an atty just seems to ruin the flavor.

Just my opinion, nothing more, maybe wrong, but since I only load one juice per carto, I haven't had that 'bleh' problem.

Well at least you're not popping atties like popcorn like I did  maybe your attys are gunky. When you look inside while pressing the switch does the whole coil go orange immediately? Or does it take a moment and you can see the orange crawl across the coil? If it hesitates it's prolly gunky. I don't like the soot aftertaste of the dry burn method and afraid it drains my batts and wears my atty. There's a great article about using pure grain alcohol and a sonic cleaner on ECF for cleaning attys. I was cleaning once a week+ until I got the hang of it. Most attys last months now from Ikenvape and myvaporstore with not-frequent cleaning. I take long toots/draws/puffs - whatever it's called.

Dark colored juices will clog your atomizers. You need to invest in an ultra sonic jewelry cleaner. It brings back the newness of your atomizers with just a few simple cycles.

A higher voltage won't resolve your problem. It may very well increase the problem and kill your atomizers that are gunked up quicker.

I've used light colored 100% VG juices without issues but they are light in color. Any dark color is a gunker (if that's a word).

It looks like we all experience vaping in a different way.

I am very finicky with my attys. I have my list of "acceptable suppliers". Additionally, I too get a good vape out of an atty for a couple of weeks on average.

On the other hand, one of my friends can use an atty for a month and be just fine. Out of curiosity, I have tried one of her month old atty when she thought it was fine and I thought it was just lousy. So we obviously don't have the same definition of what constitute a "working atomizer".

Over time, I have come to the conclusion that when it comes to smoking or vaping, we have our own individual reasons for doing it. There is no standard that fits all and I stopped comparing my performance to other's (can't imagine smoking a light cigarette, to me it's always been like smoking straw. Can't imagine vaping on a month old atty, to me it's like vaping straw :()

Just do what it takes to make it enjoyable for yourself.
