I just joined the forum and have poked around the posts somewhat. I've ordered the Tecc 510 Titan from TW and it should arrive early next week. Forgive me if this question has been asked before, but I'd like to know...

How long have you been using the e-cig? Any real LONG TERM users here? I'd like to hear your comments.

The reason I ask, is that there seems to be some concern by the FDA and others about the long term risks of using them, but I can't find any information. To be honest, I can't find much of ANY negative comments from people that use them.
I've been smoking for over 40 years and I have tried it all - patches, gum, lozenges, etc. Nothing worked. Everything I've read leads me to believe that this is a safer alternative to smoking, but not entirely safe.

THIS blog might be of interest to you. If you poke around, he explains why the FDA's statements are...well...let's just say "not entirely credible" and leave it at that.

There are a few around these parts who have vaped for a couple of years now. Sorry I can;t remember the handles, or I would tell you.

Sorry, not a long term user. I have vaped for over a month and quit smoking in about a week after buying my first e-cig.

I've tried the patch and gum before, both with failing results.

The only health concerns I've read concerning the e-cig are either an adverse reaction to PG/VG, or nicotine sickness.

I had a worse reaction to the low nicotine patch than my 24mg juice. This has been the only stop smoking method that has worked so far. I think it has to do with the physical ritual. It mimics smoking closer than any stop-smoking aid I've used.

Hi, nice to see another Zonie! Good question. While nothing inhaled is 100% safe, compared to a cigarette, I'm feeling pretty good about vaping, and have done so for almost 7 months with no sign of problems. Long term, we really don't know, but most heath care professionals agree that compared to the option of smoking, this is a better way to go. Personally I decided that any risk was low. I also quit smoking (just over 5 months).

There are several areas on the forum that you can read to satisfy your questions and make up your own mind. Find the areas at the bottom of each page (Forum Jump).

I'd also like to invite you to join the vaping in Phoenix (VIP) Social Group that is located on ECF for Arizona members. Click on my Sig. to join, we're all here to help each other and we meet once a month in Phoenix. If you have any problems, send me a PM.

BTW, good choice on the 510! LMK if you have any questions about it when it arrives. It is a model that I use as well.

Definitely read Dr. Siegel's blog on that link kcr gave you! It's a real eye opener.

Based on anecdotal evidence, no complaints have been reported against e-cigs in the 3+ years they've been available. On the contrary, people have reported feeling better than they have in a long time, breathing better, exercising again, better blood pressure, better doctor's checkups, etc.

The FDA report says PVs are not "safe" but they don't compare their benefits to smoking at all. I'm sure that if they had to compare them to tobacco smoking, they'd have to admit that PVs are a better alternative. But they would rather we just quit or use patches or gum.

They don't recognize PV use as a recreational activity - in their eyes, all use of nicotine must either be from smoking or toher tobacco leaf use or from trying to QUIT smoking, not something in between like PVs.

Thanks for the replies and especially the link, kcr. There appears to be a ton of information there. I'll be sure to read it. Hellen...Thank you for the invite. Phoenix is about a three hour drive from here, and I'm a single grandpa raising two grandkids (had them since they were six and nine), so I'm pretty tied down close to home. I'd like to keep in touch though.
Thanks again, everybody. I'm sure I'll have LOTS of questions.

I'm not a long term user, I've only been vaping for about a month, but I can tell you that some people do have sensitivities to it or get nicotine poisoning. A friend of mine used his personal vaporizer too much and got nicotine poisoning. I guess he couldn't tell when he should take a break from it. Everything turned out fine for him, but he hasn't touched a pv since. Also another friend of mine had some sort of sensitivity to the liquids. He tried pg and vg based, but both of them made his stomach hurt really bad. He had to quit less than a week after he started because he didn't like being doubled over in pain (imagine that). Anyway, I can't tell you if there are any long term effects, but I can tell you that I do feel better now that I have switched. I don't have a smokers cough anymore and I don't get winded from climbing up a flight of stairs.

So I don't smoke, but my partner does. He smokes cloves (Djarun Splash). We were at the mall recently and were approached by a vendor about smokeless cigs.

My parents purchased some about 6 months ago (I believe from this vendor) and love them. We were thinking of getting a starter kit by them to try it out. Problem is I can't seem to find any information about the company anywhere.

I can't post the website apparently, smoke free stix with a dot com and no spaces.

I would really appreciate it if anyone could tell me if they have any experience with this company or a good recommendation for where we can look for my partner to try out an e-cig (preferrably as closely flavored to his brand of choice as possible). Any info is appreciated, I just want to make sure we start with a good company with safe products so we can have as positive an experience as possible.

Thanks all.

P.S. while we'd like to keep the trial price under $100 depending on the deal we're willing to go higher, we really just want him to get an idea and if he likes it then we can invest as much as necessary to get a good e-cig.

Also, what are the e-liquids? Are they e-cigs you fill yourself?
