Hello all!
found this forum about a week ago. there's a tremendous amount of info to absorb but I've got the basics down. I purchased a kanger Evod & am now 4 days smoke free after 30 years of smoking. I am thrilled with how easy it has been for me! after sooo many failed attempts with cold turkey, cutting back, patch, pills, gum, & greensmoke, I cant say how appreciative I am. I feel like I am free. I even passed a major test. Wed nights are pool night at my home. Two close friends came over, one smokes cigs & the other cigars. In the confines of an enclosed basement, filled with smoke, I did not have one urge to smoke!!!!!! I happily vaped and didnt think twice about it.

now for a few questions:
1.) can I lay the EVOD on its side? It seems like the liquid goes up into the top of the tip, then makes a gurgling sound when I use it. Is this bad?
2.) what ohm replacement coils should i buy? 1.8, 2.0, 2.2, 2.5? i cannot find any markings that are on the coils that came in the starter kit, so I dont even know what I have. the batteries I have are 3.7v, non variable, 650maH.
3.) can you explain , in laymen's terms, what lower & higher resistance coils do, at constant voltage.
4.) when do I change coils?
5.) what is the advantage of going to a variable voltage battery?
6.) I was contemplating buying 2, 1000maH vv batteries. Will I be able to use the same wall charger that came with the kit, or does that need to be upgraded too?

thanks in advance for your help.

Congrats on making the switch and welcome to the ECF! In answer to your questions:

1. Laying it on its side should not hurt. EVODS do gurgle, though, and being on its side may increase it.
2. 2.0 would be a safe bet on a fixed voltage batt, although I would prefer the added warmth of 1.8.
3. The higher the resistance, the cooler the vape at the same voltage.
4. Change coils when the flavor gets muted. You can also try cleaning them to make them last a little longer. You should be able to get a week out of one easily.
5. Variable voltage allows you to vary the voltage to match the resistance and also gives you increased voltage over a fixed voltage device. Some flavors are better warmer, some cooler. VV lets you tailor it to your preferences.
6. The same charger should work, although I highly recommend buying another charger as a backup.

Welcome and congratulations!!! I can answer 1, part of 2, and 4. :) I'm too new myself. Yes, you can lay your EVOD on its side. My gurgles sometimes, too, but unless it's spitting the juice into your mouth, you're good. Happened once to me - nasty, burning, bleh. The coils that come with it are 1.8. What that all means, I have no idea. lol Coils should last approximately two weeks, depending on your usage. Someone else is going to have to explain cleaning and all that stuff. I'm just happy not to be fiddling with stuff like I seemed to do at first.

Search Utube for cleaning on EVOD (protank , same coil so what you do applies).

Gurgling. Caused by removing flavor wicks. Seal on the center posts not sealing. Or E-liquid is too low.
Do not remove the flavor wicks unless you are having dry burns (wick not getting any e-liquid).
move up the seal on center posts and let it seal naturally (its get pushed down when you install the base).
Do not let the tank run lower than 1/4 of the window.

I use small piece of rolled up paper towel to remove condensation from the airway after
a. Filling.
b. after vaping for about 1/2 of a tank.

cheers

Paper towels are your friend. :) So are cotton swabs. Some will fit; most of the time I have to pull some off the tip. But I've never used so many Q-Tips in my life!

I've used 1.8, 2.2, and 2.5 coils with my Evod tanks and 3.7 volt battery. 2.2 seems to be the sweet spot for me, but that's subjective. At 1.8 the juice tastes a little off to me. So far, I've had good luck stopping gurgling before it starts. I use pipe cleaners (You can get a truck load of 6" ones at Amazon for about $5.) pretty much the way the others described using paper towels to clean condensation out of the tube. Every once in a while, maybe after an hour and half or two of vaping, I tip the device upside down, insert the pipe cleaner and twist it around to sop up the condensation. Then while the device is still upside down, I lean back and take a couple of puffs while the wicks and coil are not bathing in the liquid. Haven't had any gurgling since doing it this way.

VV or VW has advantage of tailoring the Vap in taste and temperature of your topper (tank or what ever).

I would suggest you look into VW device.

1 Itaste V3 (very small just like EGO batteries. Highly rated.)
2 Itaste MVP V2 (Great battery. Going for about 40 bucks. You will not regret it.). Generally EGO charger are all the same but the built Q depends on where you get yours.

But always use wall outlet usb charger. Do not use your computer as it will be expensive if something happens:evil:

Cheers

1.) Yes you can.
2.) I believe they come with 2.2 if memory serves me correct me. You can use a 2.0 or 1.8. They're found at the base of the coil in tiny tiny print.
3.) Lower resistance coils require more battery to but produce heat quicker but better vapor (someone can correct me if I'm wrong), vice versa for higher resistance coils.
4.) Every 3 - 4 weeks. It depends on the user. When you start to get a burnt taste consistently after 1 - 3 drags generally means the coil needs to be changed.
5.) VV / VW allows you to control how you like the hit to be and better taste. Also better Vapor production. (This can be pretty addicting as you're going to want to find which device provides a better vapor)...I believe that that has to do with the chip etc etc.
6.) I would suggest an MVP 2 if you're going to do that...there are some really good prices on sale right now.
