Based on the recommendations from you great folks here, I purchased the following on Saturday afternoon from VapeDojo:

1x Kanger Evod Starter Kit - Black
1x Super Starter Sampler Pack - 18mg - Medium

They already shipped first thing this morning: In other words, the first chance they had! I'm already loving this experience.

Yeah, Vapedojo is EXCELLENT! Congrats on your new kit, I know you will enjoy it!

If you want a cig-a-like that delivers quality flavor and great throat hit then I suggest you check out the "joyetech Eroll" or the twin version "Ovale EMINI". They are roughly the size of a king cigarette and light enough to hold with your lips. For such a small package it packs a punch, especially if you use a high Nic juice. I actually prefer it over my EVOD protanks t3 etc. it's small and convenient when out and about and if you get the white version you won't get any stares out in public. It's perfect for driving, sneaking a quick vape in a bathroom or even just hanging on the couch. I highly suggest you check out the review I wrote up in the gear section. It also comes with a personal charger that is about the size of those old Nokia phones and will keep recharging the mini batteries all day long no problem. You may find that the batt styles are cumbersome and being an ex smoker your hands just naturally want something little. Good luck man!!!

Congrats to you, McBarron, for 1) trying again/still to quit the analogs; and 2) having the excellent good sense to ask the knowledgeable folks here for advice!

I am a completely ex-smoker now for a bit over 2 weeks, after a 40+-year 2-3 pack a day habit. I fought quitting SO hard! I tried a couple of cig-a-likes (quickly dismissed those as not right for me), then bought a locally manufactured basic starter kit top-fill clear tank + battery and a sampling of e-juices from my local B&M smoke shop. As long as I kept stocking ANY amount of regular cigarettes, I was nowhere near quitting. If I had 'em, I'd smoke 'em, and use the e-cig only as an afterthought.

Then I realized that I was really priced out of continuing to buy cigarettes of the quality I liked (American Spirit Ultra Lights) in the massive quantity that I smoked. So I decided to quit messing around and just get quit of them completely.

Given the heavy habit, I got the nicotine patches as a fundamental nicotine-weaner (but even the patch was not close to my normal intake given multiple packs/day), and bought a variety of 0-8mg juices, and became a serious vaper-trainee and a complete ex-smoker for life.

To be honest with you, I haven't had a bit of trouble replacing analogs with e-cigs. I feel completely at home and comfortable with vaping. I just received my Kanger EVOD + Pro Tank starter kit today from MaxVaper), since my original locally-manufactured tank-battery rig had such fragile tanks that I had to buy 4 in just a short time -- they cracked, for no apparent reason.

Can't wait to try out the EVOD. I'm sure I will end up trying other things later on (and when I'm not as broke), because it's FUN! But for now, the technology works great for me, is completely satisfying and fun, and analogs are a thing of the past in my life. I can't believe it, but it's .. just... true. You watch, the months and years are going to go by.

Learning from what I've read here at ECF about juices, I'm going to order more juices from Mt. Baker (going to try a 60PG-40VG blend), and some Halo tobacco flavors, and ROCK ON!

You can do it, McBarron! It's an entrancing and absorbing hobby, and no dirty ashtrays, WOOHOO!

Hi McBarron and welcome!

I just have to let you know that ........ CAN happen, and it happened to me -- but ONLY from one vendor. I think it has to do with what they may have thinned their VG juice with. I changed to other vendors and have never had a problem since (that was several months ago).

From what I've read on this forum, you'll be fine with Halo and Mt. Baker. There are a lot of great juice vendors -- Happy Vaping!

I'm so happy for you all who have said FU to cigs.

I just got my evod in today.

pros: excellent packaging; the evod is a very sleek and sturdy unit; vapor amount was excellent; shipping was exceptionally fast

Cons: throat hit was weak (used vape dojo Ryo4 juice which had a chemical like taste) and I found myself smoking an analog right after taking about 10 or so puffs from the evod

Sort of disappointed, but I will continue to try and make it work.

I thank you all again for your continued support.

McBarron,

Keep at it man! Here's what I did. I just assembled my own starter pack. From This place: Electronic Cigarette Supplies & Electronic Cigarette Refills for Name-Brand Electronic Cigarettes! E-Cigs from LiteCigUSA They have good prices, shipped fast, and (you'll come to appreciate this in the e-cig world) all items are original manufacturer items, not clones.

10ml Empty Plastic Needle Bottle $0.95 x 5 = $4.75 (You'll appreciate these for filling small tanks)

Kangertech Mini ProTank 2 $13.95 x 2 = $27.90

Joye EGO-C Twist 1000mah Manual Battery - Matte Black (Or whatever color you want) $24.95 x 2 = $49.90

Joyetech Mini AC Wall to USB Adaptor $4.95

Joye EGO Rapid USB Charger $6.95

Bulk Liquid Discount [10-needle-bottle] -$1.25

Total: $93.20

Now, you can adjust quantities there and I'm sure people here can guide you better on juices. All of the above has worked very well for me. Over a week now and no cigs. (My quit day was 11-12-13) I didn't intend it to be that, but everything worked so well, I didn't want to try an analog! Good luck to you.

Don't mean to scare OP but I used a starter kit at first as well. Cheap ego style battery, disposable clearo and some crappy juice. I think I paid 30 bucks or so for that setup at a smokeshop that was just moving over into vape gear. I had no idea what I was doing and neither did they. After 2 weeks I knew I wasn't going to quit with that setup. I had cut down, which was great, but I didn't quit outright until I upgraded my gear and bought better juice.

Spent $150 the next time out and got a variable voltage mod, some carto tanks, batteries, charger, drip tips - the works pretty much. Plus some great juice that I got to sample before I paid for it. Quit smoking after my first hit on that setup and haven't even thought about it since - even when offered cigs from friends. For me the juice was the key, and the hardware to deliver it properly flipped that switch.

Sounds like you need different juice. The vape dojo stuff probably needs to steep for a few weeks. I'm not sure about the chemical taste though, never had that from one of their juices, but never tried the RY4 there either.

Don't give up! We're all pulling for you!

The first time you use a new coil in a e-cig it will have a chemical taste. Its some kind of break in that every one of my Protank coils goes through

I also second the suggestion that the juice may need to steep for a bit.

What that means is that when juices are first mixed it takes up to a couple of weeks for the flavors to completely blend properly and for any alcohol to evaporate (some flavors are alcohol based)

Its frustrating when your ordering juices and you wait for this new juice to arrive and when you finally get it you realize that it needs to steep. Just seal it and shake it every day or so and let it sit for a week or two then try it again. Of course you may just find that you don't like it

Several of the juices I have bought in the past were not good to me but I was able to mix them and make something useable.

I would also like to give a big thumbs up to the link on the second page for the Innokin MVP v2 variable wattage box mod for 39.99

For such an awesome unit that is a great price. I just bought one from a local B&M store and love it so much over my VAMO v2 that it replaced.

Update: Still smoking regular cigs. I've tried my tail off with this Evod, but, man, the throat hit is weak. Normally, I'd think that "hey, it's all in your head, dude", but my coworker let me try his Halo Triton and that thin made me cough like the first time I smoked a real cig.

So, I am really thinking about just getting what he has. That Evod has been nothing but a dud, IMO.

Any advice on salvaging the 2 EVODS I have? Are the 2.5ohm coils the wrong size? Anything?

Thanks as always ECIG Nation!!!!
