Congrats to you, McBarron, for 1) trying again/still to quit the analogs; and 2) having the excellent good sense to ask the knowledgeable folks here for advice!
I am a completely ex-smoker now for a bit over 2 weeks, after a 40+-year 2-3 pack a day habit. I fought quitting SO hard! I tried a couple of cig-a-likes (quickly dismissed those as not right for me), then bought a locally manufactured basic starter kit top-fill clear tank + battery and a sampling of e-juices from my local B&M smoke shop. As long as I kept stocking ANY amount of regular cigarettes, I was nowhere near quitting. If I had 'em, I'd smoke 'em, and use the e-cig only as an afterthought.
Then I realized that I was really priced out of continuing to buy cigarettes of the quality I liked (American Spirit Ultra Lights) in the massive quantity that I smoked. So I decided to quit messing around and just get quit of them completely.
Given the heavy habit, I got the nicotine patches as a fundamental nicotine-weaner (but even the patch was not close to my normal intake given multiple packs/day), and bought a variety of 0-8mg juices, and became a serious vaper-trainee and a complete ex-smoker for life.
To be honest with you, I haven't had a bit of trouble replacing analogs with e-cigs. I feel completely at home and comfortable with vaping. I just received my Kanger EVOD + Pro Tank starter kit today from MaxVaper), since my original locally-manufactured tank-battery rig had such fragile tanks that I had to buy 4 in just a short time -- they cracked, for no apparent reason.
Can't wait to try out the EVOD. I'm sure I will end up trying other things later on (and when I'm not as broke), because it's FUN! But for now, the technology works great for me, is completely satisfying and fun, and analogs are a thing of the past in my life. I can't believe it, but it's .. just... true. You watch, the months and years are going to go by.
Learning from what I've read here at ECF about juices, I'm going to order more juices from Mt. Baker (going to try a 60PG-40VG blend), and some Halo tobacco flavors, and ROCK ON!
You can do it, McBarron! It's an entrancing and absorbing hobby, and no dirty ashtrays, WOOHOO!
